Long-range transported atmospheric pollutants in snowpacks accumulated at different altitudes in the Tatra Mountains (Slovakia) 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1

Persistent organic pollutants (POPs), including polychlorobiphenyls (PCB), endosulfans, hexachlorocyclohexanes (HCHs), hexachlorobenzene (HCB), polybromodiphenyl ethers (PBDEs), and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), were analyzed in snowpack samples collected along an altitudinal gradient (1683-2634 meters above sea level) in the High Tatra Mountains (Slovakia). All analyzed compounds were found at all altitudes, pointing to their global distribution. The presence of PBDEs, particularly BDE 209, in the snowpack samples is especially relevant, as it reflects the air transport capacity of this low volatile, very hydrophobic pollutant to remote mountain regions. The most abundant compounds at all altitudes were PAHs, with mean values ranging from 90 to 300 ngL(-1), 1 order of magnitude higher than concentrations of other compounds. PCBs (sum of PCB 28, 52, 101, 118, 153, 138, and 180) and BDE 209 were the dominant organohalogen pollutants, with concentrations from 550 to 1600 pg L(-1) and from 670 to 2000 pgL(-1), respectively. Low brominated PBDEs, endosulfans, HCHs and HCB were consistently found in all samples at lower concentrations. The concentrations of these compounds correlated positively with altitude (i.e., negatively with temperature), which is consistent with cold-trapping effects. The regression coefficients were positive and statistically significant (p < 0.05) for all compounds except BDE 209, endosulfan sulfate, HCB and α-HCH. Contrariwise, the concentrations of BDE 209 and endosulfan sulfate exhibited a statistically significant positive correlation with total particle amount, which agrees with long-range atmospheric transport associated to aerosols according to the physical-chemical properties of these compounds. Snow specific surface area, which determines the maximum amount of each organic compound that can be sorbed by snow, proved utile for describing the distribution of the more volatile compounds, namely α-HCB and HCB, in the snowpack. 相似文献

The use of ultrasound energy for accelerating the pronase E enzymatic hydrolysis of human hair for extracting illicit drugs has been novelty tested. The enzymatic extracts obtained after 30 min of sonication in an ultrasonic water bath were subjected to an optimized solid-phase extraction process, which involved a solution of 2.0% (v/v) acetic acid in methanol as eluting solution and concentration by N2 stream evaporation. A gas chromatography/mass spectrometry method was used to separate and determine cocaine, benzoylecgonine, codeine, morphine, and 6-monoacethylmorphine in 20 min. Variables affecting ultrasound-assisted pronase E hydrolysis such as hydrolysis temperature, hydrolysis time, enzyme concentration, catalyzer (1,4-dithiothreitol) concentration, ionic strength, pH, and ultrasound frequency were simultaneously evaluated by a Plackett-Burman design 2(8) PBD of resolution III. The most statistically significant variables were ionic strength and pH, which means that analyte extraction is mainly attributed to pronase E activity. The optimization or evaluation of all the factors has led to an accelerated pronase E hydrolysis of human hair, which can be completed in 30 min. Results have been found to be statistically similar to those obtained with conventional pronase E hydrolysis. due to chloride attack is the most important degradation process, chloride penetration rate has been compared with different
durability tests results (concrete strength, porosity, water absorption, water penetration depth under pressure, capillarity,
water and oxygen permeability) carried out on concrete cores obtained from the caissons of seven Spanish wharves. Data have
been studied separately, depending on concrete location (chloride penetration rate is faster in submerged concretes than in
tidal zone concretes) and cement type (mineral admixtures reduce permeation rate due to pore size refinement). Results show
that it is advisable to control concrete water tightness through water penetration under pressure test; additionally, in order

