In this study, an effective enrichment technique was applied to isolate different bacterial strains with capabilities to denitrogenate carbazole (CAR), as a model compound for nitrogenous polyaromatic hydrocarbons (NPAHs). Twenty-four different CAR-denitrogenating bacterial strains were isolated from mineral coke samples. From all, a Gram +ve bacterial isolate designated BS1 showed a higher biodenitrogenation (BDN) efficiency relevant to the well-known biodenitrogenating bacterium strain Pseudomonas resinovorans CA10, recording 77.15 and 60.66% removal of 1000 ppm CAR with the production of 119.79 and 102.43 ppm anthranilic acid, and 121.19 and 90.33 ppm catechol, as by-products, respectively. BS1 was identified by 16S rDNA gene sequence analysis to be Bacillus clausii BS1 (NCBI GenBank Accession no. KF985981) with a similarity of 99.14%. The CAR-BDN pathway was also elucidated using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and gas chromatography mass spectrometry analysis (GC/MS), which proved further metabolism of catechol to muconic acid.  相似文献

Ce and Zr promoted Fe/Cu-modified natural clay based catalysts were prepared and tested in dry reforming of methane (DRM) at temperatures from 600 to 800 °C. The physicochemical properties of these catalysts were analyzed by means of N2 adsorption, X-ray diffraction (XRD). H2-temperature programmed reduction (H2-TPR) and CO2-temperature programmed desorption (TPD). Ce and Zr promotion resulted in a considerable increase of the catalytic activity. This increase can be mainly ascribed to an improved reducibility of Ni species, together with slightly higher Ni0 crystal size, that, on the other hand, also catalyze undesired parallel reactions resulting in carbon formation, such as direct methane decomposition. Both Ce and Zr presence also promoted the presence of weak and medium strength basic sites, which are thought to favor CO2 adsorption and desorption on the catalyst surface, leading to enhanced catalytic activity.  相似文献

Renewable distributed electricity generation can play a significant role in meeting today's energy policy goals, such as reducing greenhouse gas emissions, improving energy security, while adding supply to meet increasing energy demand. However, the exact potential benefits are still a matter of debate. The objective of this study is to evaluate the life cycle implications (environmental, economic and energy) of distributed generation (DG) technologies. A complementary objective is to compare the life cycle implications of DG technologies with the centralized electricity production representing the Northeastern American context. Environmental and energy implications are modeled according to the recommendations in the ISO 14040 standard and this, using different indicators: Human Health; Ecosystem Quality; Climate Change; Resources and Non-Renewable Energy Payback Ratio. Distinctly, economic implications are modeled using conventional life cycle costing. DG technologies include two types of grid-connected photovoltaic panels (3 kWp mono-crystalline and poly-crystalline) and three types of micro-wind turbines (1, 10 and 30 kW) modeled for average, below average and above average climatic conditions in the province of Quebec (Canada). A sensitivity analysis was also performed using different scenarios of centralized energy systems based on average and marginal (short- and long-term) technology approaches. Results show the following. First, climatic conditions (i.e., geographic location) have a significant effect on the results for the environmental, economic and energy indicators. More specifically, it was shown that the 30 kW micro-wind turbine is the best technology for above average conditions, while 3 kWp poly-crystalline photovoltaic panels are preferable for below average conditions. Second, the assessed DG technologies do not show benefits in comparison to the centralized Quebec grid mix (average technology approach). On the other hand, the 30 kW micro-wind turbine shows a potential benefit as long as the Northeastern American electricity market is considered (i.e., oil and coal centralized technologies are affected for the short- and long-term marginal scenarios, respectively). Photovoltaic panels could also become more competitive if the acquisition cost decreased. In conclusion, DG utilization will represent an improvement over centralized electricity production in a Northeastern American context, with respect to the environmental, energy and economic indicators assessed, and under the appropriate conditions discussed (i.e., geographical locations and affected centralized electricity production scenarios).  相似文献

