Bubble-free electrokinetic pumping   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Bubble-free electroosmotic flow (fr-EOF) of aqueous electrolytes in microfluidic channels with integrated electrodes is demonstrated. Undesirable electrolytic bubble formation is avoided by applying a periodic, zero net charge current to generate a nonzero average potential between the electrodes. Electrokinetic pressure generated in this active segment of the microchannel drives now upstream and downstream where electric field is absent. Flow rates commensurate with theoretical predictions for EOF driven by a dc voltage equivalent to the average net potential have been measured. By significantly reducing driving potentials and liquid exposure time to strong electric fields, fr-EOF opens the way for fully integrated, versatile micro total analysis systems (/spl mu/TAS).  相似文献

The impact of the chemical structure and molecular order on the charge transport properties of two donor–acceptor copolymers in their neutral and doped states is investigated. Both polymers comprise 3,7‐bis((E)‐7‐fluoro‐1‐(2‐octyl‐dodecyl)‐2‐oxoindolin‐3‐ylidene)‐3,7‐dihydrobenzo[1,2‐b:4,5‐b′]difuran‐2,6‐dione (FBDOPV) as electron‐accepting unit, copolymerized with 9,9‐dioctyl‐fluorene (P(FBDOPV‐F)) or with 3‐dodecyl‐2,2′‐bithiophene (P(FBDOPV‐2T‐C12)). These copolymers possess an amorphous and semi‐crystalline nature, respectively, and exhibit remarkable electron mobilities of 0.065 and 0.25 cm2 V–1 s–1 in field effect transistors. However, after chemical n‐doping with 4‐(1,3‐dimethyl‐2,3‐dihydro‐1H‐benzoimidazol‐2‐yl)phenyl)dimethylamine (N‐DMBI), electrical conductivities four orders of magnitude higher can be achieved for P(FBDOPV‐2T‐C12) (σ = 0.042 S cm?1). More charge‐transfer complexes are formed between P(FBDOPV‐F) and N‐DMBI, but the highly localized polaronic states poorly contribute to the charge transport. Doped P(FBDOPV‐2T‐C12) exhibits a negative Seebeck coefficient of –265 µV K?1 and a thermoelectric power factor (PF) of 0.30 µW m?1 K?2 at 303 K which increases to 0.72 µW m?1 K?2 at 388 K. The in‐plane thermal conductivity (κ|| = 0.53 W m?1 K?1) on the same micrometer‐thick solution‐processed film is measured, resulting in a figure of merit (ZT) of 5.0 × 10?4 at 388 K. The results provide important design guidelines to improve the doping efficiency and thermoelectric properties of n‐type organic semiconductors.  相似文献

Periodic arrays of anisotropic silver nanoparticles having peculiar optical properties are fabricated at a macroscopic scale. The proposed scalable method is based on temperature‐assisted solid‐state dewetting of a continuous thin layer deposited on a silica substrate patterned by the nanoimprint technique. The resulting nanoparticles are shaped like diamonds and are half‐embedded into the patterned silica. A period‐dependent optimum in film thickness for the quality of spatial organization is found and discussed in terms of thermodynamics and, for the first time, in terms of the role of grains in the dewetting process. The optical properties of the arrays are driven by not only simply the particle shape but also the lattice period and the degree of order. A surface lattice resonance that disperses with the underlying period is evidenced experimentally and confirmed by optical simulations. The opportunity to fabricate and tune such an assembly of plasmonic particles on transparent substrate opens interesting perspectives for not only fundamental photonics but also potential optical applications.  相似文献

A study was conducted of the health problems of two groups of data entry clerks drawn from 39 government agencies’ pools. One group was formed of 182 clerks who worked in large pools, whereas the second one was composed of 87 clerks in small pools. The clerks who worked in large pools were characterized by a higher rate of occurrence of symptoms of mental health problems (measured by the Ilfeld Index), as well as a higher degree of use of sleeping pills and tranquilizers, than those who worked in the small pools. The effect of pool size was indirect and originated from the more intense job Stressors found in the large pools: greater pressure to increase output, more fragmented work, and bureaucratic work relationships. A more extensive analysis showed the lack of recognition and mobility as a characteristic of all work pools and a major factor of mental health problems.  相似文献

A collection of sets on a ground set U n (U n ?=?{1,2,...,n}) closed under intersection and containing U n is known as a Moore family. The set of Moore families for a fixed n is in bijection with the set of Moore co-families (union-closed families containing the empty set) denoted $\mathbb{M}_n$ . In this paper, we propose a recursive definition of the set of Moore co-families on U n . Then we apply this decomposition result to compute a lower bound on $|\mathbb M_n|$ as a function of $|\mathbb M_{n-1}|$ , the Dedekind numbers and the binomial coefficients. These results follow the work carried out in [1] to enumerate the number of Moore families on U 7.  相似文献

We propose a new estimation method for the characterization of the Hodgkin-Huxley formalism. This method is an alternative technique to the classical estimation methods associated with voltage clamp measurements. It uses voltage clamp type recordings, but is based on the differential evolution algorithm. The parameters of an ionic channel are estimated simultaneously, such that the usual approximations of classical methods are avoided and all the parameters of the model, including the time constant, can be correctly optimized. In a second step, this new estimation technique is applied to the automated tuning of neuromimetic analog integrated circuits designed by our research group. We present a tuning example of a fast spiking neuron, which reproduces the frequency-current characteristics of the reference data, as well as the membrane voltage behavior. The final goal of this tuning is to interconnect neuromimetic chips as neural networks, with specific cellular properties, for future theoretical studies in neuroscience.  相似文献

Data collected in atom probe tomography have to be carefully analysed in order to give reliable composition data accurately and precisely positioned in the probed volume. Indeed, the large analysed surfaces of recent instruments require reconstruction methods taking into account not only the tip geometry but also accurate knowledge of geometrical projection parameters. This is particularly crucial in the analysis of multilayers materials or planar interfaces. The current work presents a simulation model that enables extraction of the two main projection features as a function of the tip and atom probe instrumentation geometries. Conversely to standard assumptions, the image compression factor and the field factor vary significantly during the analysis. An improved reconstruction method taking into account the intrinsic shape of a sample containing planar features is proposed to overcome this shortcoming.  相似文献
