Incorporation of defects in metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) offers new opportunities for manipulating their microporosity and functionalities. The so-called “defect engineering” has great potential to tailor the mass transport properties in MOF/polymer mixed matrix membranes (MMMs) for challenging separation applications, for example, CO2 capture. This study first investigates the impact of MOF defects on the membrane properties of the resultant MOF/polymer MMMs for CO2 separation. Highly porous defect-engineered UiO-66 nanoparticles are successfully synthesized and incorporated into a CO2-philic crosslinked poly(ethylene glycol) diacrylate (PEGDA) matrix. A thorough joint experimental/simulation characterization reveals that defect-engineered UiO-66/PEGDA MMMs exhibit nearly identical filler–matrix interfacial properties regardless of the defect concentrations of their parental UiO-66 filler. In addition, non-equilibrium molecular dynamics simulations in tandem with gas transport studies disclose that the defects in MOFs provide the MMMs with ultrafast transport pathways mainly governed by diffusivity selectivity. Ultimately, MMMs containing the most defective UiO-66 show the most enhanced CO2/N2 separation performance—CO2 permeability = 470 Barrer (four times higher than pure PEGDA) and maintains CO2/N2 selectivity = 41—which overcomes the trade-off limitation in pure polymers. The aim of this study was to measure the translucency of one indirect and direct resin composite after polymerization and to examine the effect of color parameters on this property. Tescera and Filtek Ultimate, each containing three shade groups (Enamel, Dentin and Body for Filtek Ultimate; and Incisal, Opaceous Dentin and Body for Tescera), were investigated. The translucency parameter (TP) was measured as the color difference between a specimen over a white and black background. Significant differences were observed in TP values between shade groups. Tukey’s multiple comparison test revealed TP values among the groups of Filtek Ultimate-Enamel > Tescera-Incisal > Filtek Ultimate-Body > Tescera-Body = Filtek Ultimate-Dentin > Tescera-Opaceous Dentin. In conclusion, it is concluded that the translucency of resin composite was affected by polymerization and color parameters. 相似文献

A numerical transient model was designed to describe the dynamics of the annealing process prior to coating in a hot dip galvanising (HDG) line. The model was integrated into a model predictive controller developed in a previous work, including an adaptation mechanism to retain the model accuracy in operation. Complex transient production was studied to formulate proper constraints as input for the optimisation problem to be solved in real time. Simulations and online tests were carried out to verify the transient model and the controller design principles. The new controller has been implemented on a HDG line which annually produces 400 000 t of coated strip products mainly for the automotive and construction markets. Production using this controller proves its ability to correctly predict the future operation and optimise the control automation of the heating, the cooling and the line speed. Detailed data analysis shows significant improvements in terms of strip transition control precision, temperature control accuracy (50% increase inside tolerances), throughput maximisation (3–8% increase) and production consistency through the full automation. 相似文献

The beneficial role of dietary fibre in human nutrition and effects of properties on fermented dairy products have led to a growing demand for the incorporation of novel fibre‐based fat replacers. The aim of the present work was to investigate the possibility of using inulin and oat‐based β‐glucan in Labneh cheese and to analyse the physico‐chemical, textural and sensory properties of the resulting product. The results showed that the textural and sensory properties of the cheese with addition of inulin increased at a 12% fat ratio. Overall, full‐fat and reduced‐fat Labneh cheeses were firmer and had better flavour than all the low‐fat cheeses. However, inulin and oat β‐glucan, as fermentable fibres, were also degraded as fermentable fibres to produce organic acids and had the potential for use as fat replacers in low‐fat dairy systems. 相似文献

To improve mechanical properties of S2355JR carbon steel, pre-synthesized ZrB2 nanocrystals were used to coat the metal surface by laser cladding using 2000 W CO2 laser. ZrB2 nanocrystals were synthesized by mechanochemical process. The effect of laser power on the coating layers was examined for optimizing the most effective coating conditions. Microstructural studies were carried out using optical microscope, scanning electron microscope and X-ray diffraction to analyze phase structures of the coated layers. Mechanical characteristics of the laser coated layers were evaluated by studying microhardness, wear and scratch resistance properties. Maximum hardness of the coated layers was observed while cladding with 75 and 125 W laser powers, when other processing parameters and conditions were kept at optimum levels. EDS analysis of these laser cladded layers indicated the formation of complex boro-nitrides, nitrides and carbides of Zr and Fe that contributed to vast increase in hardness of the laser-clad coating on S2355JR steel. Depending upon the laser powers used, the thickness of the coated layers was found to be in the range of 15–37 µm. The wear and micro-scratch tests results revealed significant improvement in wear properties. 相似文献