Data curation activities in collaborative databases mandate that collaborators interact until they converge and agree on the content of their data. In a previous work, we presented a cloud-based collaborative database system that promotes and enables collaboration and data curation scenarios. Our system classifies different versions of a data item to either pending, approved, or rejected. The approval or rejection of a certain version is done by the database Principle Investigators (or PIs) based on its value. Our system also allows collaborators to view the status of each version and help PIs take decisions by providing feedback based on their experiments and/or opinions. Most importantly, our system provided mechanisms for history tracking of different versions to trace the modifications and approval/rejection done by both collaborators and PIs on different versions of a data item. We labeled our system as Update-Pending-Approval model (or UPA). In this paper, we describe a high level SQL query interface language for PIs and collaborators to interact with the UPA framework. We define a set of UPA keywords that are used as a part of the history tracking mechanism to select specific versions of a data item, and a set of UPA options that select specific versions based on possible future decisions of PIs. We implemented our query interface mechanism on top of Apache Phoenix, taking into consideration that the UPA system was implemented on top of Apache HBase. We test the performance of the UPA query language by executing several queries that contain different complexity levels and discuss their results.  相似文献

The hydrodynamic characteristics of the MaxblendTM impeller have been investigated in the case of viscous Newtonian fluids. Both laboratory experiments and 3D finite element based computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations have been carried out. The power consumption, the mixing evolution yielding the mixing time, and the effect of baffles in the laminar and transition flow regimes have been determined. It was found that the limit Reynolds number between the laminar and transition regimes is approximately 25 and 38 for the unbaffled and baffled configurations, respectively. Based on the range of Reynolds numbers studied in this work, the best window performance of the MaxblendTM mixer where fast and homogenous mixing is achieved is the end of the laminar regime and the early transition regime with baffles.  相似文献

Iodine distribution was studied in isolated porcine eyes after iontophoresis using 131I-labelled solutions and chemical methods. After a 15-min treatment with a therapeutically used iodine brine, the iodine content in the ocular tissues showed the following rank order: cornea > retina > vitreous body > anterior chamber fluid > lens. Replacement of the brine by 0.15 M NaI increased the uptake values in a different way, but the same rank order was maintained. The increase was highest in the cornea (5.6-fold) and only about 2-fold in the lens, nevertheless approaching now the level of 10(-4) M, a concentration which was regarded as being optimal for the antioxidant effect of I-. Among the other eye components, the relatively high iodine enrichment of the retina was remarkable. The data are discussed with respect to a possible protective, antioxidative and OH-scavenging efficacy of I- and to previous results in the literature concerning iodine uptake in ocular tissues.  相似文献

Doped manganese dioxide samples, containing cations of different valency, were prepared. The doped and undoped samples contained small amounts of physically held and chemically bound water. The X-ray diffraction patterns of the doped samples were very similar to the pattern of the undoped sample and they all belong to the-modification mixed with-MnO2 and-Mn2O3. The specific surface area of the samples measured by nitrogen adsorption and calculated by the s-method was in the range 2–5 m2g–1, indicating a lower porosity and a lower reactivity compared to the-forms. From measurements of pore radii the pores were classified as lying in the mesopore/macropore range (8–35 nm). A decrease in the mean pore radius was observed for the doped samples except for that doped with Li+ ions.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE: To determine the reproducibility of radial artery mass (RAM), in hypertensive patients. DESIGN AND METHODS: In 49 patients, RAM was measured using a high resolution echotracking device (Nius-02) which allows noninvasive measurement of diameter and wall thickness of the radial artery. RAM was validated in vitro by comparing weight of arterial segments to ultrasonographic measurement and determined as RAM = r (pi Re2-pi Ri2) where r is the arterial wall density (1.06 g/cm3), and Re and Ri are values of internal and external radii, respectively. Repeatability coefficient (RC2 = SDi2/n) was 1.3 mg. RESULTS: Blood pressure was (mean +/- SD) 146 +/- 19/85 +/- 15 mmHg, radial arterial diameter was 2,449 +/- 376 microns, radial wall thickness was 302 +/- 68 microns, RAM was 28 +/- 9 mg (range 13-43 mg). CONCLUSION: These results indicate that radial artery mass can be measured using a high resolution echotracking device.  相似文献
