Suburbanization is one of the most important processes changing the nature of metropolitan regions in Europe’s post-socialist countries. This paper evaluates the importance of social contacts of new suburbanites on local level social cohesion and development. The paper employs examples from empirical research into new suburban communities in the Prague metropolitan region of the Czech Republic. Our results show that both internal and external social ties are developing in such newly built areas, which is important for the well-being of both the neighborhood and the municipality. Internal ties foster the social cohesion of a neighborhood, while external ties encourage development of the whole municipality (e.g., via political participation or informal contacts).  相似文献

Aufgrund vieler Untersuchungen zur Standsicherheit von Eissporthallen wurde festgestellt, dass diese in unterschiedlichem Maße saniert werden müssen. Die Holzfeuchtigkeit der Tragkonstruktionen betrug meistens langanhaltend über 20 %. Daher wurden Untersuchungen zu den Ursachen hoher Holzfeuchten in Eissporthallen durchgeführt. Eine der Ursachen liegt in dem Strahlungsaustausch zwischen der Hallendecke und der Eisfläche. Zu dieser Problematik wurden Versuche durchgeführt und daraus mögliche Verbesserungsvorschläge für Eissporthallen abgeleitet. About the humidity problem in ice rinks. After expertising the structural safety of several ice rinks, it was detected that the constructions of several buildings have to be redeveloped. The long lasting wood moisture of the main structure was predominantly over 20 %. Therefore research into the reason of high wood moisture in ice rinks was made. One fact is the exchange of radiation between the ceiling and the ice. This problem was analysed in tests and suggestions for improvement are made.  相似文献

The thermoelectric properties of melt-processed nanocomposites consisting of a polycarbonate (PC) thermoplastic matrix filled with commercially available carboxyl (–COOH) functionalized multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were evaluated. MWCNTs carrying carboxylic acid moieties (MWCNT-COOH) were used due the p-doping that the carboxyl groups facilitate, via electron withdrawing from the electron-rich π-conjugated system. Preliminary thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) of MWCNT-COOH revealed that the melt-mixing was limited at low temperatures due to thermal decomposition of the MWCNT functional groups. Therefore, PC was mixed with 2.5 wt% MWCNT-COOH (PC/MWCNT-COOH) at 240 °C and 270 °C. In order to reduce the polymer melt viscosity, a cyclic butylene terephthalate (CBT) oligomer was utilized as an additive, improving additionally the electrical conductivity of the nanocomposites. The melt rheological characterization of neat PC and PC/CBT blends demonstrated a significant decrease of the complex viscosity by the addition of CBT (10 wt%). Optical and transmission electron microscopy (OM, TEM) depicted an improved MWCNT dispersion in the PC/CBT polymer blend. The electrical conductivity was remarkably higher for the PC/MWCNT-COOH/CBT composites compared to the PC/MWCNT-COOH ones. Namely, the PC/MWCNT-COOH/CBT processed at 270 °C exhibited the best values with electrical conductivity; σ = 0.05 S/m, Seebeck coefficient; S = 13.55 μV/K, power factor; PF = 7.60 × 10−6μW/m K−2, and thermoelectric figure of merit; ZT = 7.94 × 10−9. The PC/MWCNT-COOH/CBT nanocomposites could be ideal candidates for large-scale thermal energy harvesting, even though the presently obtained ZT values are still too low for commercial applications.  相似文献

Magneto‐electric (ME) ceramic composites of cobalt ferrite (CoF) and lead zirconate titanate (PZT) were prepared by mechanical mixing of the constituent powders followed by cosintering. The cosintering conditions for nano‐sized CoF and submicrometer‐sized PZT powders were studied in detail. It was found that the CoF powder needs to be presintered at 700°C for 2 h to minimize the differences in the sintering kinetics of the constituent powders. Despite the low cosintering temperatures (900°C–1000°C) the interdiffusion of the cations from both phases was confirmed with energy‐dispersive X‐ray analysis and X‐ray diffraction. Efforts were made to optimize the cosintering conditions to prepare dense ceramic ME composites, which showed the converse ME effect.  相似文献

Distortions in the DNA sequence, such as damage or mispairs, are specifically recognized and processed by DNA repair enzymes. Many repair proteins and, in particular, glycosylases flip the target base out of the DNA helix into the enzyme’s active site. Our molecular dynamics simulations of DNA with intact and damaged (oxidized) methyl-cytosine show that the probability of being flipped is similar for damaged and intact methyl-cytosine. However, the accessibility of the different 5-methyl groups allows direct discrimination of the oxidized forms. Hydrogen-bonded patterns that vary between methyl-cytosine forms carrying a carbonyl oxygen atom are likely to be detected by the repair enzymes and may thus help target site recognition.  相似文献

