Twenty-three honey samples from Galicia (Northwest Spain) were analysed to determine their botanical origin, phenolic compounds and antibacterial activity. In all samples Rubus pollen was predominant, followed by that of Castanea sativa. Other important pollens found belong to Cytisus type, Trifolium repens, Echium, Eucalyptus globulus, Erica umbellata, Erica cinerea, Campanula type and Frangula alnus.Eight phenolic compounds (caffeic, p-coumaric and ellagic acids, pinocembrin, chrysin, galangin, tectochrysin and kaempferol) were determined by solid-phase extraction (SPE) followed by HPLC/DAD analysis. p-Coumaric and ellagic acids were the main constituents of the phenolic fraction (ca. 5.5 mg/kg each, mean value), followed by the pair chrysin plus galangin (ca. 1.2 mg/kg, mean value) and pinocembrin (ca. 1.0 mg/kg, mean value). Antibacterial activity was checked against five Gram-positive bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Micrococcus luteus, Enterococcus faecalis and Bacillus cereus) and four Gram-negative bacteria (Proteus mirabilis, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Salmonella typhimurium). B. cereus and P. mirabilis were the most sensitive microorganisms. This is the first study concerning the phenolic compounds and antibacterial activity of Rubus honey, which proved to be a good source of phenolic compounds and antimicrobial agents with potential health benefits. 相似文献

This study aimed to characterize Salmonella Enteritidis (SE) isolated from blood (n = 12) and feces (n = 68) of salmonellosis victims in Southern Brazil. All isolates were submitted to antimicrobial susceptibility testing, PCR-ribotyping, and XbaI macrorestriction Pulsed-Field Gel Eletrophoresis (PFGE). Results demonstrated high levels of ampicillin and nalidixic acid resistance, and strains isolated in different geographic regions were clustered together, presenting a common resistance profile. All strains demonstrated similar and related PCR-ribotyping patterns (R1, R2, and R3); being that the predominant profile R1 grouped 47.5% of the strains. PFGE profile P1 grouped the majority of the strains (96.25%), suggesting a clonal relationship among the strains or inability of molecular typing methods to discriminate strains of this serovar. Results suggested on an increase in antimicrobial resistance and that strains of S. Enteritidis with similar PFGE and PCR-ribotyping profiles were involved in several salmonellosis outbreaks in Southern Brazil. 相似文献

HPLC-DAD-ESI/MSn was used to ascertain the authenticity of two certified and two commercial Bauhinia forficata Link samples. Different flavonoids profiles were obtained, involving 39 compounds. Just kaempferol-3-O-(2-rhamnosyl)rutinoside was found in all analysed samples. Five compounds were common to the certified samples of B. forficata Link and B. forficata Link subsp. pruinosa (Vogel) Fortunato & Wunderlin, being kaempferol derivatives the most representative ones. The phenolic composition of B. forficata Link subsp. pruinosa (Vogel) Fortunato & Wunderlin is described herein for the first time, accounting for eight compounds, while 10 new compounds were identified in B. forficata Link. Commercial B. forficata Link showed higher contents of quercetin derivatives, in addition to the presence of myricetin derivatives and flavonoids-(galloyl)glycosides, for which the MS fragmentation pattern is reported for the first time. B. forficata Link and the two commercial samples were able to inhibit α-glucosidase, with EC50 values lower than that found for acarbose. Mild effects on cholinesterases were observed with the certified samples, while commercial ones were more effective. The same behaviour was observed concerning the scavenging of DPPH, nitric oxide and superoxide radicals. The presence of high contents of quercetin derivatives in commercial samples seems to directly influence their biological properties. The differences between phenolic profiles and their relation with the authenticity of commercial samples are discussed. 相似文献

Listeria monocytogenes is an opportunistic psychrotroph foodborne pathogen that has been used as a model organism to study the efficacy of many different preservation methods. This work aimed to test the antilisterial activity of lactic acid bacteria isolated from Italian salami and study the development of resistance. Isolates were obtained from naturally fermented Italian salami and cultures that retained activity in the supernatants after pH neutralization and catalase treatment were further characterized. The isolate showing highest inhibitory activity (PD 6.9) was tested for sensibility to proteases, heat and pH. To evaluate if resistance developed, sensitive strains were transferred with sub-lethal doses of the partially purified inhibitory substance and then inoculated into media containing higher doses of the extract. Isolate PD 6.9 inhibited several L. monocytogenes strains obtained from different origins and retained its activity over a wide range of pH and temperature. When increasing concentrations (10-100 AU ml(-1)) of the partially purified inhibitory substance were added to culture media, growth of L. monocytogenes did not occur even after 12 h of incubation. Cultures of Listeria that were transferred with sub-lethal doses (10 AU ml(-1)) of the partially purified inhibitory substance could resist higher doses of the extract (50 AU ml(-1)), but were inhibited when the concentration was further increased (100 AU ml(-1)). The objective of this study was to evaluate culture media and methodologies for isolation and detection of lactic acid bacteria (LAB) capable to produce bacteriocin-like substances. Samples of milk and cheese were pour plated on de Mann-Rogosa-Sharpe agar (MRS) and Kang-Fung-Sol agar (KFS) (both at 35 °C/48 h, under anaerobiosis), from which 389 and 256 LAB cultures were selected. The antagonistic activity of them was evaluated using the spot-on-the-lawn and two culture media: brain-heart infusion agar with catalase (BHI + C) and M17 (both at 35 °C/24 h). The proteinaceous nature of the antagonistic cultures was verified using: spot-on-the-lawn (MRS, 25 °C/24 h, under anaerobiosis) and well-diffusion (cultures amplified on modified MRS broth at 25 °C/24 h, and then neutralized using NaOH). Listeria monocytogenes ATCC 7644 was used as indicator. A larger number of antagonist cultures were isolated from MRS (83 by M17 and 65 by BHI + C) in comparison to KFS (24 by M17 and 15 by BHI + C). The spot-on-the-lawn identified a higher frequency of LAB capable of producing bacteriocin-like substances. MRS was considered to be the best culture media for the isolation of LAB capable to produce bacteriocin-like substances, activity that was better identified using the spot-on-the-lawn methodology. 相似文献

