This paper is focused on the quantitative characterization of cavitation developing in unfilled and nano‐CaCO3 filled high density polyethylene (HDPE) subjected to tensile test. In particular, a methodology to reveal the voids, take into account their localization, and evaluate their characteristics (density and shape), is presented. For this, post‐mortem investigations coupling a cryosectioning method and a pressure‐controlled scanning electron microscope (PC‐SEM) were conducted. In the two materials, whatever the active cavitation mechanism (crazing in neat HDPE or debonding in CaCO3/HDPE system), it was shown that the cavity density and the cavity height/width ratio (shape factor) increase with the deformation state. These two parameters are also influenced by the macroscopic stress triaxiality generated by the necking process. Indeed, when the intensity of the triaxiality is high, the cavity density and the cavity shape factor significantly increase from the skin to the core of the specimen. POLYM. ENG. A homology model of the human GABA transporter (GAT‐1) based on the recently reported crystal structures of the bacterial leucine transporter from Aquifex aeolicus (LeuT) was developed. The stability of the resulting model embedded in a membrane environment was analyzed by extensive molecular dynamics (MD) simulations. Based on docking studies and subsequent MD simulations of three compounds, the endogenous ligand GABA and two potent inhibitors, (R)‐nipecotic acid and the anti‐epilepsy drug tiagabine, various binding modes were identified and are discussed. Whereas GABA and (R)‐nipecotic acid, which are both substrates, are stabilised with residues located deep inside the occluded state binding pocket (including residues Tyr 60 and Ser 396), tiagabine, which contains a large aliphatic side chain, is stabilised in a binding mode that extends from the substrate binding pocket (i.e., stabilised by Phe 294) to the extracellular vestibule, where the side chain is stabilised by aliphatic residues. The tiagabine binding mode, reaching from the substrate binding site to the extracellular vestibule, forces the side chain of Phe 294 to adopt a distinct conformation from that found in the occluded conformation of the transporter. Hence, in presence of tiagabine, GAT‐1 is constrained in an open‐to‐out conformation. Our results may be of particular interest for the design of new GAT‐1 inhibitors.  相似文献

Novel flexible polyurethane foams were successfully prepared from a renewable source, hydroxytelechelic natural rubber (HTNR) having different molecular weights (1000–3400 g mol?1) and variation of epoxide contents (EHTNR, 0–35% epoxidation) by a one‐shot technique. The chemical and cell structures as well as physico‐mechanical, thermal, and acoustic properties were characterized and compared with commercial polyol analogs. The obtained HTNR based foams are open cell structures with cell dimensions between 0.38 and 0.47 mm. The HTNR1000 based foam exhibits better mechanical properties but lower elongation at break than those of commercial polyol analog. However, the HTNR3400 based foam shows the best elastic properties. In a series of EHTNR based foams, the tensile and compressive strengths show a tendency to increase with increasing epoxide content and amount of 1,4‐butanediol (BD). The HTNR based foams demonstrate better low temperature flexibility than that of the foam based on commercial polyol. Moreover, the HTNR based polyurethane foams was found to be an excellent absorber of acoustics. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci, 2010  相似文献

The effect of topcoat properties on the tendency of painted materials to blistering was studied. Six topcoats were applied on identical panels of hot-dip galvanized steel painted with a polyester primer. The tendency to blistering was assessed under the conditions of permanent condensation in a Q-panel condensation test at 60 °C. Internal tensile stress and stress development in organic coatings during temperature and relative humidity cycling were investigated by the cantilever curvature method. Although blisters originated from the metal/polymer interface, the extent of blistering was strongly influenced by the topcoat. Available data suggest that it may increase with the coating thickness, glass transition temperature (Tg) and thermal expansion properties. Connection was found between the internal tensile stress formed in topcoats during the paint film preparation and the extent of blistering. A hypothesis that stress-assisted interfacial bond hydrolysis was responsible for blister initiation is proposed. Other experiments suggested that local paint buckling over non-adherent sites can be caused by plastic deformation of the paint due to relief of compressive stress generated at elevated temperature or by ingress of water.  相似文献

Most advanced high-strength steel products contain complex phases, including ferrite, bainite and martensite, which form successively during elaboration. It is essential to understand the effect of prior ferrite transformation on the subsequent bainite and martensite transformation kinetics to achieve precise control of the final microstructure. Nevertheless, the effect of the interface between the prior formed ferrite and the residual austenite (α/γ), together with the related chemical heterogeneity at the interface, on the subsequent phase transformations has been studied only rarely, and remains unclear. This study pays particular attention to the effect of the α/γ interface and its related concentration gradients on bainite and martensite transformation. It is shown that the interface and its related concentration gradients can play a very significant role on the subsequent bainite or martensite transformation kinetics: it retards bainite transformation whereas it accelerates martensite transformation. It is revealed from microprobe wavelength-dispersive spectrometry analysis and model calculations that there are both manganese and carbon gradients in front of the α/γ interface at the end of the ferrite transformation holding. The subsequent bainite transformation kinetics is controlled by the competition between the acceleration effect of the interface boundary itself and the retardation effect of the higher alloying concentration near the interface. Martensite transformation should initiate at the pre-existing dislocations in the center of the residual austenite grains, where the C and Mn contents are the lowest. A simple martensite transformation kinetics model taking into account C heterogeneity is proposed that can describe well the martensite transformation kinetics following the prior ferrite transformation.  相似文献