The transport of anthropogenic pollution by desert dust in the Eastern Mediterranean region was studied by analyzing major and trace element composition, organic species, and Pb isotope ratios in suspended dust samples collected in Jerusalem, Israel. Dust storms in this region are associated with four distinct synoptic conditions (Red Sea Trough (RS), Eastern High (EH), Sharav Cyclone (SC), and Cold Depression (Cyprus low, CD)) that carry dust mostly from North African (SC, CD, EH) and Arabian and Syrian (RS, EH) deserts. Substantial contamination of dust particles by Pb, Cu, Zn, and Ni is observed, while other elements (Na, Ca, Mg, Mn, Sr, Rb, REE, U, and Th) display natural concentrations. Sequential extraction of the abovementioned elements from the dust samples shows that the carbonate and sorbed fractions contain most of the pollution, yet the Al-silicate fraction is also contaminated, implying that soils and sediments in the source terrains of the dust are already polluted. We identified the pollutant sources by using Pb isotopes. It appears that before the beginning of the dust storm, the pollutants in the collected samples are dominated by local sources but with the arrival of dust from North Africa, the proportion of foreign pollutants increases. Organic pollutants exhibit behavior similar and complementary to that of the inorganic tracers, attesting to the importance of anthropogenic-pollutant addition en route of the dust from its remote sources. Pollution of suspended dust is observed under all synoptic conditions, yet it appears that easterly winds carry higher proportions of local pollution and westerly winds carry pollution emitted in the Cairo basin. Therefore, pollution transport by mineral dust should be accounted for in environmental models and in assessing the health-related effects of mineral dust. 相似文献

We theoretically and experimentally illustrate a new apertured near-field scanning optical microscopy (NSOM) technique, termed differential NSOM (DNSOM). It involves scanning a relatively large (e.g., 0.3-2 mum wide) rectangular aperture (or a detector) in the near-field of an object and recording detected power as a function of the scanning position. The image reconstruction is achieved by taking a two-dimensional derivative of the recorded power map. Unlike conventional apertured NSOM, the size of the rectangular aperture/detector does not determine the resolution in DNSOM; instead, the resolution is practically determined by the sharpness of the corners of the rectangular aperture/detector. We present a simple processing technique that uses the concept of minimum-phase functions to improve frequency-domain optical coherence tomography systems. Our approach removes the autocorrelation noise and therefore increases both the accessible depth range and the recovery accuracy. We demonstrate subpixel level color imaging capability on a lensfree incoherent on-chip microscopy platform. By using a nanostructured substrate, the incoherent emission from the object plane is modulated to create a unique far-field diffraction pattern corresponding to each point at the object plane. These lensfree diffraction patterns are then sampled in the far-field using a color sensor-array, where the pixels have three different types of color filters at red, green, and blue (RGB) wavelengths. The recorded RGB diffraction patterns (for each point on the structured substrate) form a basis that can be used to rapidly reconstruct any arbitrary multicolor incoherent object distribution at subpixel resolution, using a compressive sampling algorithm. This lensfree computational imaging platform could be quite useful to create a compact fluorescent on-chip microscope that has color imaging capability. 相似文献

This paper presents a beam search-based method for the stochastic assembly line balancing problem in U-lines. The proposed method minimizes total expected cost comprised of total labour cost and total expected incompletion cost. A beam search is an approximate branch and bound method that operates on a search tree. Even though beam search has been used in various problem domains, this is the first application to the assembly line balancing problem. The performance of the proposed method is measured on various test problems. The results of the computational experiments indicate that the average performance of the proposed method is better than the best-known heuristic in the literature for the traditional straight-line problem. Since the proposed method is the first heuristic for the stochastic U-type problem with the total expected cost criterion, we only report its results on the benchmark problems. Future research directions and the related bibliography are also provided in the paper. 相似文献
