We present an experimental realization of the first iteration in Grover's quantum algorithm using classical light and linear optical elements. The algorithm serves to find an entry marked by an oracle in an unstructured database. In our scheme, the quantum states encoding the database are represented by helical modes generated by means of a Spatial Light Modulator, while the marking corresponds to a π phase shift of the hidden mode. The optical implementation of Grover's algorithm then selectively amplifies the intensity of the marked mode such that it can be revealed by a modal decomposition. The core of the algorithm – a geometrical reflection of the point representing all database entries – is implemented in a single step independent of the size of the database. Moreover, we demonstrate experimentally that one iteration of the algorithm is enough to identify the marked entry, as a consequence of using classical states of light.  相似文献

In this study, we evaluated the effects of topographic correction and gap filling of Landsat Enhanced Thematic Mapper Plus (ETM+) images on the accuracy of forest change detection through a trajectory-based approach. Four types of Landsat time series stacks (LTSS) were generated. These stacks resulted from combinations of topographically corrected and uncorrected imagery combined with gap-filled and unfilled stacks. These combinations of stacks were then used as input into a trajectory-based change detection. The results of change detection from trajectory-based analysis using these LTSS were compared in order to assess the effects of both topographic correction and gap-filling procedures on the ability to detect forest disturbances. The results showed that overall accuracies of change detection were improved after gap filling (10.5% and 7.5%), but were only slightly improved after topographic correction (3.6% and 0.6%). Although the gap-filling process introduced some uncertainty that might have caused false change detection, the number of pixels whose detection of disturbance was enhanced after gap filling exceeded those detecting false change. The results also showed that the topographic correction did not contribute much to improve the change detection in this study area. However, topographic correction has a potential to increase the accuracy of change detection in areas of more rugged terrain and steep slopes. This is because a direct relationship between the slope of the topography with topographic correction and an enhanced detection of disturbance in pixels from year to year was observed in this study. For robust change detection, we recommend that a gap-filling process should be included in the trajectory-based analysis procedures such as the one used in this study where a single image per year is used to characterize change. We also recommend that in areas of rugged terrain, a topographic correction in the image pre-processing should be implemented.  相似文献

In this study, a visual similarity metric based on precision–recall graphs is presented as an alternative to the widely used Hausdorff distance (HD). Such metric, called maximum cardinality similarity metric, is computed between a reference shape and a test template, each one represented by a set of edge points. We address this problem using a bipartite graph representation of the relationship between the sets. The matching problem is solved using the Hopcroft–Karp algorithm, taking advantage of its low computational complexity. We present a comparison between our results and those obtained from applying the partial Hausdorff distance (PHD) to the same test sets. Similar results were found using both approaches for standard template-matching applications. Nevertheless, the proposed methodology is more accurate at determining the completeness of partial shapes under noise conditions. Furthermore, the processing time required by our methodology is lower than that required to compute the PHD, for a large set of points.  相似文献

This paper reviews our previous theoretical studies and gives further insight into phonon scattering in 3D small nanotransistors using non-equilibrium Green function methodology. The focus is on very small gate-all-around nanowires with Si, GaAs or InGaAs cores. We have calculated phonon-limited mobility and transfer characteristics for a variety of cross-sections at low and high drain bias. The nanowire cross-sectional area is shown to have a significant impact on the phonon-limited mobility and on the current reduction. In a study of narrow Si nanowires we have examined the spatially resolved power dissipation and the validity of Joule’s law. Our results show that only a fraction of the power is dissipated inside the drain region even for a relatively large simulated length extension (approximately 30 nm). When considering large source regions in the simulation domain, at low gate bias, a slight cooling of the source is observed. We have also studied the impact of the real part of phonon scattering self-energy on a narrow nanowire transistor. This real part is usually neglected in nanotransistor simulation, whereas we compute its impact on current–voltage characteristic and mobility. At low gate bias, the imaginary part strongly underestimated the current and the mobility by 50 %. At high gate bias, the two mobilities are similar and the effect on the current is negligible.  相似文献

Ultra wideband radio (UWB) is a new wireless technology that uses narrow pulses to transmit information. Implementing an “all-digital” UWB receiver has numerous potential benefits ranging from low-cost and ease-of-design to flexibility. Digitizing an RF signal near the antenna, however, introduces its own set of challenges and has traditionally been considered infeasible. A high-speed, high-resolution analog-digital converter (ADC) is difficult to design, and is extremely power-hungry. The viability of an “all-digital” architecture, therefore, hinges upon the specifications of this block. In this paper, we demonstrate that 4 bits of resolution are sufficient for reliable detection of a typical UWB signal that is swamped in noise and interference.  相似文献

The boron forms of the zeolite Beta (B‐Beta) and SSZ‐33 (B‐SSZ‐33) are treated with vapors of ZrCl4 in an attempt to substitute the framework boron for zirconium. The resulting materials Zr‐Beta and Zr‐SSZ‐33 are characterized by X‐ray diffraction (XRD), solid state NMR, FTIR, pyridine adsorption and Raman spectroscopies. In the case of zeolite Beta, Zr substitutes the B present in the framework nearly in a one‐to‐one basis. No evidence is found in support of the tetrahedral Zr fully incorporated into the zeolite framework; Zr is only partially grafted to the zeolite framework giving rise to silanol groups adjacent to the Zr atom. No evidence of extra‐framework zirconia is observed. For SSZ‐33, the amount of zirconium incorporated is significantly less than the amount of boron present in the parent zeolite. Due to the size of ZrCl4, a multidimensional 12‐ring pore system is required for our procedure of Zr incorporation to be effective. Zr‐Beta is an acid catalyst superior in activity to B‐Beta for the isomerization of 1‐butene. This revised version was published online in July 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

The present article reports the development and characterization of carbon nanofiber (CNF)‐incorporated carbon/phenolic multiscale composites. Vapor‐grown CNFs were dispersed homogeneously in to phenolic resin using an effective dispersion route, and carbon fabrics were subsequently impregnated with the CNF‐dispersed resin to develop carbon fiber/CNF/phenolic resin multiscale composites. Mechanical and thermal transmission properties of multiscale composites were characterized. Elastic modulus and thermal conductivity of neat carbon/phenolic and multiscale composites were predicted and compared with the experimental results. It was observed that incorporation of only 1.5 wt % CNF resulted in 10% improvement in Young's modulus, 12% increase in tensile strength, and 36% increase in thermal conductivity of carbon/phenolic composites. Fracture surface of composite samples revealed the formation of stronger fiber/matrix interface in case of multiscale composites than neat carbon/phenolic composites. Enhancement of above properties through CNF addition has been explained, and the difference between the predicted values and experimental results has been discussed. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. The ability to incorporate medium chain length poly(hydroxyalkanoate) (mcl‐PHA) in the styrene miniemulsion polymerization process was investigated. As a result, novel poly(hydroxyalkanoate)‐co‐poly(stryrene) (PHA‐co‐PS) copolymers were synthesized in the form of stable organic–organic hybrid latexes. Evidence of chemical grafting of mcl‐PHA and cross‐linking of the PHA grafts was obtained using NMR, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), gel extraction, and rheological analysis. A high degree of mcl‐PHA grafting was achieved by maintaining proper miniemulsion polymerization conditions throughout the course of the polymerization. The incorporation of PHA grafts was a function of the level of PHA in the formulations as well as the reaction conditions, as evidenced by solvent extraction and rheological analysis. DSC showed shifts in the Tg of PS towards higher temperatures, indicating chemical interaction of PS‐PHA.
