Complete degradation of a pesticide mixture by a combination of a photo-Fenton pretreatment and an activated-sludge batch reactor is demonstrated. Four commercial pesticides, Laition, Metasystox, Sevnol and Ultracid were chosen for this experiment. The active ingredients are, respectively, dimethoate, oxydemeton-methyl, carbaryl and methidathion. The original pesticide concentration was 200 mg L−1. Biotreatment began after 31% photocatalytic mineralization, which after 5 h in a 6-L stirred batch-mode tank reactor with non-acclimated activated sludge, leaves the photo-Fenton effluent completely degraded. This biotreatment time is shorter than commonly found in municipal wastewater treatment plants (∼8-10 h). Therefore, the combined process is effective for rapid pesticide degradation in wastewater with complete removal of parent compounds and the associated DOC concentration. Nonetheless, assessment of this technology should take into account higher pesticide concentrations and how this factor affects both the photocatalytic and the biological oxidation.  相似文献

The technical feasibility and performance of photocatalytic degradation of six water-soluble pesticides (cymoxanil, methomyl, oxamyl, dimethoate, pyrimethanil and telone) have been studied at pilot-plant scale in two well-defined systems which are of special interest because natural solar UV light can be used: heterogeneous photocatalysis with titanium dioxide and homogeneous photocatalysis by photo-Fenton. TiO(2) photocatalysis tests were performed in a 35L solar pilot plant with three Compound Parabolic Collectors (CPCs) under natural illumination and a 75L solar pilot plant with four CPC units was used for homogeneous photocatalysis tests. The initial pesticide concentration studied was 50 mg L(-1) and the catalyst concentrations employed were 200 mg L(-1) of TiO(2) and 20 mg L(-1) of iron. Both toxicity (Vibrio fischeri, Biofix) and biodegradability (Zahn-Wellens test) of the initial pesticide solutions were also measured. Total disappearance of the parent compounds and nearly complete mineralization were attained with all pesticides tested. Treatment time, hydrogen peroxide consumption and release of heteroatoms are discussed.  相似文献

Bacterial growth on mixed substrates is employed for wastewater treatment. Biodegradation kinetics of Pseudomonas putida CECT 324 growth on formic acid, vanillin, phenol and oxalic acid mixtures is described. The experiments were carried out in a stirred-tank fermentor in batch mode at different temperatures (25, 30 and 35 degrees C) and pH (5, 6 and 7). The four compounds selected are typical intermediates in pesticide-contaminated water treated by advanced oxidation processes (AOPs). The toxicity of intermediates was investigated for a combined AOP-biological treatment, and the minimum DOC inhibitory concentration of the intermediate mixture was 175 ppm. The resulting biodegradation and growth kinetics were best described by the sum kinetics with interaction parameters (SKIP) model. Phenol and oxalic acid inhibit P. putida growth, and formic acid consumption strongly affects the biodegradation of oxalic acid. At all the temperatures tested and at pH between 5 and 7, P. putida CECT 324 was able to degrade the four substrates after culture times of 30 h at 30 degrees C and pH 7, which were the best conditions, and after 70 h, under the worst, at 35 degrees C.  相似文献

This paper reports on the combined solar photo-Fenton/biological treatment of an industrial effluent (initial total organic carbon, TOC, around 500mgL(-1)) containing a non-biodegradable organic substance (alpha-methylphenylglycine at 500mgL(-1)), focusing on pilot plant tests performed for design of an industrial plant, the design itself and the plant layout. Pilot plant tests have demonstrated that biodegradability enhancement is closely related to disappearance of the parent compound, for which a certain illumination time and hydrogen peroxide consumption are required, working at pH 2.8 and adding Fe(2+)=20mgL(-1). Based on pilot plant results, an industrial plant with 100m(2) of CPC collectors for a 250L/h treatment capacity has been designed. The solar system discharges the wastewater (WW) pre-treated by photo-Fenton into a biotreatment based on an immobilized biomass reactor. First, results of the industrial plant are also presented, demonstrating that it is able to treat up to 500Lh(-1) at an average solar ultraviolet radiation of 22.9Wm(-2), under the same conditions (pH, hydrogen peroxide consumption) tested in the pilot plant.  相似文献

Granular cold‐water‐soluble (GCWS) starches were prepared from banana starch treating it with 40 and 60% aqueous ethanol at two controlled temperatures (25 and 35 °C). GCWS starches prepared at 25 °C and with 40 and 60% aqueous ethanol had the lowest cold‐water solubility, that prepared with 40% aqueous ethanol at 35 °C and stored at room temperature showed low tendency to retrogradation, as assessed by transmittance. Solubility and swelling profiles were similar for GCWS starches and the freeze‐thaw stability of GCWS starches was increased as compared with native starch. The apparent viscosity of GCWS banana starches was higher than that of its native starch counterpart.  相似文献

Starches from various botanical sources, presenting different amylose-amylopectin levels, were solubilized with microwave heating and analyzed by high-performance size exclusion chromatography coupled online with multi-angle laser light scattering and refractive index detectors. The molar mass and gyration radius distributions were obtained. Analysis of the particle scattering factors (angular dependence of the scattered light) showed small differences in the internal structure of the samples solubilized during 35, 50 and 70 s. However, the slight differences in the internal structure of samples studied were revealed using Kratky plot. Structure degradation was found when heating of the sample in the microwave oven increased. Structural properties influence the functionality of starches in food products.  相似文献

The performance of a modern industrial plant can be severely affected by the performance of its key devices, such as valves. In particular, valve stiction can cause poor performance in control loops and can consequently lower the efficiency of the plant and the quality of the product. This paper presents an integrated FDD system for valve stiction which employs various FDD methods in a parallel configuration. A reliability index was integrated into each method in order to estimate their degree of influence in the final diagnosis of the system.
