A series of copolymeric nanoparticles of the partially water‐soluble monomer ethyl methacrylate and the water‐soluble monomer 2‐hydroxyl ethyl methacrylate were synthesized from emulsions containing sodium dodecyl sulfate via free‐radical polymerization. Lamotrigine, as a model drug, was loaded in nanoparticles during in situ polymerization. A stable and transparent poly(ethyl methacrylate‐co‐hydroxyl ethyl methacrylate) nanolatex was produced for all compositions and characterized for particle size by dynamic light scattering and transmission electron microscopy. Particles were found to be smaller than 50 nm in size. Structural characterization of copolymers was done by infrared spectrometry, gel permeation chromatography, and NMR spectroscopy. Drug encapsulation efficiency was determined by ultraviolet (UV)–visible spectrometry and was found to be 26–62% for copolymers with different compositions. UV data suggest molecular‐level dispersion of the drug in the nanoparticles. In vitro drug‐release studies showed the controlled release of lamotrigine. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Pyrrole was polymerized in the presence of anhydrous ferric chloride as oxidant and p‐toluene sulfonic acid as dopant. Polypyrrole‐coated short nylon fibers were prepared by polymerizing pyrrole in the presence of short nylon fibers. The resultant polypyrrole (PPy) and PPy‐coated nylon fiber (F‐PPy) were then used to prepare rubber composites based on acrylonitrile butadiene rubber (NBR). The cure pattern, direct current (DC) conductivity, mechanical properties, morphology, thermal degradation parameters, and microwave characteristics of the resulting composites were studied. PPy retarded the cure reaction while F‐PPy accelerated the cure reaction. Compared to PPy, F‐PPy was found to be more effective in enhancing the DC conductivity of NBR. The tensile strength and modulus values increased on adding PPy and F‐PPy to NBR, suggesting a reinforcement effect. Incorporation of PPy and F‐PPy improved the thermal stability of NBR. The absolute value of the dielectric permittivity, alternating current (AC) conductivity, and absorption coefficient of the conducting composites prepared were found to be much greater than the gum vulcanizate. Chemical modification of pinewood was carried out by impregnating the wood with styrene as the impregnating monomer and in combination with a crosslinking monomer glycidyl methacrylate (GMA). Polymerization was carried out by catalyst heat treatment. Dimensional stability in terms of antiswell efficiency was determined and improved on treatment with polymer. Water uptake percentage was also improved for styrene‐GMA treated wood samples over styrene treated or untreated wood samples. Mechanical properties such as bending strength measured in terms of modulus of elasticity and modulus of rupture of polymer‐treated samples showed an improvement over untreated ones. Treatment also resulted an improvement in compressive strengths. Thermal properties of the wood samples were evaluated by thermogravimetric analyzer and differential scanning calorimeter. Biodegradability of the treated and untreated wood samples was determined and improvement was obtained on treatment. Research dealing with early diagnosis and efficient treatment in colon cancer to improve patient''s survival is still under investigation. Chemotherapeutic agent result in high systemic toxicity due to their non‐specific actions on DNA repair and/or cell replication. Traditional medicine such as Lycopodium clavatum (LC) has been claimed to have therapeutic potentials against cancer. The present study focuses on targeted drug delivery of cationic liposomal nanoformulated LC (CL‐LC) in colon cancer cells (HCT15) and comparing the efficacy with an anti‐colon cancer drug, 7‐ethyl‐10‐hydroxy‐camptothecin (SN38) along with its nanoformulated form (CL‐SN38). The colloidal suspension of LC was made using thin film hydration method. The drugs were characterised using ultraviolet, dynamic light scattering, scanning electron microscopy, energy, dispersive X‐ray spectroscopy. In vitro drug release showed kinetics of 49 and 89% of SN38 and LC, whereas CL‐SN38 and CL‐LC showed 73 and 74% of sustained drug release, respectively. Studies on morphological changes, cell viability, cytotoxicity, apoptosis, cancer‐associated gene expression analysis of Bcl‐2, Bax, p53 by real‐time polymerase chain reaction and western blot analysis of Bad and p53 protein were performed. Nanocrystalline La0.9Sr0.1Al0.85Co0.05Mg0.1O3 oxide powder was synthesized by a citrate–nitrate auto-ignition process and characterized by thermal analysis, X-ray diffraction, and impedance spectroscopy measurements. Nanocrystalline (50–100 nm) powder with perovskite structure could be produced at 900°C by this process. The powder could be sintered to a density more than 96% of the theoretical density at 1550°C. Impedance measurements on the sintered samples unequivocally established the potential of this process in developing nanostructured lanthanum aluminate-based oxides. The sintered La0.9Sr0.1Al0.85Co0.05Mg0.1O3 sample exhibited a conductivity of 2.40 × 10−2 S/cm in air at 1000°C compared with 4.9 × 10−3 S/cm exhibited by La0.9Sr0.1Al0.85Mg0.15O3.  相似文献

Experimental investigation has been done in unbaffled gas-liquid stirred tanks using dual concave blade impeller to analyze the mass transfer, power consumption and gas holdup. Optimal impeller clearance has been suggested for lower and upper impeller based on maximum mass transfer rate. Numerical modeling has been done to analyze the flow pattern for different combinations of impeller clearance. The lower impeller positioned at 0.3 of tank diameter and clearance between lower and upper impeller at 0.4 of tank diameter gave the maximum mass transfer coefficient. Scale-up criteria for mass transfer rate, power and gas holdup have been developed for optimal geometrical similar systems of unbaffled stirred tanks with dual concave impeller.  相似文献

Over the past era, subgraph mining from a large collection of graph database is a crucial problem. In addition, scalability is another big problem due to insufficient storage. There are several security challenges associated with subgraph mining in today’s on-demand system. To address this downside, our proposed work introduces a Blockchain-based Consensus algorithm for Authenticated query search in the Large-Scale Dynamic Graphs (BCCA-LSDG). The two-fold process is handled in the proposed BCCA-LSDG: graph indexing and authenticated query search (query processing). A blockchain-based reputation system is meant to maintain the trust blockchain and cloud server of the proposed architecture. To resolve the issues and provide safe big data transmission, the proposed technique also combines blockchain with a consensus algorithm architecture. Security of the big data is ensured by dividing the BC network into distinct networks, each with a restricted number of allowed entities, data kept in the cloud gate server, and data analysis in the blockchain. The consensus algorithm is crucial for maintaining the speed, performance and security of the blockchain. Then Dual Similarity based MapReduce helps in mapping and reducing the relevant subgraphs with the use of optimal feature sets. Finally, the graph index refinement process is undertaken to improve the query results. Concerning query error, fuzzy logic is used to refine the index of the graph dynamically. The proposed technique outperforms advanced methodologies in both blockchain and non-blockchain systems, and the combination of blockchain and subgraph provides a secure communication platform, according to the findings.  相似文献
