Image composition is widely used in television and film industry to create synthetic visual effects. It requires seamless integration of different parts of two or more images into a single image. Existing image composition techniques only change the local contents of the resulting image while in many cases local changes may also require some global effects as well. For example, if the image of sun from one image is transferred to another image, the global brightness pattern should also be transferred. Unfortunately existing techniques cannot handle global effects of local content manipulations. This paper describes a novel image composition technique which captures global effects associated with a specific local content from one image and incorporates in the second image. In our proposed technique, all images are transformed to the frequency domain. The composite image is created in frequency domain by mixing different frequencies from multiple images and then transformed back to the spatial domain. We have experimented the proposed technique to shift the image of sun along with its global brightness pattern, the global effects of rain and also for transferring global texture pattern from one image to the other. In most of the cases the results produced by our algorithm appear far close to real images than state of the art existing image composition techniques. 相似文献

In communication industry one of the most rapidly growing area is wireless technology and its applications. The efficient access to radio spectrum is a requirement to make this communication feasible for the users that are running multimedia applications and establishing real-time connections on an already overcrowded spectrum. In recent times cognitive radios (CR) are becoming the prime candidates for improved utilization of available spectrum. The unlicensed secondary users share the spectrum with primary licensed user in such manners that the interference at the primary user does not increase from a predefined threshold. In this paper, we propose an algorithm to address the power control problem for CR networks. The proposed solution models the wireless system with a non-cooperative game, in which each player maximize its utility in a competitive environment. The simulation results shows that the proposed algorithm improves the performance of the network in terms of high SINR and low power consumption.
The full potential linearized augmented plane wave method of density functional theory has been used to investigate the structural, electronic, magnetic and thermoelectric properties of cubic perovskites BaVO3 and LaVO3. The ferromagnetic ground state has been found to be stable by comparing the total energies of non-spin-polarized and spin-polarized calculations performed for optimized unit cells. For both compounds, the bond length and tolerance factor are also measured. From the band structures and density of states plots, it is found that both compounds are half-metallic. We found that the presence of V at the octahedral site of these perovskites develops exchange splitting through p-d hybridization, which results in a stable ferromagnetic state. The observed exchange splitting is further clarified from the magnetic moment, charge and spin of the anion and cations. Finally, we also presented the calculated thermoelectric properties of these materials, which show that half-metallic BaVO3 and LaVO3 materials are potential contenders for thermoelectric applications. 相似文献
In this study, we demonstrate Zn1?xFexS (x = 0.0, 0.25, 0.50, 0.75, and 1.0) device applications by reporting electronic, magnetic, and optical properties, computed with Wien2k software, using density functional theory (DFT). The modified Becke and Johnson (mBJ) potential has been applied to accurately determine the material band gap. The presence of half-metallic ferromagnetism (HMF) is demonstrated. Moreover, the observed ferromagnetism is justified in terms of various splitting energies and the exchange constants. The Fe magnetic moment decreases from 4.0 μB due to the strong p ? d hybridization. A complete set of various optical parameters is also presented. The variation in the calculated static dielectric constant, due to Fe doping, is inversely related to the band gap that verifies Penn’s model. Moreover, the band gap of ZnS is tunable by the Fe doping, from ultraviolet to visible regions, depicting that the materials are appropriate for optoelectronic devices. 相似文献
Research using Internet surveys is an emerging field, yet research on the legitimacy of using Internet studies, particularly those targeting sensitive topics, remains under-investigated. The current study builds on the existing literature by exploring the demographic differences between Internet panel and RDD telephone survey samples, as well as differences in responses with regard to experiences of intimate partner violence perpetration and victimization, alcohol and substance use/abuse, PTSD symptomatology, and social support. Analyses indicated that after controlling for demographic differences, there were few differences between the samples in their disclosure of sensitive information, and that the online sample was more socially isolated than the phone sample. Results are discussed in terms of their implications for using Internet samples in research on sensitive topics. 相似文献
Recent research indicates the promising performance of employing reconfigurable systems to accelerate multimedia and communication applications. Nonetheless, they are yet to be widely adopted. One reason is the lack of efficient operating system support for these platforms. In this paper, we address the problem of runtime task scheduling as a main part of the operating systems. To do so, a new task replacement parameter, called Time-Improvement, is proposed for compiler assisted scheduling algorithms. In contrast with most related approach, we validate our approach using real application workload obtained from an application for multimedia test remotely taken by students. The proposed online task scheduling algorithm outperforms previous algorithms and accelerates task execution from 4% up to 20%. 相似文献
Systematic literature reviews (SLRs) are a major tool for supporting evidence-based software engineering. Adapting the procedures
involved in such a review to meet the needs of software engineering and its literature remains an ongoing process. As part
of this process of refinement, we undertook two case studies which aimed 1) to compare the use of targeted manual searches
with broad automated searches and 2) to compare different methods of reaching a consensus on quality. For Case 1, we compared
a tertiary study of systematic literature reviews published between January 1, 2004 and June 30, 2007 which used a manual
search of selected journals and conferences and a replication of that study based on a broad automated search. We found that
broad automated searches find more studies than manual restricted searches, but they may be of poor quality. Researchers undertaking
SLRs may be justified in using targeted manual searches if they intend to omit low quality papers, or they are assessing research
trends in research methodologies. For Case 2, we analyzed the process used to evaluate the quality of SLRs. We conclude that
if quality evaluation of primary studies is a critical component of a specific SLR, assessments should be based on three independent
evaluators incorporating at least two rounds of discussion. 相似文献
ObjectiveIn this paper, we present findings from an empirical study that was aimed at identifying the relative “perceived value” of CMMI level 2 specific practices based on the perceptions and experiences of practitioners of small and medium size companies. The objective of this study is to identify the extent to which a particular CMMI practice is used in order to develop a finer-grained framework, which encompasses the notion of perceived value within specific practices.MethodWe used face-to-face questionnaire based survey sessions as the main approach to collecting data from 46 software development practitioners from Malaysia and Vietnam. We asked practitioners to choose and rank CMMI level 2 practices against the five types of assessments (high, medium, low, zero or do not know). From this, we have proposed the notion of ‘perceived value’ associated with each practice.ResultsWe have identified three ‘requirements management’ practices as having a ‘high perceived value’. The results also reveal the similarities and differences in the perceptions of Malaysian and Vietnamese practitioners with regard to the relative values of different practices of CMMI level 2 process areas.ConclusionsSmall and medium size companies should not be seen as being “at fault” for not adopting CMMI – instead the Software Process Improvement (SPI) implementation approaches and its transition mechanisms should be improved.
