Bacillus stearothermophilus BR388 was isolated from orange peel by an enrichment culture using (+)-limonene. The thermophilic isolate exhibited growth between 45 and 68°C., with optimum growth near 55°C. BR388 could grow on limonene as a sole carbon source, but grew and degraded limonene more effectively when supplemented with small amounts of yeast extract. Perillyl alcohol was the major conversion product, with α-terpineol and perillyl aldehyde as minor products. Strains of B. stearothermophilus previously isolated from aromatic enrichments also grew on limonene, but had higher sensitivity to limonene toxicity than did BR388. 相似文献

The texture stability of hydrogel complexes containing curdlan gum over multiple freeze–thaw cycles (FTCs) was investigated. The hydrogels formed by curdlan and xanthan gum, locust bean gum, carrageenan or guar gum at various combinations were stored at 4C for 24 h before subjected to five FTCs alternating between − 16 (18 h) and 25C (6 h). Xanthan/curdlan hydrogels showed the highest freeze–thaw stability in terms of syneresis, heat stability and adhesiveness. The viscosity of xanthan/curdlan combination was the lowest among all samples studied yet the most stable over the five FTCs, whereas significant changes were observed with locust bean/curdlan hydrogels. The guar/curdlan combination before freeze–thaw treatments exhibited predominant elasticity; however, as the cycles progressed the elasticity decreased. The most stable gel strength was achieved when curdlan was combined with guar or xanthan at 2% (w/v) total concentration, while carrageenan/curdlan gels were the least stable.

Loss of moisture and changes in textural attributes often results in significant reduction of product quality. Abstract Recently, several authors (Searle, Penrose, Rychlak) have suggested that AI is a doomed undertaking. In his recent book, Artificial Intelligence and Human Reasoning, Joseph Rychlak repeats many of the arguments of the other critics, as well as offering several of his own. ABSTRACT The basic principles of brushless doubly-fed machine (BDFM) synchronous operation are used to establish the essential components of the rotor configuration and alternative types of construction are examined. Certain forms, which appear to be physically realizable only with wound or fabricated rotors, are dismissed in favor of others which may be fabricated or die-cast in a manner similar to the cage rotors of conventional induction machines. A detailed simulation model is used to predict the performance of a proof-of-concept laboratory machine in a motoring mode which has been correlated with test data. Various developments and options of the rotor configuration are then examined for relative performance at two different speeds using the modeling techniques. The thermal decomposition of oxalates of ammonium and potassium was studied by simultaneous TGA, DTA, and EGA (effluent gas analysis). Of the simple oxalates, the potassium compound is more stable than the lithium compound, as has been observed for the corresponding carbonates and sulfates. Ammonium oxalate is much less stable than either of the alkali metal oxalates. The theory behind fluorescent X-ray spectroscopy is briefly reviewed. X-ray spectrometers are designed for the rapid qualitative and quantitative analysis of elements having an atomic number greater than 22 (titanium). This technique has been used to determine quantitatively the nickel plated out in nickel pickling and the amounts of cobalt and nickel deposited on the base metal during the firing of enamel ground coats. The method has been used to determine the lead content of a glaze frit. The X-ray spectrometer can be used satisfactorily for the analysis of specific elements, above titanium in atomic number, in virtually any raw material. For example, iron in pyrophyllite and niobium in titania have been determined quantitatively. The advantages and disadvantages of this technique are discussed. 相似文献
