Mineral extraction and processing industries have been cited as sources of environmental contamination and pollution. The inclusion of wastes into productive cycles represents an alternative form of restoration, which is interesting from both environmental and economic standpoints. In this work, the development of ceramic tile formulations containing kaolin processing and granite sawing wastes was investigated using the statistical design of mixture experiments methodology. Ten formulations using the raw materials, red clay, kaolin processing and granite sawing wastes, were selected and used in the mixture design. Test specimens were fired and characterized to determine their water absorption, linear firing shrinkage and modulus of rupture. Regression models were calculated, correlating the properties with the composition. The significance and validity of the models were confirmed by statistical analysis and verification experiments. The regression models were used to optimize the waste content in ceramic compositions. The results showed that formulations containing up to 62% of waste could be used in the production of ceramic tiles.  相似文献

Plasma powder surfacing is one of the latest processes for application of coatings, with control of dilution as its main feature. Surfacing with superduplex stainless steels is an interesting option for the construction and repair of equipment for applications in a highly corrosive environment, allowing the desired characteristics to be achieved: corrosion resistance and good mechanical properties. The aim of this work is to assess the ferrite content in the weld metal and the mechanical characteristics via microhardness profiles in surfacing of C-Mn steel pipes with deposition of UNS S32760 by plasma powder surfacing. Welding operations were carried out on pipes with deposition of SDSS, employing three welding heat input levels, varying the welding speed or the welding current. Then the geometry was analysed, the ferrite content in the weld metal was quantified and the microhardness profile was recorded. Variation in welding heat input caused changes in weld bead geometry, with variation in the welding current producing the most significant changes. Increase in heat input caused decrease in ferrite content of the weld metal. Regarding microhardness, only the condition with a higher level of welding current gave sufficiently high levels of microhardness in the weld metal.  相似文献

Pectin was chemically modified with different amounts of trisodium trimetaphosphate (STMP) in aqueous solution (pH = 12), thereby giving a material with reduced water solubility. The physiochemical characterization of this new material was carried out through Fourier transform infrared and thermogravimetric analyses. Phosphated pectin (Pect‐STMP) together with prebiotic (oligosaccharide) were incorporated into an aqueous dispersion of polymethacrylate (Eudragit® RS 30 D) in order to obtain free films using a casting process (50 °C) on a Teflon plate. The free films were evaluated using water vapour transmission, average swelling index in simulated gastric fluid (SGF) and simulated intestinal fluid, scanning electron microscopy and a diffusion study with theophylline in buffer solution with and without pectinolytic enzyme. The results suggest that the new material can be used in the coating process for oral solid‐reservoir systems, to prevent the premature release of drugs in SGF (pH = 1.2). Furthermore, the presence of both Pect‐STMP and oligosaccharide favours the specific degradation of the pellicle by the action of the enzymes produced by colonic microflora. The material obtained in this work has the potential to be applied in devices for drug delivery in the colon, making possible modified release of drugs. Nevertheless, subsequent colon‐specific experiments in vivo need to be carried out in order to confirm the possible application of this new material. A gold electrode surface was modified using a dinuclear copper complex [CuII2 (Ldtb)(μ-OCH3)](BPh4) and then coated with a chitosan film. This biomimetic polymer film-coated electrode was employed to eliminate the interference from ascorbic acid and uric acid in the sensitive and selective determination of dopamine. The optimized conditions obtained for the biomimetic electrode were 0.1 M phosphate buffer solution (pH 8.0), complex concentration of 2.0 × 10−4 M, 0.1% of chitosan and 0.25% of glyoxal. Under the optimum conditions, the calibration curve was linear in the concentration range of 4.99 × 10−7 to 1.92 × 10−5 M, and detection and quantification limits were 3.57 × 10−7 M and 1.07 × 10−6 M, respectively. The recovery study gave values of 95.2-102.6%. The lifetime of this biomimetic sensor showed apparent loss of activity after 70 determinations. The results obtained with the modified electrode for dopamine quantification in the injection solution matrix were in good agreement with those of the pharmacopoeia method.  相似文献

Yerba mate (YM) is widely consumed in Latin American countries, and its residues can be used as bio-resources such as reinforced in epoxy composites. The present work aims to produce epoxy resin composites and evaluate the influence of post-consumed YM as reinforcement. The concentrations of YM used were 5, 10, and 20% (wt/wt). Chemical, thermal, morphological, and dynamic mechanical behaviors were explored. The YM incorporation did not influence chemically on the epoxy structure and a pull-out phenomenon was observed as YM content increased. The YM at lower concentrations (5 and 10%) led to higher values of activation energies calculated from model-free isoconversional methods. On the other hand, the composite e/YM 20 wt% improved all dynamic-mechanical properties. YM proved to be a suitable and cheap reinforcement for epoxy resin.  相似文献

