The in vitro release characteristics of indomethacin from different suppository formulations were investigated using a dialysis method. Suppositories containing 100 mg of indomethacin were prepared by the fusion method in a variety of Witepsol and Novata bases with different hydroxyl values. The rate of release of indomethacin was found to be unexpectedly higher from oily bases with low hydroxyl values.
Furthermore, the effect of surface active agents and some excipients commonly used in suppository formulations on the release properties of indomethacin was determined. Colloidal silicon dioxide, sodium lauryl sulphate and cetyl alcohol had a slight effect, on the release of indomethacin, whereas dioctyl sodium sulphosuccinate significantly increased the amount of indomethacin released. White beeswax and Tween-80, however, resulted in a marked decrease in the release of indomethacin.

The core of cognitive radio paradigm is to introduce cognitive devices able to opportunistically access the licensed radio bands. The coexistence of licensed and unlicensed users prescribes an effective spectrum hole‐detection and a non‐interfering sharing of those frequencies. Collaborative resource allocation and spectrum information exchange are required but often costly in terms of energy and delay. In this paper, each secondary user (SU) can achieve spectrum sensing and data transmission through a coalitional game‐based mechanism. SUs are called upon to report their sensing results to the elected coalition head, which properly decides on the channel state and the transmitter in each time slot according to a proposed algorithm. The goal of this paper is to provide a more holistic view on the spectrum and enhance the cognitive system performance through SUs behavior analysis. We formulate the problem as a coalitional game in partition form with non‐transferable utility, and we investigate on the impact of both coalition formation and the combining reports costs. We discuss the Nash Equilibrium solution for our coalitional game and propose a distributed strategic learning algorithm to illustrate a concrete case of coalition formation and the SUs competitive and cooperative behaviors inter‐coalitions and intra‐coalitions. We show through simulations that cognitive network performances, the energy consumption and transmission delay, improve evidently with the proposed scheme. Two types of micro‐tubular hollow fiber SOFCs (MT‐HF‐SOFCs) were prepared using phase inversion and sintering; electrolyte‐supported, based on highly asymmetric Ce0.9Gd0.1O1.95(CGO) HFs and anode‐supported based on co‐extruded NiO‐CGO(CGO)/CGO HFs. Electroless plating was used to deposit Ni onto the inner surfaces of the electrolyte‐supported MT‐HF‐SOFCs to form Ni‐CGO anodes. LSCF‐CGO cathodes were deposited on the outer surface of both these MT‐HF‐SOFCs before their electrochemical performances were compared at similar operating conditions. The performance of the anode‐supported MT‐HF‐SOFCs which delivered ca. 480 mW cm–2 at 600 °C was superior to the electrolyte‐supported MT‐HF‐SOFCs which delivered ca. six times lower power. The contribution of ohmic and electrode polarization losses of both FCs was investigated using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The electrolyte‐supported MT‐HF‐SOFCs had significantly higher ohmic and electrode polarization ASR values; this has been attributed to the thicker electrolyte and the difficulties associated with forming quality anodes inside the small (<1 mm) lumen of the electrolyte tubes. Further development on co‐extruded anode‐supported MT‐HF‐SOFCs led to the fabrication of a thinner electrolyte layer and improved electrode microstructures which delivered a world leading 2,400 mW cm–2. Y3Fe5O12 (YIG) prepared by conventional solid-state method can rarely be of high purity. However, this study suggests that high purity YIG can be produced via conventional solid-state methods, through stoichiometry modification. This is achieved by adding various amounts of excess Fe2O3 to control the YIG stoichiometric ratios. In this work, ferrite and yttria were calcined at 1100 °C (for 8 h) and sintered at 1420 °C (6 h). In most samples, the formation of YIG, with YFeO3 (YIP) and/or Fe2O3 as associated phases were detected. Uniform microstructures of YIG are also observed. YIP phase in YIG is found to be inversely related to the addition of excess Fe2O3, up to 8 wt%. At above 8 wt% Fe2O3 addition, YIP disappears, leaving unreacted excess Fe2O3 as a new associated phase. From the investigation, it is safe to conclude that the purity of YIG can be increased with the addition of excess Fe2O3. 相似文献

Mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) will play a vital role in civilian and military applications where users move around and share
information with each other. The movement of users varies depending on the environment, e.g. people may move randomly in different
directions (Random Waypoint and Gauss Markov mobility models); or walk, run and drive in two directions in the street (Manhattan
Mobility Model); or move as a group (Reference Point Group Mobility model). The interaction between mobility patterns and
routing protocols contributes significantly to vary the overall network performance. We build an analytical framework that
shows an analysis structure for the overall network performance test. In this framework, we first compare the properties of
the mobility models that are designated for MANETs. Second, we measure single path (proactive and reactive) and multipath
(proactive and reactive) routing protocols across the mobility models by tuning into TCP and CBR traffic individually. Finally,
we examine the performance of each routing protocol across mobility models and discuss the possibility of interaction between
them. Most of the previous findings only evaluate the impact of mobility models and single path routing protocols with CBR
traffic, whereas a significant finding of this study is that how the interaction between mobility models and single path and