This paper presents a study accomplished in the State of Parana in Southern Brazil, aiming at verifying the correlation between organizational human factors (OHF) and the level of energy losses in organizations. The purpose is to subsidize the formularization of institutional policies in organizations to improve the energy efficiency in the productive sector. The research was carried out in ten industries of the following sectors: pulp and paper; food; wood and chemical products. The losses of electric energy were determined in motor systems with the aid of a mathematical model and the evaluation of 27 OHF identified in the literature review was made with the supervisors in the industries by means of a structurized questionnaire. Seven OHF had presented significant correlation with energy losses and six of them are inversely proportional to the losses, in accordance with linear regression analysis. The inversely proportional factors to the losses also with significant correlation are considered determinative OHF and constitute barriers for energy efficiency in organizations. These barriers are linked with the following organizational areas: management system; education of employees; strategical vision. The study recommends the implementation of the determinative OHF in organizations as a way to transpose the human barriers for energy efficiency. 相似文献

The electronic properties of the Mg2NiH4 monoclinic phase are calculated using a density functional approach calculation. The crystalline parameters and interatomic distances calculated are close to the experimental values within a 3% error. We also evaluate the density of states (DOS) and character of the chemical bonding for the hydrogen's located in their equilibrium positions. While the Ni–Mg interaction is dominant in the pure alloy, in the hydride the hydrogen atoms present a bonding much more developed with Ni than with Mg. The principal bonding interaction is Ni sp–H s. Moreover, a small bonding between Ni deg and H 1s is observed. Up the Fermi level, the Ni–H interaction is slightly antibonding. The Mg–Ni bonding interactions are weaker in the hydride phase when compared with the pure Mg2Ni alloy. The present study is potentially useful because the alloys Mg–Ni are good materials for hydrogen storage. 相似文献

Comparison between the resistance to BAC and the microscopic structure between mixed-species biofilms formed by different strains of Listeria monocytogenes and Pseudomonas putida CECT 845 under different scenarios and that obtained by the corresponding monospecies L. monocytogenes biofilm was carried out. The association of P. putida with L. monocytogenes quickens biofilm formation and increases significantly (p < 0.05) the BAC-resistance of the biofilm after 4 days of incubation at 25 °C respecting to that formed by monospecies biofilms. According with the adherence profiles of P. putida, two different patterns of association between both species (A and B) were identified, being type A pattern found in the mixed biofilms much more resistant to BAC. After 11 days of incubation, a destructuration of mixed biofilms occurred in all experimental assays, being in 2 out of 5 experimental cases (4032 and BAC-adapted 5873 on polypropylene) accompanied by a sharp decrease in the number of adhered cells. Microscopic analyses demonstrated that complex three-dimensional microscopic structure showed the highest resistance to BAC (4032-SS). Obtained results clearly highlight that to improve disinfection protocols for assuring food safety, it is necessary to mimick those bacterial association that occur in nature. 相似文献

This work presents a study about the efficiency of destruction of industrial waste, used in the co-incineration in rotary kilns of the cement industry, considering the principle of the chemistry equilibrium and the kinetic of the reactions. As an example, it has analysed the burn of one hazardous waste which has in its composition toluene, xylene and dicloroethane. The temperatures of the transformation and the time of the reaction to the formation of sub-products which will originate CO2, H2O and HCl, are evaluated. Few investigators studying alcohol abuse among individuals with a severe mental illness (SMI) have examined predictors of posttreatment alcohol outcomes. In the present study, a multivariate approach based on a theoretical model was used to study the relationship between psychosocial factors and post-treatment-initiation alcohol use. Predictors of alcohol use outcomes were examined in 278 individuals diagnosed with a current schizophrenia-spectrum or bipolar disorder and an alcohol use disorder (AUD). At 6-months follow-up, 144 of 228 available participants (63%) had good clinical outcomes.
