Six essential oils (EOs), Juniperus phoenicea (leaves and berries), Thymus capitatus, Lauris nobilis, Melaleuca armillaris, and Eucalyptus gracilis, were screened for their antioxidant and antihypertensive activity as well as their chemical compositions. We identified and quantified 24 compounds (representing 99.8% of total oil) for J. phoenicea leaves, 14 compounds (representing 98.8% of total oil) for J. phoenicea berries, 11 compounds (representing 99.6% of total oil) for T. capitatus, 32 compounds (representing 98.9% of total oil) for L. nobilis, 32 compounds (representing 98.7% of total oil) for M. armillaris, and 26 compounds (representing 99.3% of total oil) for E. gracilis. In the 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) assay, the antioxidant activity was in the range of 0.59 to 2183.6 mg/L, whereas T. capitatus (1.24 ± 0.05 mg/L) gave the best activity in the 2,2'-azinobis-3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonate assay. Antihypertensive activity was evaluated by testing the vasorelaxing capacity of EOs on rat aorta precontracted by phenylephrine (10(-6) M). T. capitatus and L. nobilis were most active for an antihypertensive activity (29 ± 3 and 59 ± 2 mg/L, respectively). Correlations between chemical composition or antioxidant activity and/or antihypertensive activity were studied. Significant correlation has been found for antihypertensive activity and p-cymene (R(2) = 0.86), β-elemene (R(2) = 0.90), and β-myrcene (R(2) = 0.76). A good correlation has been found between antihypertensive activity and antioxidant activity by DPPH assay (R(2) = 0.98). Antioxidant activity can contribute to the prevention of the increase of the blood pressure. According to the literature, no study has been reported until now of correlation between antihypertensive activity and antioxidant activity. Natural EOs can find its interest and application in a medicinal area. 相似文献

Phosphogypsum (PG: CaSO4·2H2O) is a waste product generated by the phosphate industry. World production of this waste exceeds 200 million tonnes per year. PG, discharged into the sea, watercourses or in wilderness stocks, contains toxic elements harmful to ecosystems and human health, including heavy metals and radionuclides, and there is therefore a concern regarding environmental impacts. The concentrations of these elements vary between the regions and the processes used, all of which require particular and specific follow-up after the release of PG and during its use. Phosphogypsum is used in agriculture for soil amendment or as fertilizer, as well as in the brick and cement industry, and in road construction. 相似文献

Monolithic materials prepared from a mixture of n‐lauryl methacrylate (LMA) and ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA) dedicated to nano‐liquid chromatography separation were synthesized using in situ UV polymerization in 75 µm inner diameter capillary tubing. A mixture of cyclohexanol and ethylene glycol was used as a porogen to control porosity. While the preparation conditions yielded satisfactory analytical results, values of pertinent parameters turned out to be critical for obtaining columns with efficient separation. In particular, the impact of two key parameters was studied here in an attempt to identify optimal preparation conditions: (a) different concentrations of the crosslinker EGDMA and (b) different porogen compositions while the monomer to porogen ratio was kept constant. Resulting monolithic phases were characterized in terms of permeability, mean pore diameter and swelling using three different eluents (water, acetonitrile and a mixture at maximum viscosity). First, the LMA/EGDMA monolithic phases present peculiar morphology and hydrodynamic properties for 37% by weight of EGDMA, as reflected by the peak observed for their permeability and mean pore diameter. Swelling experiments revealed the coexistence of two phases in the monolithic structure: a highly crosslinked rigid phase which was insensitive to swelling in the presence of solvent and a weakly crosslinked flexible phase exhibiting significant swelling, with a transition to such a biphasic behavior taking place at 37% by weight of EGDMA. The effects of porogen composition and network swelling properties are presented based on a combination of the Flory ? Huggins theory of isotropic mixing in polymer solutions and the Flory ? Traceability and authenticity of olive oils have become a major instrument to guarantee the consumer’s protection. Recently,
determination of adulteration of olive oils is based on the analysis of simple sequence repeats. In this study, we evaluate
the feasibility of identifying above cultivars and the derived oils by the analysis of SSR markers. To this purpose, 22 virgin
olive oils were prepared in the laboratory and DNA was extracted using a commercial kit, and 8 SSR markers were analyzed.
The obtained results indicated that the comparison of the genetic profile of DNA extracted from oil and leaves of the cultivars
studied concluded different genetic profiles in some cultivars when studied for their genome as well as for their oils. These
additional alleles in oil’s profile appear as minor peaks can be originating from the pollinators and which are present in
the genome of the seed embryo. Hierarchical classification of varieties based on similarity measures and clustering was globally
inconsistent with the grouping of varieties by end use and the geographical origin. Finally, we set up a categorization means
to discriminate all the types of oil among them with the minimum of markers (three markers). 相似文献

Scorpion venoms contain active neurotoxins known to act selectively at the level of voltage sensitive Na+ and K+ channels on mammal nervous system. In the present report, we show for the first time that the venom of scorpion Buthus occitanus tunetanus (Bot) contains compounds able to activate another cell function in non excitable cells. Addition of this venom to the culture media of 3T3-L1 adipocytes or freshly dissociated rat adipocytes rapidly increases lipolysis as estimated by glycerol release (approximately 3 to 4 fold over basal values) in a dose-dependent manner (EC50 approximately 12 +/- 1.25 micrograms/ml; n = 3). Bot venom effect was lower and not additive to the effect produced by isoproterenol (IPE) (10 microM), a main lipolytic agent, n = 3. In Sephadex G-50 size exclusion chromatography, the lipolytic activity was excluded and not associated to the included neurotoxic fraction. Furthermore, no lipolytic effect could be detected in the Na+ channel specific toxin II purified from Androctonus australis hector (AaHII) or the K+ voltage-dependent channel toxin from Androctonus mauritanicus mauritanicus (KTx). Propranolol (a non selective beta adrenoreceptor (beta AR) antagonist), alprenolol and pindolol (selective beta 1/beta 2 antagonists) totally inhibited in a dose-dependent manner the lipolytic response to Bot venom (IC50 approximately 1 x 10(-7), 7.5 x 10(-8) and 3 x 10(-7)M, respectively), suggesting that venom stimulated lipolysis through the beta AR pathway. The pharmacological profiles of molecules acting more selectively on beta AR subtypes such as CGP 12177 (beta 1/ beta 2 antagonist with beta 3 agonist properties), CGP 20712A (beta 1 antagonist) and ICI 118551 (beta 2 antagonist) strongly suggest that lipolytic action of venom mainly involves the beta 2/beta 1 AR subtypes. 相似文献

Cerastocytin is a thrombin-like serine protease with potent platelet-proaggregating properties. It is able to activate factor XIII but is less active than thrombin on plasma coagulation. The aggregation induced by cerastocytin resembles that induced by thrombin, since rabbit washed platelets desensitized by a pretreatment with thrombin do not aggregate in the presence of cerastocytin. Furthermore, preincubation of platelets with monoclonal antibodies specific for glycoproteins GPIb or GPIIbIIIa blocks receptor sites for thrombin and fibrinogen, respectively, and prevents their aggregation induced by thrombin or cerastocytin. A monoclonal antibody, inhibitor of von Willebrand factor (VWF)-dependent agglutination, blocks the aggregation induced by cerastocytin. After activation with cerastocytin, washed rabbit platelets degranulate and secrete ATP and phospholipase A2. However, cerastocytin is less potent in inducing the release of phospholipase A2 than in inducing ATP secretion. 相似文献
