Stainless steel is attractive as material for bipolar plates in proton exchange membrane fuel cells, due to its high electrical conductivity, high mechanical strength and relatively low material and processing cost. Potentiostatic and potentiodynamic tests were performed in H2SO4 solutions on AISI 316L stainless steel bipolar plates with etched flow fields. The effect of pH and presence of small amounts of fluoride and chloride on the corrosion rate and interfacial contact resistance of the stainless steel bipolar plate were investigated. The tests performed in electrolytes with various pH values revealed that the oxide layer was thinner and more prone to corrosion at pH values significantly lower than the pH one expects the bipolar plate to experience in an operating proton exchange membrane fuel cells. The use of solutions with very low pH in such measurements is thus probably not the best way of accelerating the corrosion rate of stainless steel bipolar plates. By use of strongly acidic solutions the composition and thickness of the oxide layer on the stainless steel is probably altered in a way that might never have happened in an operating proton exchange membrane fuel cell. Additions of fluoride and chloride in the amounts expected in an operating fuel cell (2 ppm F and 10 ppm Cl) did not cause significant changes for neither the polarization- nor the contact resistance measurements. However, by increasing the amount of Cl to 100 ppm, pitting was initiated on the stainless steel surface.  相似文献

We derive a spin-orbital model for manganites which includes the complete e g and t 2g superexchange of S=2 spins at Mn3+ ions and predicts that the same type of antiferromagnetic and orbital ordering is stabilized in insulating La3Mn2O7 as in LaMnO3 by a purely electronic mechanism dominated by the e g-superexchange. At finite doping we consider a model of t–J variety which describes a metal–insulator transition due to a competition between lattice polarons and kinetic energy in the metallic ferromagnetic ground state.  相似文献

The theory of social construction of technology (SCOT) and the theory of technological paradigms (TTP) are normally regarded as competing or even incompatible perspectives on technological change. In this paper, we show how and when the perspectives are complementary by comparing how the theories conceptualise technology development, understand stakeholders, and determine driving forces for technological change. When stakeholders have different relations to the innovation process, and when the outcome of the innovation process is open, we argue that the two theories could be complementary tools for analysing the process. When using SCOT and TTP as complementary analytical tools, it becomes easier to understand and design innovation processes in which different stakeholders are attached to roles where they are able to contribute in the most productive ways.  相似文献

A mathematical model has been developed to describe solute mixing in surcharged manholes using the submerged jet theory. The model has been applied for straight-through flow manholes and for manholes with a difference in the level of the inlet and outlet pipes. The model is applicable to dissolved substances, i.e. the model has not been validated for high sediment concentrations (above 1 g/l) and care should be taken in such cases. Simulation results from the new model are compared with laboratory measurements and are further compared to conventional modelling techniques currently available in commercial software specially developed for modelling the water quality in sewers. The results prove that the new model produces considerably better results compared to the traditional assumption of full mixing in a manhole. The new model compares well to the laboratory measurements and hence improves the accuracy of modelling soluble pollutant transport in sewers. The applicability of the new modelling approach is discussed and further studies are recommended.  相似文献

The prediction of formability is one of the most important tasks in sheet metal forming process simulation. The common criterion for ductile fracture in industrial applications is the Forming Limit Diagram (FLD). This is only applicable for linear strain paths. However, in most industrial simulation cases non-linear strain paths occur. To resolve this problem, a phenomenological approach is introduced, the so-called Generalized Forming Limit Concept (GFLC). The GFLC enables prediction of localized necking on arbitrary non-linear strain paths. Another possibility is the use of the Time Dependent Evaluation Method (TDEM) within the simulation as a failure criteria. During the Numisheet Benchmark 1 (2014) a two-stage forming process was performed with three typical sheet materials (AA5182, DP600 and TRIP 780) and three different blank shapes. The task was to determinate the point in time and space of local instability. Therefore the strain path for the point of maximum local thinning is evaluated. To predict the start of local necking the Generalized Forming Limit Concept (GFLC), the Time Dependent Evaluation Method (TDEM) and the modified TDEM were applied. The results of the simulation are compared with the results of the Benchmark experiment.  相似文献

