One of the undesirable phenomena in the surface mines, which results in various hazards for human and facilities, is flyrock. It seems that the careful study of the subject and its effects on the environment can affect the control of flyrock hazards in the studied area. Therefore, the use of intelligent models and methods which are capable of predicting and simulating the risk of flyrock can be considered as an appropriate solution in this regard. The current research was conducted using nonlinear models and Monte Carlo (MC) simulation. The data used in this study consist of 260 samples of rock thrown from a mine in Malaysia. The parameters used in these models include hole’s diameter (D), hole’s depth (HD), burden to spacing (BS), stemming (ST), maximum charge per delay (MC), and powder factor (PF). At first, multiple regression analysis (MRA) and artificial neural network (ANN) models were used in order to develop a non-linear relationship between dependent and independent parameters. The ANN model was an appropriate predictor of flyrock in the mine. Then using the best implemented model of ANN, the flyrock environmental phenomenon was simulated using MC technique. MC simulation showed a proper level of accuracy of flyrock ranges in the mine. Using this simulation, it can be concluded with 90% accuracy that the Flyrock phenomenon does not exceed 331 m. Under these conditions, this simulation can be used for various areas requiring risk assessment. Finally, a sensitive analysis was carried out on data. This analysis showed MC has the greatest effect on flyrock.  相似文献

The thermal treatment of nanostructured materials to improve their properties generally results in undesirable aggregation and sintering. Here, we report on a novel wrap-bake-peel process, which involves silica coating, heat treatment and finally the removal of the silica layer, to transform the phases and structures of nanostructured materials while preserving their nanostructural characteristics. We demonstrate, as a proof-of-concept, the fabrication of water-dispersible and biocompatible hollow iron oxide nanocapsules by applying this wrap-bake-peel process to spindle-shaped akagenite (beta-FeOOH) nanoparticles. Depending on the heat treatment conditions, hollow nanocapsules of either haematite or magnetite were produced. The synthesized water-dispersible magnetite nanocapsules were successfully used not only as a drug-delivery vehicle, but also as a T2 magnetic resonance imaging contrast agent. The current process is generally applicable, and was used to transform heterostructured FePt nanoparticles to high-temperature face-centred-tetragonal-phase FePt alloy nanocrystals.  相似文献

Behavior of Retrofitted URM Walls under Simulated Earthquake Loading   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Unreinforced masonry (URM) buildings perform poorly under seismic forces and have been identified as the main cause of loss of life in recent earthquakes. Many of these structures fail in out-of-plane bending due to the lack of reinforcement. In this study, the experimental results from three half-scale unreinforced brick walls retrofitted with vertical composite strips are presented. The specimens were subjected to cyclic out-of-plane loading. Five reinforcement ratios and two different glass fabric composite densities were investigated. The mode of failure is controlled by tensile failure when wider and lighter composite fabrics are used and by delamination when stronger ones are used. The tested specimens were capable of supporting a lateral load up to 32 times the weight of the wall. A deflection as much as 2% of the wall height was measured. Although both URM walls and composite strips behave in a brittle manner, the combination resulted in a system capable of dissipating some energy. Retrofitting URM walls with composite strips proved to be a good and reliable strengthening alternative.  相似文献

In this work, a biosensor was developed for the determination of sulfite. The bioelectrochemical response of the enzyme-modified electrode based on electrochemical incorporation of sulfite oxidase into polyaniline aluminum modified electrode was investigated. Electropolymerization of polyaniline and simultaneous immobilization of sulfite oxidase on the aluminum were performed in an aqueous solution containing sulfite oxidase. The sulfite biosensor constructed by cycling the potential scan between +1.2 and ?0.5 V vs. saturated calomel electrode (SCE) that showed a sensitive response to sulfite with a linear calibration graph in the concentration ranges of 0.006–5 mM sulfite and detection limit 0.002 mM sulfite (S/N = 3). The obtained results from the stability tests of the biosensor show that the sulfite biosensor can be used for two different applications, for immediate usage and long term usage. Also, the bioelectrochemical response of the enzyme-modified electrode as a sulfite biosensor was evaluated at different experimental conditions. The optimum pH when using phosphate buffer and temperature were 8.5 and 35 °C, respectively. Finally, the apparent Michaelis–Menten constant was determined which has value of 0.365 mM which is really close to the magnitude of the Michaelis–Menten constant of free sulfite oxidase that shows the enzyme was not chemically modified and has its usual kinetic reaction.  相似文献