Ventricular septal defect (VSD) is one of the most common types of congenital heart defects (CHD). There are vivid multifactorial causes for VSD in which both genetic and environmental risk factors are consequential in the development of CHD. Methionine synthase reductase (MTRR) and methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) are two of the key regulatory enzymes involved in the metabolic pathway of homocysteine. Genes involved in homocysteine/folate metabolism may play an important role in CHDs. In this study; we determined the association of A66G and C524T polymorphisms of the MTRR gene and C677T polymorphism of the MTHFR gene in Iranian VSD subjects. A total of 123 children with VSDs and 125 healthy children were included in this study. Genomic DNA was extracted from the buccal cells of all the subjects. The restriction fragment length polymorphism polymerase chain reaction (PCR-RFLP) method was carried out to amplify the A66G and C524T polymorphism of MTRR and C677T polymorphism of MTHFR genes digested with Hinf1, Xho1 and Nde1 enzymes, respectively. The genotype frequencies of CC, CT and TT of MTRR gene among the studied cases were 43.1%, 40.7% and 16.3%, respectively, compared to 52.8%, 43.2% and 4.0%, respectively among the controls. For the MTRR A66G gene polymorphism, the genotypes frequencies of AA, AG and GG among the cases were 33.3%, 43.9% and 22.8%, respectively, while the frequencies were 49.6%, 42.4% and 8.0%, respectively, among control subjects. The frequencies for CC and CT genotypes of the MTHFR gene were 51.2% and 48.8%, respectively, in VSD patients compared to 56.8% and 43.2% respectively, in control subjects. Apart from MTHFR C677T polymorphism, significant differences were noticed (p < 0.05) in C524T and A66G polymorphisms of the MTRR gene between cases and control subjects. 相似文献

Resource scheduling in Long Term Evolution (LTE) is an open and rising issue. It has an enormous impact on the entire system performance. Due to the nature of LTE system, the scheduler has to be designed carefully. It has to overcome many challenges such as limited processing time and the high dynamic behavior. This paper proposes a novel scheduling policy for the MAC layer in LTE called the Best Minimum Summation (BMS). The main aim of this scheduling policy is to achieve high performance with low complexity. Three sub-schedulers have been developed. Each one of these schedulers deals with scheduling table in different dimension. The first one operates on the scheduling table through the user dimension (BMS.UE); while the second one operates on the scheduling table through the resource block dimension (BMS.RB). The third scheduler operates on the scheduling table correlating both of these dimensions (BMS.2D). All of the proposed solutions were intensively evaluated in a system level simulator. Three performance metrics were used which are throughput, error rate and fairness. The results have shown that the ability of the BMS.UE scheduler to outperform other existing schedulers of LTE. 相似文献

Benefits valuation of potable water quality improvement in Malaysia: the case of Kajang Municipality
This article estimates the benefits of potable water quality improvements in Kajang Municipality in the state of Selangor, Malaysia, using the avertive cost method. Households were willing to pay MYR 322 annually to improve potable water quality. This represents about 80% of their average annual water bill. The present value of aggregate benefits over a period of 30 years at various social discount rates ranged from MYR 301 million to MYR 768 million. These estimates can be used as a reference for public investment criteria. The findings suggest that there is merit in an upward revision of water tariffs if they provide improvements in water quality. 相似文献

Over the last few years, vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) have gained popularity for their interesting applications. To make efficient routing decisions, VANET routing protocols require road traffic density information for which they use density estimation schemes. This paper presents a distributed mechanism for road vehicular density estimation that considers multiple road factors, such as road length and junctions. Extensive simulations are carried out to analyze the effectiveness of the proposed technique. Simulation results suggested that, the proposed technique is more accurate compared to the existing technique. Formulating passive energy design strategies require an understanding of the climatic influence on buildings and the thermal comfort of their occupants. This paper presents the bioclimatic approach in building design as well as the techniques which are applied to formulate various strategies in order to achieve indoor comfort conditions. The paper deals with the Bioclimatic Chart, the Building Psychrometric Chart, Mahoney Tables and the Control Potential Zones which utilise the thermal neutrality concept. Regional climatic data from the Klang Valley area in Malaysia were utilised in formulating the design strategies. The most appropriate design strategies for hot, humid regions were then deduced. The most preferred strategies found were the use of ventilation, dehumidification and shading. Consequently, a full recommendation for the integral use of these three passive methods are suggested to be used in all buildings in Malaysia. 相似文献
