Bovine parvovirus 1 (Haden virus) gives with grown in 0–24 h secondary cultures of calf kidney a pronounced CPE. The virus is very thermoresistant, it takes e.g. at 60°C 6 h to decrease the titer of infectivity 1 log unit.When seeded in liquid manure the virus becomes inactivated at a rate of around 6–8 days for 1 log unit under aerobic conditions at 5–20°C. The inactivation under anaerobic conditions is very temperature dependent: at 5°C it takes about 200 days to decrease the titer 1 log unit, but at 20°C a rate of inactivation of 20 days per log unit of virus was found.It is suggested that the bovine parvoviruses may be useful as indicators in connection with evaluations of the importance of viral bovine faecal pollution. For evaluations of treatment efficiencies it is suggested that these parvoviruses may also be used as indicators for human enteric viruses like the virus of infectious hepatitis.  相似文献

Accumulation of platinum group elements (PGEs) in the environment has been increased over the time. Catalytic converters of modern vehicles are considered to be the main sources of PGE pollution, since the correlation is between the Pt:Rh ratios in various environmental compartments and in converter units. The present literature survey shows that the concentration of these metals has increased significantly in the last decades in diverse environmental matrices; like airborne particulate matter, soil, roadside dust and vegetation, river, coastal and oceanic environment. Generally, PGEs are referred to behave in an inert manner and to be immobile. However, there is an evidence of spread and bioaccumulation of these elements in the environment. Platinum content of road dusts can be soluble, consequently, it enters the waters, sediments, soil and finally, the food chain. The effect of chronic occupational exposure to Pt compounds is well-documented, and certain Pt species are known to exhibit allergenic potential. However, the toxicity of biologically available anthropogenic Pt is not clear. Hence, there is a need to study the effect on human health of long-term chronic exposure to low levels of Pt compounds.  相似文献

Optimal Design of Pressurized Irrigation Subunit   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
A linear programming (LP) model is presented for optimal design of the pressurized irrigation system subunit. The objective function of the LP is to minimize the equivalent annual fixed cost of pipe network of the irrigation system and its annual operating energy cost. The hydraulic characteristics in the irrigation subunit are ensured by using the length, energy conservation, and pressure head constraints. The input data are the system layout, segment-wise cost and hydraulic gradients in all the alternative pipe diameters, and energy cost per unit head of pumping water through the pipeline network. The output data are: segment-wise lengths of different diameters, operating inlet pressure head, and equivalent annual cost of the pipeline network. The explicit optimal design is demonstrated with design examples on lateral and submain or manifold of pressurized irrigation systems. The effect of the equations for friction head loss calculation on optimization procedure is investigated through the design example for microirrigation manifold. The performance evaluation of the proposed model in comparison with the analytical methods, graphical methods, numerical solutions, and dynamic programming optimization model reveals the good performance of the proposed model. The verification of operating inlet pressure head obtained by the proposed model with accurate numerical step-by-step method suggested that it is mostly accurate.  相似文献

Milk fermented with mixed dahi cultures NCDC167, Lactococcus lactis ssp diacetylactis NCDC60 and two probiotic strains; Lactobacillus acidophilus NCDC14 and Lb. casei NCDC19 were evaluated after fermentation (14 h) and during 8 d storage at 7 degrees C. The beta-galactosidase activity was found to increase after fermentation leading to the hydrolysis of lactose and production of glucose, galactose and oligosaccharides; that subsequently decreased during storage. The viable counts of lactococci and lactobacilli decreased during storage yet remained >106 cfu/ml after storage. The results of present study indicate that all the selected cultures have ability to produce oligosaccharides (prebiotics) due to transgalactosidal and lactose hydrolysis activities of beta-galactosidase. The cultures developed an active synbiotic formula by maintaining sufficient probiotic viable counts to exert health benefits to the consumers.  相似文献

We describe our new reaction route (RR) graph approach as a powerful new tool for topological mechanistic and kinetic analysis of catalytic reaction networks, illustrated here with the help of methanol decomposition on Pt(111). In this approach a graph-theoretic network of molecular reaction steps is first constructed for the overall reaction (OR), on which each mechanistic step is represented by a directed branch interconnected at nodes, such that all conceivable reaction pathways can then be traced on it simply as walks or paths. Further, the network is consistent with the basic laws of flow graphs, so that it is suitable for a quantitative analysis. In fact, a direct analogy can be made to an equivalent wiring diagram, which allows tools of electric circuit analysis, namely, Kirchhoff's laws of current (rate) and potential (affinity), to be directly utilized for a rigorous flux analysis of the network. As a result, the dominant pathways as well as the rate-limiting steps (RLS) become transparent. This furthermore facilitates network pruning to retain only the essential steps and pathways. The RR graph approach when combined with ab initio kinetics, thus, provides a rigorous new framework for analyzing the mechanism and kinetics of catalytic reactions. It is, thus, found that methanol decomposition proceeds exclusively via the initial CH dehydrogenation step rather than through OH bond activation.  相似文献

Unsymmetrical dimethylhydrazine and monomethylhydrazine are the two well‐known liquid propellants. Substantial amounts of sodium chloride present in the aqueous unsymmetrical dimethylhydrazine and monomethylhydrazine reaction liquors. Pervaporation experiments have been conducted using dense chitosan membrane for desalting of these reaction liquors. The effect of membrane thickness, salt concentration in the feed, and permeate pressures on flux and % rejection have been studied and discussed to optimize the conditions. © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Nanoparticles have useful properties, but it is often important that they only start working after they are placed in a desired location. The encapsulation of nanoparticles allows their function to be preserved until they are released at a specific time or location, and this has been exploited in the development of self-healing materials and in applications such as drug delivery. Encapsulation has also been used to stabilize and control the release of substances, including flavours, fragrances and pesticides. We recently proposed a new technique for the repair of surfaces called 'repair-and-go'. In this approach, a flexible microcapsule filled with a solution of nanoparticles rolls across a surface that has been damaged, stopping to repair any defects it encounters by releasing nanoparticles into them, then moving on to the next defect. Here, we experimentally demonstrate the repair-and-go approach using droplets of oil that are stabilized with a polymer surfactant and contain CdSe nanoparticles. We show that these microcapsules can find the cracks on a surface and selectively deliver the nanoparticle contents into the crack, before moving on to find the next crack. Although the microcapsules are too large to enter the cracks, their flexible walls allow them to probe and adhere temporarily to the interior of the cracks. The release of nanoparticles is made possible by the thin microcapsule wall (comparable to the diameter of the nanoparticles) and by the favourable (hydrophobic-hydrophobic) interactions between the nanoparticle and the cracked surface.  相似文献

Ga–N co-doped ZnO thin films with reduced bandgaps were deposited on F-doped tin-oxide-coated glass by radio-frequency magnetron sputtering at different substrate temperatures in mixed N2 and O2 gas ambient. We found that Ga–N co-doped ZnO films exhibited enhanced crystallinity when compared to undoped ZnO films grown under the same conditions. Furthermore, Ga–N co-doping ensured enhanced N-incorporation ZnO thin films as the substrate temperature is increased. As a result, Ga–N co-doped ZnO thin films exhibited much improved photoelectrochemical (PEC) response, compared to ZnO thin films. Our results therefore suggest that the passive co-doping approach could be a means to improve PEC response for bandgap-reduced wide-bandgap oxides through impurity incorporation.  相似文献
