An approximate solution of the film model in presence of volatile liquid reactants is presented for the case of a general van de Vusse-like reaction scheme and general power-law reaction rates. The solution is obtained in a closed-form and simply requires the numerical solution of a system of nonlinear equations. The developed approximate solution is valid for any reaction regime and any number of reactions taking place within the liquid him. The application to a CSTR is discussed; this also serves as a test of the accuracy of the approximate solution carried out by comparison with the complete film model solved via the orthogonal collocation method. The numerical studies show that the approximate solution can be used with confidence for the usual encountered rate laws and that the volatility of the liquid reactants affects the performance of the CSTR mostly at the intermediate value of the Halt a number.  相似文献

In this paper a novel CAD methodology for yield enhancement of VLSI CMOS circuits including random device variations is presented. The methodology is based on a preliminary characterization of the technological process by means of specific test chips for accurate mismatch modeling. To this purpose, a very accurate position-dependent parameter mismatch model has been formulated and extracted. Finally a CAD tool implementing this model has been developed. The tool is fully integrated in an environment of existing commercial tools and it has been experimented in the STMicroelectronics Flash Memory CAD Group.As an example of application, a bandgap reference circuit has been considered and the results obtained from simulations have been compared with experimental data. Furthermore, the methodology has been applied to the read path of a complex Flash Memory produced by STMicroelectronics, consisting of about 16,000 MOSFETs. Measurements of electrical performances have confirmed the validity of the methodology, and the accuracy of both the mismatch model and the simulation flow.  相似文献

In the last few years, it has become increasingly apparent that the biochemistry of PAF (platelet-activating factor) and that of arachidonic acid are interrelated in a number of inflammatory cells. Experiments presented here further point out that arachidonic acid plays a crucial role in the catabolism and biosynthesis of PAF. In addition, they suggest that the same phospholipid molecular species may serve as a source for both arachidonic acid and 1-alkyl-2-lyso-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine during cell activation. Finally, they reveal that there may be common regulatory mechanisms for the biosynthesis of PAF and arachidonic acid metabolites. Taken together, studies examining the relationship between PAF and arachidonic acid suggest it may be difficult to consider the biochemistry of PAF without considering arachidonic acid metabolism and vice versa. Adsorption of para-hydrogen on the surface of graphite pre-plated with a single atomic layer of krypton, is studied theoretically by means of path integral ground state Monte Carlo simulations. We compute energetics and density profiles of para-hydrogen, and determine the structure of the adsorbed film for various coverages. Results show that there are two thermodynamically stable monolayer phases of p-H2, both solid; one is commensurate with the krypton layer, and has coverage θ ≈ 0.0636 Å−2; the other is incommensurate, has coverage θ ≈ 0.0716 Å−2, and is compressible up to θ ≈ 0.0769 Å−2. No evidence is observed of a liquid phase at T:0 for intermediate coverages. These results are qualitatively similar to what is seen for p-H2 on bare graphite. The interleukin 28B (IL28B) rs12979860 polymorphism is associated with treatment outcome in hepatitis C virus (HCV) genotype 1 and 4 patients. Its association with the histological features of chronic hepatitis C and disease severity needs further clarifications. To assess the correlation between IL28B genotype, HCV genotype and liver biopsy findings in untreated patients.