We extend the infinite wind‐farm boundary‐layer (IWFBL) model of Frandsen to take into account atmospheric static stability effects. This extended model is compared with the IWFBL model of Emeis and to the Park wake model used in Wind Atlas Analysis and Application Program (WAsP), which is computed for an infinite wind farm. The models show similar behavior for the wind‐speed reduction when accounting for a number of surface roughness lengths, turbine to turbine separations and wind speeds under neutral conditions. For a wide range of atmospheric stability and surface roughness length values, the extended IWFBL model of Frandsen shows a much higher wind‐speed reduction dependency on atmospheric stability than on roughness length (roughness has been generally thought to have a major effect on the wind‐speed reduction). We further adjust the wake‐decay coefficient of the Park wake model for an infinite wind farm to match the wind‐speed reduction estimated by the extended IWFBL model of Frandsen for different roughness lengths, turbine to turbine separations and atmospheric stability conditions. It is found that the WAsP‐recommended values for the wake‐decay coefficient of the Park wake model are (i) larger than the adjusted values for a wide range of neutral to stable atmospheric stability conditions, a number of roughness lengths and turbine separations lower than ~ 10 rotor diameters and (ii) too large compared with those obtained by a semiempirical formulation (relating the ratio of the friction to the hub‐height free velocity) for all types of roughness and atmospheric stability conditions. © 2013 The Authors. Breeder cows, cattle recently arrived at feedlots, and cattle about to be shipped for slaughter were tested for Salmonella spp. No Salmonella spp. were detected in fecal samples from breeding cows. Nineteen of 1,000 (1.9%) fecal samples from recently arrived feedlot cattle were positive for Salmonella spp. compared to only 2 of 1,000 (0.2%) fecal samples taken within 2 weeks of slaughter. The positive fecal samples were collected in 5 of 50 (10%) "recent arrival" pens tested and in 1 of 50 (2%) pens tested within 2 weeks of slaughter. The serotypes isolated were Salmonella Agona, Salmonella Enteritidis, Salmonella Typhimurium DT104, and Salmonella 4,5,12:i:-. Ground beef samples purchased from retail outlets throughout Alberta were processed for Salmonella spp. Thirteen of 1,002 (1.3%) samples were positive for Salmonella spp. The serotypes isolated from ground beef were Salmonella Anatum, Salmonella Heidelberg, Salmonella Montevideo, Salmonella Typhimurium, Salmonella Typhimurium var. Copenhagen, and Salmonella Rough-O:i:1,2. The antibiotic resistance and pulsed-field electrophoresis gel macrorestriction patterns of all isolates were compared.  相似文献

Growth of the pathogens Yersinia enterocolitica, Listeria monocytogenes, Escherichia coli O157:H7 and strains of Salmonella were compared in ground beef packed in modified atmospheres of 60% CO2/40% N2/0.4% CO (high CO2/low CO mixture), 70% O2/30% CO2 (high O2 mixture) and in chub packs (stuffed in plastic casings). The ground beef was inoculated with rifampicin-resistant or nalidixic acid/streptomycin-resistant strains of the pathogens (final concentration 10(2) - 10(3) bacteria/g) and stored at 4 and 10 degrees C for up to 14 days. At 4 degrees C the shelf life, based on colour stability and background flora development, was prolonged for the high CO2/low CO mixture compared to the two other packaging methods, but at 10 degrees C the shelf life was < 8 days for all the packaging methods. Growth of Y. enterocolitica was nearly totally inhibited both at 4 and 10 degrees C in the high CO2/low CO mixture, while the bacterial numbers in the samples packed in the high O2 mixture increased from about 5 x 10(2) bacteria/g at day 0 to about 10(4) at day 5 at 4 degrees C and to 10(5) at 10 degrees C. Growth in the chub packs was even higher. L. monocytogenes showed very little growth at 4 degrees C in all treatments. At 10 degrees C there was slow growth from about 5 x 10(3) bacteria/g to about 10(4) at day 5 in the high CO2/low CO mixture, while the numbers in the high O2 mixture and the chub packs were about 10 times higher. Growth of E. coli O157:H7 at 10 degrees C in the ground beef was nearly totally inhibited in both the high CO2/low CO mixture and the high O2 mixture. Growth in the chub packs was higher, as the number of bacteria increased 3 log in 5 days. The Salmonella strains (S. typhimurium, S. dublin, S. enteritidis and S. enterica 61:k:1,5,(7)) in the ground beef stored at 10 degrees C for 5 and 7 days grew to a higher number in the high CO2/low CO mixture than in the high O2 mixture. This study shows that the growth of Y. enterocolitica and L. mononcytogenes in ground beef stored in the high CO2 /low CO mixture was not increased as a result of prolonging the shelf life. However, the observed growth of strains of Salmonella at 10 degrees C in this mixture and in chub packs does emphasise the importance of temperature control during storage.  相似文献

We investigate the consequences of an incommensurate magnetic order in doped La2–x Sr x CuO4 using dynamical mean-field theory for the effective single-band model. The high-energy optical transitions are due to high-energy excitations across large Mott–Hubbard gap, while low-energy excitations involve a pseudogap induced by the local spin order. The latter lead to a strong drop in the scattering rate at low , in qualitative agreement with the experimental data.  相似文献
