In this paper, we present a general procedure to test conjunctive query containment. We divide the containment problem into four categories, taking into account the underlying semantics (set or bag theoretic) and the presence or absence of built-in predicates in the queries. After a brief review of previous work on conjunctive query containment, we present a new procedure, called QCC (Query Containment Checker), which we show to be a general and uniform procedure to check the containment among conjunctive queries under the four categories mentioned above. We briefly describe the use of QCC to check bag containment of conjunctive queries, and explain in detail how to use QCC to check set containment of conjunctive queries with built-in predicates. We have used a subthreshold summation protocol to analyze spatial color-color interaction. By means of a CRT color monitor, we measured the threshold contours for a spatial frequency of 0.5 cycles/degree. Heterochromatic flicker photometry was used to obtain isoluminance. The results suggest that the blue-yellow (b-y) and red-green (r-g) contrast thresholds remained unchanged by the addition of fixed r-g and b-y subthreshold pedestals. Our subthreshold summation data then support the stochastic independence of colorvision mechanisms derived from Mullen and Sankeralli's work [Vision Res. 39, 733 (1999)] despite the differences that exist between the two experimental methods.  相似文献

A technique that allows one to measure simultaneously the three velocity components in a fluid plane is presented. One obtains the quantitative information from only one holographic recording by combining two different reconstruction processes. As both processes use an interferometric comparison of two waves, we refer to this technique as dual holographic interferometry. The far-field fringe pattern that is obtained when reconstruction is made with an expanded laser beam allows one to determine the in-plane velocity components. The image-field fringe pattern that is obtained when a pointwise laser beam is used for reconstruction contains information about an out-of-plane velocity component. As the two reconstruction processes have different sensitivities, two different ways to combine them are proposed. The system has been demonstrated in a fluidlike solid object and in a convective flow.  相似文献

In construction projects, resource availability might limit the implementation of ideal schedules. Especially, when repetitive activities are involved, traditional resource‐constrained project scheduling problem (RCPSP) models fail to allocate the resource consumption in an efficient manner. Besides, actual models only provide local optimal solutions and do not incorporate activity acceleration routines. To fulfill this gap, partially, a mathematical optimization model, the multimode RCPSP for repetitive activities in construction projects, is proposed and solved to optimality; it takes into account acceleration routines under real construction scenarios using spreadsheets. The article shows a complete computational experimentation over a real construction project, considering several scenarios of resource availabilities and continuity conditions. The model allows analyzing the resources efficiency indexes comparing them to resource consumptions, continuity of activities, and objective functions that reveal that fragmented activities do not provide better resource efficiency outcomes.  相似文献

We describe a patient with a non-0:1, non-0:139 Vibrio cholerae septicemia associated with ecythema gangrenosa-like skin lesions. The patient acquired the infection in Puerto Rico. Traditionally air quality networks have been carrying out the continuous, on-line measurement of volatile organic compounds (VOC) in ambient air with GC-FID. In this paper some identification and coelution problems observed while using this technique in long-term measurement campaigns are described. In order to solve these problems a GC-MS was set up and operated simultaneously with a GC-FID for C2-C11 VOCs measurement.There are few on-line, unattended, long term measurements of atmospheric VOCs performed with GC-MS. In this work such a system has been optimized for that purpose, achieving good repeatability, linearity, and detection limits of the order of the GC-FID ones, even smaller in some cases. VOC quantification has been made by using response factors, which is not frequent in on-line GC-MS. That way, the identification and coelution problems detected in the GC-FID, which may led to reporting erroneous data, could be corrected.The combination of GC-FID and GC-MS as complementary techniques for the measurement of speciated VOCs in ambient air at sub-ppbv levels is proposed. Some results of the measurements are presented, including concentration values for some compounds not found until now on public ambient air VOC databases, which were identified and quantified combining both techniques. Results may also help to correct previously published VOC data with wrongly identified compounds by reprocessing raw chromatographic data.  相似文献

Anthropometric and demographic characteristics are important determinants of exercise performance in healthy subjects, but their influence has not yet been studied in severe chronic heart failure, although peak oxygen uptake is frequently assessed in such patients for prognostic purposes. The aim of the present analysis was to examine the association between peak oxygen uptake and age, gender, and measures of body size in patients with severe chronic heart failure. We selected 122 (99 male) adult heart transplant candidates who were able to perform a bicycle ergometer test with respiratory gas analysis until voluntary fatigue. Peak oxygen uptake was higher in male than in female patients, both before and after adjustment for weight. In single regression analysis on the total study population, peak oxygen uptake was positively related to weight and to height, but inversely to age (r = 0.59 (P < 0.001), 0.42 (P < 0.001), and -0.33 (P < 0.001), respectively). Multiple stepwise regression analysis identified weight (P < 0.001), age (P < 0.001), and gender (P < 0.01) as independent determinants of peak oxygen uptake (cumulative R2 = 0.45). Similar to the findings in healthy subjects, peak oxygen uptake of patients with severe chronic heart failure is influenced by anthropometric and demographic characteristics.  相似文献
