Honey legislation has been addressed to establish the minimum marketing level of the product and the need for consumer protection through correct denominations. Research oriented toward assessment of floral origin and physicochemical properties may increase the commercial value of these products. The characteristics of thirty‐one honeys produced in the Entre‐Douro e Minho region in Portugal were studied. Pollen features and some physicochemical parameters (moisture, ash, pH, free acidity, electrical conductivity, hydroxymethylfurfural contain, apparent sucrose, reducing sugars and diastase activity) were determined. The samples were found to meet international honey specifications. The present study found a linear regression between the ash content of honeys and their specific conductivity. Five samples are listed as Eucalyptus honey, one sample as Citrus honey, and twenty‐five samples as multifloral honeys. Of the total, 87.1% exceeded the quality parameters and should be labelled as ‘virgin’ honey. 相似文献

Femtosecond pulses from a Ti:Sapphire laser were used to irradiate specimens of yttria-stabilised (35% mol) tetragonal zirconia (Y-TZP) with the purpose of studying the effects of the irradiations on their surface properties and morphology after ageing. Zirconia disks were divided into eight groups (n = 32) according to their surface treatment and subsequent ageing: Control: no treatment; sandblasting: Al2O3 sandblasting 50 μm; and ultrashort laser pulses irradiation with 25 μJ pulses, considering two different scanning steps based on the width between two grooves. These groups were duplicated and submitted to ageing. The surfaces were analysed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and X-ray diffraction. A finite element analysis, a biaxial flexure test, as well as fractographic and Weibull analyses, were performed. The strengths of the disks were statistically different for the treatment factor, and the principal stresses seemed to be concentrated at the centre of the specimens, as predicted by the computer simulations. Ageing decreased the strengths for all groups and increased the Weibull modulus for the laser group with the 40 μm-width between two grooves. The sandblasting group presented the highest monoclinic phase peak. Although the most significant strength was found within the sandblasting group, the phase transformation was favourable to the laser groups. The Weibull modulus was higher for the laser group with the 60 μm-width between two grooves, confirming the highest homogeneity of its failure distribution. Regardless of the surface treatment, strength was decreased with ageing in all groups. The femtosecond Ti:Sa ultra-short pulse laser irradiation can be suggested as an alternative to the gold standard sandblasting in long-term Y-TZP zirconia rehabilitations, such as crowns and veneers. 相似文献

