In this paper, the wave propagation approach is employed to study the vibration characteristics of functionally graded material circular cylindrical shells. Axial modal dependence is approximated by exponential functions. This is a very simple and easily applicable technique. This avoids a large amount of algebraic manipulations. A theoretical analysis of shell natural frequencies are conducted for various boundary conditions. Validity and accuracy of the present method are confirmed by comparing the present results with those available in the literature. Some of the doped crystals of bimetallic thiocyanate complexes are found to exhibit excellent nonlinear optical properties. Manganese doped cadmium mercury thiocyanate single crystals of appreciable size have been obtained from silica gel by the process of diffusion. The X-ray diffraction studies show the crystal lattice to be tetragonal revealing that doping does not alter the structure of the parent crystal. To study the crystalline perfection of the grown crystals, high resolution X-ray diffraction analysis was carried out. Being a nonlinear crystal, Kurtz powder test was carried out to confirm its second harmonic generation efficiency. The results are discussed in comparison with pure CMTC. 相似文献

The effect of separate pod and root temperature regimes (all four combinations of 28/22 and 40/34 °C day/night temperature), imposed from the time of peg penetration until harvest, on yield and seed composition of three Spanish genotypes of groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L) was investigated. A decrease in pod temperature from 40/34 to 28/22 °C increased yield and oil, starch and protein mass per plant irrespective of root temperature. Additionally, a reduction in pod temperature decreased protein concentration and increased the sum of oil and starch concentration at a root temperature of 28/22 °C, whereas at a root temperature of 40/34 °C a decrease in pod temperature increased protein concentration. Root temperature reduction diminished oil concentration of genotypes AH 6179 and TMV 2 at a pod temperature of 40/34 °C. A decline in pod temperature affected fatty acid composition through a decrease in palmitic acid irrespective of root temperature and an increase in linoleic acid at a root temperature of 28/22 °C. A root temperature effect on fatty acid composition was not detected. It is concluded that field management practices and choice of genotype can influence groundnut yield and seed composition through effects on pod and root temperature. © 2001 Society of Chemical Industry 相似文献

The use of quality control tool for authentication of Jadwar (Delphinium denudatum Wall. ex Hook.f. & Thomson), a folk herbal drug used for the treatment of different ailments, was studied. People face problems of adulteration for this drug at global, regional, national and local levels. Two different plant species are commercially marketed in the Indo‐Pak Subcontinent under the same trade name of Jadwar. One is D. denudatum Wall. ex Hook.f. & Thomson and the other is Aconitum heterophyllum Wall. ex Royle. To focus on this problem, a marketable available drug sample of Jadwar was authenticated by using basic microscopy tools (LM) and advanced chemo‐taxonomic markers. Authentication, quality and standardization of this drug was achieved using morphology, organoleptography, UV and IR analyses, scanning electron microscopy of pollen and anatomical investigations. The techniques used for authentication marked the clear difference between the studied plants. Microscopic studies, chemotaxonomic investigation and other techniques used in this project provided the basis for the authentication of this species. 相似文献

The effect of addition of electrolytes on gas hold-up of air/water system was investigated experimentally in a laboratory scale bubble column. The experiments were carried out with four electrolytes, namely, NaCl, MgSO4·7H2O, Na2SO4 and CaCl2·2H2O and the concentrations of the solutions were varied from 0 to 0.3 mol/l. Enhancement of gas hold-up was observed for all four electrolytes at concentrations less than 0.1 mol/l. With the increase in concentration, the gas hold-up showed two different trends; in Na2SO4 and CaCl2·2H2O solutions, gas hold-up formed a sharp peak after the enhancement and leveled off at a value somewhat higher than that in water, whereas in NaCl and MgSO4·7H2O solutions, gas hold-up leveled off immediately after the enhancement without forming any peak. Experiments were also conducted to measure the surface tensions of the solutions with special focus in the low concentration region. A strong relation between the gas hold-up enhancement and the change of surface tension with the addition of electrolyte was found. It was also observed that the concentration at which maximum value of C(dσ/dC)2 i.e. (concentration × surface tension gradient with respect to concentration2) is obtained corresponds to the concentration at which maximum gas hold-up enhancement occurs. 相似文献

Pyrazinamide (PZA) has been in use for almost 50 years as a first-line drug for short-course chemotherapy against Mycobacterium tuberculosis. In this study, PCR mediated automated DNA sequencing is used to check the prevalence of PZA resistance among treatment failure cases of pulmonary tuberculosis. Out of 50 clinical isolates examined, 39 had mutations in the pncA gene that encodes Pyrazinamidase, an enzyme required to activate PZA. Of these, 31 (79.5%) were localized to three regions of pncA. We found two isolates with hitherto unreported mutation at amino acid 26 (Ala→Gly) of pncA. 相似文献

The selective catalytic reduction of NOx with NH3 in the presence of decane over Cu/ZSM-5 catalysts prepared from H+ and Na+ZSM-5 precursors were investigated. Cu/NaZSM-5 catalyst showed significantly higher NOx conversion compared to Cu/HZSM-5. However, the presence of decane decreased the activity of both the catalysts, due to coke formation. Cu/HZSM-5 catalyst showed a larger decline in NOx conversion with time on stream compared to Cu/NaZSM-5. The higher activity of Cu/NaZSM-5 is attributed, to the promoting effect of Na+ cations in the formation of active Cu+ and nitrite and nitrate intermediates species and retardation of coke formation. 相似文献

Gray cotton fabric shows hydrophobic characteristics due to presence of non-cellulosic impurities in outermost layers of cotton fiber. In the present study, atmospheric pressure plasma treatment for the removal of the non-cellulosic impurities from gray cotton fabric is investigated. Gray cotton fabric is treated with air dielectric barrier discharge at different time interval, and characterized by attenuated total reflectance Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Different species formed in plasma are identified using optical emission spectroscopy. The results clearly show that the plasma treatment improves wettability of gray cotton which is due to the removal of non-cellulosic impurities and due to the formation of polar carboxylate group. Removal of wax after plasma treatment is clearly reflected in ATR-FTIR spectra as disappearance of symmetric and asymmetric stretching of alkyl group at 2852.24 and 2917.81?cm?1. Further, ATR-FTIR spectroscopy provides a fast and satisfactory assessment of removal of impurities from cotton surface when untreated and plasma-treated cotton fabric is exposed to HCl vapor and subsequently spectra are collected. We observed a strong carboxyl peak is induced at 1749?cm?1 in case of untreated cotton. While for plasma-treated cotton fabrics substantial variation in the intensity of 1641 and 1749?cm?1 peak is observed with increase in plasma treatment time. The morphological changes observed by SEM are in accordance with ATR-FTIR results. The results are compared with conventionally (alkaline scouring) treated cotton fabric. The study reveals that atmospheric pressure plasma has potential to become dry and environment friendly process to improve wettability of gray cotton fabric. 相似文献
