A new and straightforward design procedure for simple canonical topologies of allpole, active‐RC, low‐selectivity band‐pass (BP) filters, with low sensitivity to component tolerances is presented. The procedure is primarily intended for discrete‐component, low‐power filter applications using just one amplifier for relatively high‐order filters. The design procedure starts out with an ‘optimized’ low‐pass (LP) prototype filter, yielding an ‘optimized’ BP filter, whereby the wealth of ‘optimized’ single‐amplifier LP filter designs can be exploited. Using a so‐called ‘lossy’ LP–BP transformation, closed‐form design equations for the design of second‐ to eighth‐order, single‐amplifier BP filters are presented. The low sensitivity, low power consumption, and low noise features of the resulting circuits, as well as the influence of the finite gain‐bandwidth product and component spread, are demonstrated for the case of a fourth‐order filter example. The optimized single‐opamp fourth‐order filter is compared with other designs, such as the cascade of optimized Biquads. Using PSpice with a TL081 opamp model, the filter performance is simulated and the results compared and verified with measurements of a discrete‐component breadboard filter using 1% resistors, 1% capacitors, and a TL081 opamp. The cDNA sequence for CAP160, an acidic protein previously linked with cold acclimation in spinach (Spinacia oleracea L.), was characterized and found to encode a novel acidic protein of 780 amino acids having very limited homology to a pair of Arabidopsis thaliana stress-regulated proteins, rd29A and rd29B. The lack of similarity in the structural organization of the spinach and Arabidopsis genes highlights the absence of a high degree of conservation of this cold-stress gene across taxonomic boundaries. The protein has several unique motifs that may relate to its function during cold stress. Expression of the CAP160 mRNA was increased by low-temperature exposure and water stress in a manner consistent with a probable function during stresses that involve dehydration. The coding sequences for CAP160 and CAP85, another spinach cold-stress protein, were introduced into tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum) under the control of the 35S promoter using Agrobacterium tumefaciens-based transformation. Tobacco plants expressing the proteins individually or coexpressing both proteins were evaluated for relative freezing-stress tolerance. The killing temperature for 50% of the cells of the transgenic plants was not different from that of the wild-type plants. As determined by a more sensitive time/temperature kinetic study, plants expressing the spinach proteins had slightly lower levels of electrolyte leakage than wild-type plants, indicative of a small reduction of freezing-stress injury. Clearly, the heterologous expression of two cold-stress proteins had no profound influence on stress tolerance, a result that is consistent with the quantitative nature of cold-stress-tolerance traits.  相似文献

Ultrafast time‐domain thermoreflectance (TDTR) is utilized to extract the through‐plane thermal conductivity (Λ LSCO) of epitaxial La0.5Sr0.5CoO3?δ (LSCO) of varying thickness (<20 nm) on LaAlO3 and SrTiO3 substrates. These LSCO films possess ordered oxygen vacancies as the primary means of lattice mismatch accommodation with the substrate, which induces compressive/tensile strain and thus controls the orientation of the oxygen vacancy ordering (OVO). TDTR results demonstrate that the room‐temperature Λ LSCO of LSCO on both substrates (1.7 W m?1 K?1) are nearly a factor of four lower than that of bulk single‐crystal LSCO (6.2 W m?1 K?1). Remarkably, this approaches the lower limit of amorphous oxides (e.g., 1.3 W m?1 K?1 for glass), with no dependence on the OVO orientation. Through theoretical simulations, origins of the glass‐like thermal conductivity of LSCO are revealed as a combined effect resulting from oxygen vacancies (the dominant factor), Sr substitution, size effects, and the weak electron/phonon coupling within the LSCO film. The absence of OVO dependence in the measured Λ LSCO is rationalized by two main effects: (1) the nearly isotropic phononic thermal conductivity resulting from the imperfect OVO planes when δ is small; (2) the missing electronic contribution to Λ LSCO along the through‐plane direction for these ultrathin LSCO films on insulating substrates.  相似文献