Materials and Methods

Pre-treatment liver biopsies from 335 HCV Caucasian patients (59% males, age 50 years) enrolled in the MIST study were staged for fibrosis and inflammation according to the METAVIR and the Ishak scoring systems; steatosis was dichotomized as <5% or ≥5%. IL28B was typed by Taqman Single Nucleotide Polymorphism (SNP) genotyping assay. HCV genotype was 1 in 151 (45%), 2 in 99 (30%), 3 in 50 (15%) and 4 in 35 (10%) patients. IL28B genotype was CC in 117 (34%), CT in 166 (49%) and TT in 52 (15%). At univariate analysis, the IL28B CC genotype was associated with severe portal inflammation in HCV-1 patients (CC vs. CT/TT: 86% vs. 63%, p = 0.005), severe lobular inflammation in HCV-2 patients (CC vs. CT/TT: 44% vs. 23%, p = 0.03), and less fatty infiltration in HCV-1 patients (CC vs. CT/TT: 72% vs. 51%, p = 0.02). Despite the lack of any association between IL28B and fibrosis stage, in HCV-3 patients IL28B CC correlated with METAVIR F3–F4 (CC vs. CT/TT: 74% vs. 26%, p = 0.05). At multivariate analysis, the genotype CC remained associated with severe portal inflammation in HCV-1, only (Odds Ratio (OR): 95% Confidence Interval (CI): 3.24 (1.23–8.51)). IL28B genotype is associated with the histological features of chronic hepatitis C in a HCV genotype dependent manner, with CC genotype being independently associated with severe portal inflammation.  相似文献

Macroporous TiO2 (anatase) thin films are fabricated by an all low‐temperature process in which substrates are dip‐coated in suspensions of mixed anatase nanoparticles and polystyrene beads, and the templating agents are removed by ultraviolet (UV) irradiation at a temperature below 50 °C. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Raman spectroscopy show that the templating polymer beads are removed by UV irradiation combined with the photocatalytic activity of TiO2. X‐Ray diffraction reveals that nanoparticle growth is negligible in UV irradiated films, while nanoparticle size increases by almost 10 times in calcined films that are prepared for comparison. The macroporous films are prepared on FTO‐(fluorine‐doped tin oxide) coated glass and ITO (indium tin oxide) coated flexible plastics and thereby used as working electrodes. In both cases, the films are electrochemically addressable, and cyclic voltammetry is consistent with the response of bulk TiO2 for calcined films and of nanoscale‐TiO2 for UV‐irradiated films.  相似文献

There is growing evidence that a large proportion of upper digestive tract tumors are ascribable to heavy alcohol drinking and tobacco consumption. The cancer-promoting action of ethanol is mediated by acetaldehyde, its first metabolite, also derived from the bacterial oxidation of alcohol by the oral microflora, classified by the International Agency for the Research on Cancer as a carcinogen. Acetaldehyde is also one of the major components of tobacco smoke. These findings suggest two different strategies to decrease the risk of alcohol-related oral cancers: the reduction of the levels of alcohol-derived acetaldehyde in saliva and the reduction of oral bacterial flora. Therefore, the aim of our study was to develop and characterize some buccal tablet formulations containing both 20 mg L-cysteine hydrochloride (able to chemically neutralize acetaldehyde) and 10 mg chlorhexidine diacetate (well-known antiseptic compound active against a large spectrum of oral microbes). One of these formulations, chosen on the basis of its favourable delivery kinetics of the active principles, was demonstrated to be able to reduce acetaldehyde concentration in an in vitro system and to lower its salivary levels in volunteers after ethanol contact. Our findings support the hypothesis that the application of buccal devices containing cysteine and chlorhexidine could reduce salivary acetaldehyde levels and thus the incidence of upper gastrointestinal cancer in drinkers and smokers.  相似文献

A comparative study of the self‐assembly at a variety of surfaces of a dithiophene rotaxane 1 ?β‐CD and its corresponding dumbbell, 1, by means of atomic force microscopy (AFM) imaging and scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) imaging on the micrometer and nanometer scale, respectively. The dumbbell is found to have a greater propensity to form ordered supramolecular assemblies, as a result of π–π interactions between dithiophenes belonging to adjacent molecules, which are hindered in the rotaxane. The fine molecular structure determined by STM was compared to that obtained by molecular modelling. The optical properties of both rotaxane and dumbbell in the solid state were investigated by steady‐state and time‐resolved photoluminescence (PL) experiments on spin‐cast films and diluted solutions. The comparison between the optical features of the threaded and unthreaded systems reveals an effective role of encapsulation in reducing aggregation and exciton migration for the rotaxanes with respect to the dumbbells, thus leading to higher PL quantum efficiency and preserved single‐molecule photophysics for longer times after excitation in the threaded oligomers.  相似文献