Sulfonylguanidines are interesting bioactive compounds with a broad range of applications in the treatment of different pathologies. 2-Aminobenzazole-based structures are well employed in the development of new anticancer drugs. Two series of novel N-benzazol-2-yl-N′-sulfonyl guanidine derivatives were synthesized with the sulfonylguanidine in either an extra- or intracyclic frame. They were evaluated for their antiproliferative activity against malignant melanoma tumor cells, thus allowing structure-activity relationships to be defined. Additionally, NCI-60 screening was performed for the best analogue to study its efficiency against a panel of other cancer cell lines. The stability profile of this promising compound was then validated. Polyurethane foams with different formulations were synthesized and characterized for use as supporting matrices of granular solid adsorbents. The open cell content, specific gravity, thermal stability, and hydrophobicity were determined and related to the formulation composition. The synthesized foams had open cell contents of 88.1–98.5% and specific gravity values of 120–28 kg m?3. The thermal stability of the prepared foams was influenced mainly by the water content and the type of isocyanate used. The hydrophobicity was assessed by an analysis of the water adsorption isotherms determined on selected foams, and a correlation between these results and the formulation of the foams was attempted. Two types of activated carbons were supported in a polyurethane matrix. The adsorption characteristics evaluated before and after the supporting procedure, by nitrogen adsorption, revealed that there was only a moderate surface area reduction of 15–20%. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this paper, the structural and dielectric properties of SrBi2Nb2O9 (SBN) as a function of Bi2O3 or La2O3 addition level in the radio (RF) and microwave frequencies were investigated. The SBN, were prepared by using a new procedure in the solid-state reaction method with the addition of 3; 5; 10 and 15 wt.% of Bi2O3 or La2O3. A single orthorhombic phase was formed after calcination at 900 °C for 2 h. The analysis by x-ray diffraction (XRD) using the Rietveld refinement confirmed the formation of single-phase compound with a crystal structure (a?=?5.5129 Å, b?=?5.5183 Å and c?=?25.0819 Å; α?=?β?=?γ?=?90°). Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) micrograph of the material shows globular morphologies (nearly spherical) of grains throughout the surface of the samples. The Curie temperature found for the undoped sample was about 400 °C, with additions of Bi3+, the temperature decreases and with additions of La3+ the Curie temperature increased significantly above 450 °C. In the measurements of the dielectric properties of SBN at room temperature, one observe that at 10 MHz the highest values of permittivity was observed for SBN5LaP (5%La2O3) with values of 116,71 and the lower loss (0.0057) was obtained for SBN15LaP (15%La2O3). In the microwave frequency region, Bi2O3 added samples have shown higher dielectric permittivity than La2O3 added samples, we highlight the SBN15BiG (15 % Bi2O3) with the highest dielectric permittivity of 70.32 (3.4 GHz). The dielectric permittivity values are in the range of 28–71 and dielectric losses are of the order of 10?2. Laser deposit welding based on modern ND-YAG lasers is a new mould repair process with advantages relatively to the traditional methods (micro-plasma and TIG methods), namely deposition of small volumes of the filler material without distortion. Residual stresses play a major role on the fatigue and thermal–mechanical fatigue behaviour of welds. This paper presents the experimental results and numerical predictions of the residual stresses in joints manufactured with two hot-working tool steels: X.40.CrMoV.5.1 and 40.CrMnNiMo.8.6.4, in the laser-deposited layer and in the heat-affected zone. Welded specimens were prepared with U notches and filled with ND-YAG laser welding deposits. Trough-depth residual stresses evaluation after laser deposit welding were performed in order to analyse the influence of the residual stress state on fatigue behaviour of mould steels. Both X-ray diffraction sin2γ method (XRD) and incremental hole-drilling technique (IHD) were used in residual stress measurement. Numerical predictions of the residual stress distributions were obtained for several values of the technologic parameters, compared with experimental results and discussed based on the assumptions stated. 相似文献

New statistical methods have recently been developed to reconstruct and analyze dark matter mass maps from weak lensing observations. The field of weak lensing is motivated by the observations made in the last decades showing that the visible matter represents only about 4-5% of the Universe, the rest being dark. The Universe is now thought to be mostly composed of an invisible, pressureless matter, potentially a relic from higher energy theories, called dark matter (20-21%) and by an even more mysterious term, described in Einstein equations as a vacuum energy density, called dark energy (70%). Antimicrobial films were formed by the incorporation of nisin (NI), natamycin (NA) and a combination of both (NI + NA) into cellulose polymer. Film efficacies were evaluated in vitro against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 6538, Listeria monocytogenes ATCC 15313, Penicillium sp. and Geotrichum sp. The films were also evaluated on sliced mozzarella cheese against moulds and yeasts, Staphylococcus sp. and psychrotrophic bacteria. Mechanical and microscopic properties of the films and the diffusion of the antimicrobial agents from the film to the cheese were also evaluated. Films containing NI showed an antimicrobial effect in vitro against S. aureus and L. monocytogenes, while films containing NA were effective in vitro against Penicillium sp. and Geotrichum sp. By the ninth day of storage at 12 ± 2°C, the count of yeasts and moulds on cheese covered with films containing NA decreased 2 log10 units compared with the count on cheese with control films. NI film did not show an effect against Staphylococcus sp., but it was effective against psychrotrophic bacteria for 6 days of storage of the cheese. The incorporation of antimicrobial compounds decreased the resistance and elongation of the films and caused changes in their molecular conformation. NI diffusion from the films to the cheese was not detected; however, time‐dependent diffusion of NA from the film containing NI + NA was measured. The incorporation of NI and NA together in the films did not show an effect. The film containing NA showed potential for application as active food packaging for sliced mozzarella cheese.