In this study, microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) was chemically modified with 3-(aminopropyl)triethoxysilane and added to epoxy to improve chemical, thermal and dynamic-mechanical characteristics of the composites. The composites were manufactured aided by sonication with 1.0%, 2.5%, or 5.0% wt/wt of untreated MCC or amino-functionalized MCC (MCC-Si). The epoxy/MCC-Si composites showed a decrease in the ─OH band by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, and X-ray diffraction analysis indicated better dispersion. The incorporation of MCC-Si in epoxy resin decreased the heat of reaction, increased activation energy values (Ea) and pre-exponential factor (A), and did not affect thermal degradation. All conversion degree (α) versus temperature curves for the composites showed a sigmoidal shape. MCC-Si composites showed better dynamic-mechanical properties than the MCC counterparts, and the functionalization effect was evidenced in storage modulus (E') and loss modulus (E"). At 2.5% wt/wt of MCC-Si content an increase of 119% in E' at the glassy region, 127% in E' at the rubbery region and 173% in E" was observed compared to the neat resin, whereas the Tg barely changed among samples. Good adhesion between the amino-functionalized MCC and the epoxy matrix was observed at the fracture surface, evidencing that surface modification of MCC improves their chemical interaction.  相似文献

Umbilical cord blood (UCB) has long been seen as a rich source of naïve cells with strong regenerative potential, likely mediated by paracrine signals. More recently, small extracellular vesicles (sEV), such as exosomes, have been shown to play essential roles in cell-to-cell communication, via the transport of numerous molecules, including small RNAs. Often explored for their potential as biomarkers, sEV are now known to have regenerative and immunomodulating characteristics, particularly if isolated from stem cell-rich tissues. In this study, we aim to characterize the immunomodulating properties of umbilical cord blood mononuclear cell-derived sEV (UCB-MNC-sEV) and explore their therapeutic potential for inflammatory skin diseases. UCB-MNC-sEV were shown to shift macrophages toward an anti-inflammatory phenotype, which in turn exert paracrine effects on fibroblasts, despite previous inflammatory stimuli. Additionally, the incubation of PBMC with UCB-MNC-sEV resulted in a reduction of total CD4+ and CD8+ T-cell proliferation and cytokine release, while specifically supporting the development of regulatory T-cells (Treg), by influencing FOXP3 expression. In a 3D model of psoriatic skin, UCB-MNC-sEV reduced the expression of inflammatory and psoriatic markers IL6, IL8, CXCL10, COX2, S100A7, and DEFB4. In vivo, UCB-MNC-sEV significantly prevented or reversed acanthosis in imiquimod-induced psoriasis, and tendentially increased the number of Treg in skin, without having an overall impact on disease burden. This work provides evidence for the anti-inflammatory and tolerogenic effect of UCB-MNC-sEV, which may be harnessed for the treatment of Th17-driven inflammatory skin diseases, such as psoriasis.  相似文献

The repair of bone fractures is a clinical challenge for patients with impaired healing, such as osteoporosis. Currently, different strategies have been developed to design new biomaterials, enhancing their interactions with biological systems and conducting the cellular behavior in the desired direction to help fracture healing. In the present work, hydroxyapatite-graphene oxide (HA-GO) nanocomposites were produced and the morphological and physicochemical influences of the addition of 0.5 wt%, 1.0 wt% and 1.5 wt% of GO to HA were observed. FEG-SEM and TEM analyses of HA-GO nanocomposites showed HA nanoparticles adhered to the surface of the GO sheets, suggesting an effective method to form nanostructured graphene-based biomaterials. As confirmation, physicochemical analyses by Raman, FTIR and TGA demonstrated a strong affinity between HA and GO, according to the increase of concentration from 0.5 wt% to 1.5 wt% GO in the HA-GO nanocomposites. Also, in order to evaluate the HA-GO nanocomposites behavior under biological microenvironment, in vitro bioactivity and indirect cytotoxicity tests were performed. FEG-SEM analyses confirmed the positive results for the bioactivity properties of HA-GO nanocomposite and indirect cytotoxicity demonstrated that even with a decrease in the hDPSCs viability and proliferation, when increasing to 1.5 wt% of GO concentration, high level of cell viability was exhibited by HA-GO nanocomposites. These biological results suggested the 0.5 wt% HA-GO nanocomposite as a potential bioactive bone graft and a promising biomaterial for bone tissue regeneration, when compared to the pure HA.  相似文献

Both water balance (WB) and rating curve (RC) are methods for estimating streamflow. The first is mostly used to estimate reservoir outflows, while the second is usually adopted in hydrometeorological network streamflow gauges. While WB uses hourly collected data, the RC estimates streamflow using current water level and extrapolation techniques. The objective of this study was to analyze variations in the reservoir’s hourly outflow at Queimado Hydroelectric Power Plant (HPP Queimado) and to propose a method to evaluate whether the estimate of the daily outflows, obtained by the WB method, is similar to the flow values obtained at a conventional station. The logistic regression (LR) model was used because it is a method that adopts binary, categorically dependent variables to identify the event of interest. The results showed that the values of streamflow, obtained from an average of two daily readings, were a good representation of the flows in the region. The LR was able to identify atypical data, especially in the rainy season. This means that data consistency analysis can be faster and safer, when adequately employed and considering the proposed conditions, contributing to both management policies and the management of water resources.

Characterization of the pollution charge of drainages from pyrite mines of Aljustrel (Portugal) was made. Laboratory experiments were performed in order to recover copper by cementation and remove iron, zinc and acidity by neutralization with lime. It was found that the removal of the metal ions is completed when pH reaches a step at 5.0–5.5, whichever the ratio between Fe(II) and Fe(III).  相似文献