Natural mineral water (NMWs) intake has been traditionally used in the treatment of various gastrointestinal diseases. We investigated the effect of two French NMWs, one a calcium and magnesium sulphate, sodium chloride, carbonic, and ferruginous water (NMW1), the other a mainly bicarbonate water (NMW2) on the prevention of intestinal inflammation. Intestinal epithelial cells stimulated with heat inactivated Escherichia coli or H2O2 were treated with NMWs to evaluate the anti-inflammatory effects. Moderate colitis was induced by 1% dextran sulfate sodium (DSS) in Balbc/J mice drinking NMW1, NWW2, or control water. General signs and histological features of colitis, fecal lipocalin-2 and pro-inflammatory KC cytokine levels, global mucosa-associated microbiota, were analyzed. We demonstrated that both NMW1 and NMW2 exhibited anti-inflammatory effects using intestinal cells. In induced-colitis mice, NMW1 was effective in dampening intestinal inflammation, with significant reductions in disease activity scores, fecal lipocalin-2 levels, pro-inflammatory KC cytokine release, and intestinal epithelial lesion sizes. Moreover, NMW1 was sufficient to prevent alterations in the mucosa-associated microbiota. These observations, through mechanisms involving modulation of the mucosa-associated microbiota, emphasize the need of investigation of the potential clinical efficiency of such NMWs to contribute, in human beings, to a state of low inflammation in inflammatory bowel disease.  相似文献

Submicron Ti2AlC MAX phase powder was synthesized by molten salt shielded synthesis (MS3) using a Ti:Al:C molar ratio of 2:1:0.9 at a process temperature of 1000°C for 5  hours. The synthesized powder presented a mean particle size of ~0.9 µm and a purity of 91 wt. % Ti2AlC, containing 6 wt. % Ti3AlC2. The Ti2AlC powder was sintered by pressureless sintering, achieving a maximal relative density of 90%, hence field-assisted sintering technology/spark plasma sintering was used to enhance densification. The fine-grained microstructure was preserved, and phase purity of Ti2AlC was unaltered in the latter case, with a relative density of 98.5%. Oxidation was performed at 1200°C for 50 hours in static air of dense monolithic Ti2AlC with different surface finish, (polished, ground and sandblasted) which resulted in the formation of an approx. 8 µm thin aluminum oxide (Al2O3) layer decorated with titanium dioxide (rutile, TiO2) colonies. Surface quality had no influence on Al2O3 scale thickness, but the amount and size of TiO2 crystals increased with surface roughness. A phenomenon of rumpling of the thermally grown oxide (TGO) was observed and a model to estimate the extent of deformation is proposed.  相似文献

Ce0.8Gd0.2O2−δ-FeCo2O4 composites are attractive candidate materials for high-purity oxygen generation providing robust chemical stability. Aiming for future industrial applications, a feasible solid-state reaction process with one thermal processing step was used to synthesize 50 wt% Ce0.8Gd0.2O2−δ:50 wt% FeCo2O4 and 85 wt% Ce0.8Gd0.2O2−δ:15 wt% FeCo2O4 composites. Mechanical reliabilities of the sintered membranes were assessed based on the characterized mechanical properties and subcritical crack growth behavior. In general, the fracture strengths of as-sintered membranes were reduced by tensile residual stresses and microcracks. In particular, the enhanced subcritical crack growth behavior, which leads to limited stress tolerance and high failure probability after a 10-year operation, was evaluated in more detail. Further materials and processing improvements are needed to eliminate the tensile stress and microcracks to warrant a long-term reliable operation of the composites.  相似文献

Neuropilin-1 (NRP-1), the major co-receptor of vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-2 (VEGFR-2), may also independently act with VEGF-A165 to stimulate tumour growth and metastasis. Therefore, there is great interest in compounds that can block VEGF-A165/NRP-1 interaction. Peptidomimetic type inhibitors represent a promising strategy in the treatment of NRP-1-related disorders. Here, we present the synthesis, affinity, enzymatic stability, molecular modeling and in vitro binding evaluation of the branched urea–peptide hybrids, based on our previously reported Lys(hArg)-Dab-Oic-Arg active sequence, where the Lys(hArg) branching has been modified by introducing urea units to replace the peptide bond at various positions. One of the resulting hybrids increased the affinity of the compound for NRP-1 more than 10-fold, while simultaneously improving resistance for proteolytic stability in serum. In addition, ligand binding to NRP-1 induced rapid protein stock exocytotic trafficking to the plasma membrane in breast cancer cells. Examined properties characterize this compound as a good candidate for further development of VEGF165/NRP-1 inhibitors.  相似文献

Sintering of ceramic films on a solid substrate is an important technology for fabricating a range of products, including solid oxide fuel cells, micro-electronic PZT films and protective coatings. There is clear evidence that the constrained sintering process is anisotropic in nature. This paper presents a study of the constrained sintering deformation using an anisotropic constitutive law. The state of the material is described using the sintering strains rather than the relative density. In the limiting case of free sintering, the constitutive law reduces to a conventional isotropic constitutive law. The anisotropic constitutive law is used to calculate sintering deformation of a constrained film bonded to a rigid substrate and the compressive stress required in a sinter-forging experiment to achieve zero lateral shrinkage. The results are compared with experimental data in the literature. It is shown that the anisotropic constitutive law can capture the behaviour of the materials observed in the sintering experiments.  相似文献