The transition period in dairy cows (3 weeks prepartum until 3 weeks postpartum) is associated with substantial mobilization of energy stores, which is often associated with metabolic diseases. Nicotinic acid (NA) is an antilipolytic and lipid-lowering compound used to treat dyslipidaemia in humans, and it also reduces non-esterified fatty acids in cattle. In mice the G-protein coupled receptor 109A (GPR109A) ligand NA positively affects the secretion of adiponectin, an important modulator of glucose and fat metabolism. In cattle, the corresponding data linking NA to adiponectin are missing. Our objective was to examine the effects of NA on adiponectin and AMPK protein abundance and the expression of mRNAs of related genes such as chemerin, an adipokine that enhances adiponectin secretion in vitro. Differentiated bovine adipocytes were incubated with pertussis toxin (PTX) to verify the involvement of GPR signaling, and treated with 10 or 15 µM NA for 12 or 24 h. NA increased adiponectin concentrations (p ≤ 0.001) and the mRNA abundances of GPR109A (p ≤ 0.05) and chemerin (p ≤ 0.01). Pre-incubation with PTX reduced the adiponectin response to NA (p ≤ 0.001). The NA-stimulated secretion of adiponectin and the mRNA expression of chemerin in the bovine adipocytes were suggestive of GPR signaling-dependent improved insulin sensitivity and/or adipocyte metabolism in dairy cows.  相似文献

Poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) based nanocomposites with different surface-functionalized multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were prepared by melt mixing in a small scale compounder. With the incorporation of commercial functionalized MWCNTs, the β-phase in PVDF can be directly achieved from melt cooling, as verified by results of Fourier transform infrared spectrum and X-ray diffraction. Interestingly, nanocomposites with amino group functionalized MWCNTs showed the highest percentage of β-phase (17.4%) formation in PVDF, followed by those with hydroxyl groups (11.6%) and unmodified MWCNTs (9.4%). However, the nanocomposites containing MWCNTs with carboxyl groups which were thought to be able to well interact with the dipoles on PVDF chains have the lowest amount of β-phase, i.e. 4.7%. The analysis on the mechanism of the influence of surface functionalization of MWCNTs on the formation of β-phase in PVDF shows that the combined effects of the dispersion of MWCNTs and the nanotube–polymer interactions account for the formation of the β-phase in PVDF.  相似文献

Bioconjugates, such as antibody–drug conjugates, have gained recent attention because of their increasing use in therapeutic and diagnostic applications. Commonly used conjugation reactions based upon chemoselective reagents exhibit a number of drawbacks: most of these reactions lack regio‐ and stereospecificity, thus resulting in loss of protein functionality due to random modifications. Enzymes provide an obvious solution to this problem, but the intrinsic (natural) substrate specificities of existing enzymes pose severe limitations to the kind of modifications that can be introduced. Here we describe the application of the novel trypsin variant trypsiligase for site‐specific modification of the C terminus of a Fab antibody fragment via a stable peptide bond. The suitability of this designed biocatalyst was demonstrated by coupling the Her2‐specific Fab to artificial functionalities of either therapeutic (PEG) or diagnostic (fluorescein) relevance. In both cases we obtained homogeneously modified Fab products bearing the artificial functionality exclusively at the desired position.  相似文献

Transverse and longitudinal sectioning of undecalcified cortical bone is a commonly employed technique for investigating the lamellar structure of the osteons. Since a flat surface is required, the specimen has to be grinded and then polished. Whereas the smear of debris and inorganic/organic deposits left by these treatments cannot be removed by ultrasonication alone, a chemical treatment of the specimen surface with either a basic or an acid etching solution is currently employed. A further effect of the latter can be the enhancement of the lamellar bone pattern. The kind of etching solution, its pH, the concentration of etchants, and the contact time significantly affect the sectioned surface when it is observed with scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The etching procedures can severely influence the obtained images. Homogeneous cortical bone specimens were sampled from the first metatarsal of two fresh human subjects. One or two cut surfaces were exposed to different acid and basic solutions in bonded conditions. Considering the type of chemical agents, the solution pH, and the exposure time of the specimens, the effects of several etching media have been investigated and compared. Strong etching, either acid or basic produced surface decalcification and severe damage of the collagen matrix, compromising any morphological or morphometric analysis. Weak acid etching (for example citric and acetic acid), even though causing distinctive alteration of the sample, enhanced the visibility of the lamellar pattern, while the polyphosphate treatment of the surface decalcified a thin layer matrix, ensuring a good visibility of fibrils and avoiding rough distortions. The conversion of methane to higher hydrocarbons on single crystal Ru catalysts has been investigated using combined elevated-pressure kinetic measurements/surface science studies. The reaction consists of activation of methane on Ru(0001) and Ru(11¯20) surfaces to produce carbonaceous intermediates at temperatures between 350 and 700 K and rehydrogenation of these species to ethane and propane at 370 K. It is found that under the reaction conditions employed, the maximum yield in ethane/propane production occurs at 500 K on both surfaces. Influence of the hydrogenation temperature on the production of ethane and propane is also examined. On Ru(0001), the yields of ethane and propane maximize at = 400 K, whereas no maximum yield was observed on Ru(11 0) in the 300–500 K temperature range. Under optimum reaction conditions, hydrocarbon products consist of 16% ethane and 2% propane. High-resolution electron energy-loss spectroscopy (HREELS) has been used to identify various forms of hydrocarbonaceous intermediates following methane decomposition. An effort is made to relate the hydrocarbon intermediates identified by HREELS to the gas phase products observed in the elevated pressure experiments.  相似文献