The assessment of promotional sales with models constructed by machine learning techniques is arousing interest due, among other reasons, to the current economic situation leading to a more complex environment of simultaneous and concurrent promotional activities. An operative model diagnosis procedure was previously proposed in the companion paper, which can be readily used both for agile decision making on the architecture and implementation details of the machine learning algorithms, and for differential benchmarking among models. In this paper, a detailed example of model analysis is presented for two representative databases with different promotional behaviour, namely, a non-seasonal category (milk) and a heavily seasonal category (beer). The performance of four well-known machine learning techniques with increasing complexity is analyzed in detail here. In particular, k-Nearest Neighbours, General Regression Neural Networks, Multilayer Perceptron (MLP), and Support Vector Machines (SVM), are differentially compared. Present paper evaluates these techniques along the experiments described for both categories when applying the methodological findings obtained in the companion paper. We conclude that some elements included in the architecture are not essential for a good performance of the machine learning promotional models, such as the semiparametric nature of the kernel in SVM models, whereas other can be strongly dependent of the database, such as the convenience of multiple output models in MLP regression schemes. Additionally, the specificity of the behaviour of certain categories and product ranges determines the need to establish suitable and specific procedures for a better prediction and feature extraction. 相似文献

Wistar rats were fed with surimi gels containing either sunflower oil, fish oil (ω3), and the same formulation additionally supplemented with 1.05 g kg−1 quercetin (ω3‐Q). Antioxidant capacity was highest in gels with added quercetin when measured by the ferric‐reducing/antioxidant power (FRAP) method, but not by the 2,2‐diphenyl‐1‐picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) free radical assay. Lipid stability was not enhanced by quercetin since commercial fish oil already contains stabilizers. Quercetin modified neither rheological properties nor water‐holding capacity of the gels; however, it produced a large increase in yellowness (b*). Serum lipid profile of rats was not significantly different. Total serum antioxidant capacity by FRAP was significantly increased only in the ω3‐Q group. Plasma malondialdehyde was similar in the ω3 and ω3‐Q groups, indicating no prooxidative effect of quercetin in vivo. To determine the modulus of elasticity of concrete precisely is very important for structures that require strict control of the deformability. International codes propose a wide variety of formulae which establish a relationship between modulus of elasticity and compressive strength. Most of these codes are valid up to 50 MPa, the usual limit for normal concretes. A research programme has been carried out to establish the modulus of elasticity-compressive strength curve for low and high strength concretes. The effect of the aggregate also has been studied. This is an important factor to take into account, sometimes more important than the concrete strength itself or even age. A model code formula provides good correlation with experiment up to a compressive strength of 120 MPa. Other aggregates not considered for this code have been studied and results given. Also, the influence of age on the modulus of elasticity is discussed. 相似文献

Immunological techniques based on double immunodiffusion and immunodotting have been designed to detect the substitution
of halibut (Hippoglossus hippoglossus) for sole (Solea solea) fillets. An immunodotting technique has been also developed to differentiate between smoked cod (Gadus morhua) and smoked eel (Anguilla anguilla) fillets. Antisera raised against water-soluble extracts of raw halibut and smoked cod were employed. Antiserum to cod proteins
did not show cross-reaction with eel proteins, whereas antiserum to halibut proteins cross-reacted with sole proteins. Species-specific
antiserum to halibut proteins was achieved by adsorption on a polymer of sole proteins. These methods are very easy to perform
and provide the basis for the development of rapid tests for detecting species substitution in fish products.

A multi-armed Bandit Problem is considered such that at each decision epoch it is to be decided the next project to be undertaken
and the span of time to be spent in this project, instead of reconsidering the new project at each stage. This extended model,
inspired in sequentially planned decision procedures (Schmitz, 1993), is formulated in Section 1 and tries to exploit the
reduction of costs produced by longer periods dedicated to the same activity. Following the method by Whittle (1980). Section
2 introduces a retirement option with a variable rewardM, and Section 3 extends Gittins indexes to this case. Another relevant conclusion is that the optimal period of activity for
each project does not depend on the retirement rewardM. Finally, we show that the optimal strategy is to choose the project with the highest Gittins index. 相似文献