A procedure to characterize municipal solid waste (MSW) for geotechnical engineering purposes is developed based on experience with waste characterization and testing. Existing MSW classification systems are reviewed briefly, and the field and laboratory waste characterization programs of two important projects are presented. Findings on the influence of the waste’s physical composition on its mechanical response from these projects and recent studies of MSW are integrated to develop a waste characterization procedure for efficient collection of the relevant information on landfill operation and waste physical characteristics that are most likely to affect the geotechnical properties of MSW. A phased approach to implementation of this procedure is proposed as a best practice for the physical characterization of MSW for geotechnical purposes. The scope of the phased procedure can be adjusted to optimize the effort required to collect relevant information on a project-specific basis. The procedure includes a systematic evaluation of the moisture and organic content of MSW, because they are important factors in the geotechnical characterization of MSW.  相似文献

The effect of NaCl added in different quantities on thermodynamic properties, granulometric characteristics, and structure of glycine in a crystallization process was investigated. Solubilities of α‐ and γ‐polymorphs in the presence of varying amounts of NaCl were analyzed. In order to examine the impact of the additive on granulometric properties of glycine, crystal morphology was examined by observing crystals under a scanning electron microscope. Crystal size distribution was determined by sieve analysis. By X‐ray diffraction analysis, the critical concentration of NaCl at which the structure of glycine changed, could be defined. The purity of obtained polymorphs was confirmed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy.  相似文献

Blood brain barrier (BBB) is a dynamic interface responsible for proper functioning of brain, but also a major obstacle for effective treatment of neurological diseases. Increased levels of free radicals, in high ferrous and high lipid content surrounding, induce lipid peroxidation, leading to production of 4-hydroxynonenal (HNE). HNE modifies all key proteins responsible for proper brain functioning thus playing a major role in the onset of neurological diseases. To investigate HNE effects on BBB permeability, we developed two in vitro BBB models–‘physiological’ and ‘pathological’. The latter mimicked HNE modified extracellular matrix under oxidative stress conditions in brain pathologies. We showed that exogenous HNE induce activation of antioxidative defense systems by increasing catalase activity and glutathione content as well as reducing lipid peroxide levels in endothelial cells and astrocytes of ‘physiological’ model. While in ‘pathological’ model, exogenous HNE further increased lipid peroxidation levels of endothelial cells and astrocytes, followed by increase in Nrf2 and glutathione levels in endothelial cells. At lipid composition level, HNE caused increase in ω3 polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) level in endothelial cells, followed by decrease in ω3 PUFA level and increase in monounsaturated fatty acid level in astrocytes. Using these models, we showed for the first time that HNE in ‘pathological’ model can reduce BBB permeability.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to determine the content of free amino acids (FAA) and their ratio in ewe's milk cheese from the island Krk during its ripening. FAA content was determined by reversed phase HPLC (RP‐HPLC) of cheese aqueous/ethanol extracts after FAA were transformed into their 6‐aminoquinolyl‐N‐hydroxysuccinimidyl carbamate derivatives. Their concentration increased during ripening, reaching the value of 5% in cheese dry matter. The dominant FAA were glutamic acid>leucine>valine>aspartic acid>phenylalanine>serine>proline, and higher content of nonessential vs essential FAA was revealed. Krk cheese has, in relation to other cheeses, higher values for glutamic acid/leucine, glutamic acid/phenylalanine, glutamic acid/proline and smaller values for leucine/aspartic acid, valine/aspartic acid, phenylalanine/aspartic acid ratios, while other ratios are comparable to those of other hard ovine cheeses.  相似文献

The hydration of iron-rich calcium aluminate cement (CAC) has been investigated by differential calorimeter and quantitative powder X-ray diffraction (QXRD). A simplified stoichiometric model of early age CAC hydration based on reaction schemes of the principal mineral monocalcium aluminate was employed. The CAC characteristic feature of retardation of nucleation and growth mechanism with temperature requires employing more than one kinetic mechanism to describe the resulting complex hydration kinetics. This paper proposes a single equation kinetic model of CAC hydration which comprises simultaneously three main mechanisms: nucleation and growth, chemical interaction and mass transfer. A gradual change between kinetic mechanisms was grasped with a reasonable inter-dependency of the kinetic parameters. The overall hydration kinetics was described relative to the amount of the both reactants, cement and free water.  相似文献
