The aim of this research was to monitor transparency in inland water bodies from water reflectance field measurements and also from high and medium spatial resolution sensors. The most suitable band to measure transparency was determined by sampling irradiance, water reflectance and transparency at different depths. The results of this sampling show that the wavelength range 520–600 nm is the most suitable band for measuring transparency. Reflectance in this band was regressed against transparency field data to derive an empirical equation for transparency estimation. This equation was assessed using data from Landsat Thematic Mapper (TM) images from 1992 and Daedalus 1268 Airborne Thematic Mapper (ATM) data from 1997. The difference in the errors in the data observed between the two dates was attributed to the fact that in 1997 the sampling time was less than 3 h (1.5 h before and after the acquisition of the image), which allowed similar solar illumination conditions to be maintained, while in 1992 the sampling time was much longer. Once the equation was verified, water transparency monitoring was performed for a set of satellite images obtained from 1984 to 2000. The maps show that transparency in the water bodies responds to seasonal trends. Furthermore, this analysis enabled trophic state and Ecological Quality Ratio (EQR) transparency maps to be generated, which are very useful for the management of water bodies.  相似文献

This paper presents a stability analysis of the interaction between a human and a linear moving Force Augmenting Device (FAD). The analysis employs a mathematical model of the human arm, the FAD and their interaction. As a depart from past works, this article presents a stability analysis considering time-delays in the human model. A key ingredient in the analysis is the use of the Rekasius substitution for replacing the time-delay terms. It is proved that the human machine interaction is stable when the human model has no delays. When delays are considered in the human model, the analysis provides an upper bound for the time-delays preserving a stable interaction. Numerical simulations allow to assess the human-FAD interaction. An experiment is performed with a laboratory prototype, where a human operator lifts a load. It is observed that the human machine interaction is stable and the human operator is able to move the load to a desired position by experiencing very little effort.  相似文献

Image acquisition technology is improving very fast from a performance point of view. However, there are physical restrictions that can only be solved using software processing strategies. This is particularly true in the case of super resolution (SR) methodologies. SR techniques have found a fertile application field in airborne and space optical acquisition platforms. Single-frame SR methods may be advantageous for some remote-sensing platforms and acquisition time conditions. The contributions of this article are basically two: (1) to present an overview of single-frame SR methods, making a comparative analysis of their performance in different and challenging remote-sensing scenarios, and (2) to propose a new single-frame SR taxonomy, and a common validation strategy. Finally, we should emphasize that, on the one hand, this is the first time, to the best of our knowledge, that such a review and analysis of single SR methods is made in the framework of remote sensing, and, on the other hand, that the new single-frame SR taxonomy is aimed at shedding some light when classifying some types of single-frame SR methods.  相似文献

This article analyzes the trade-off between `caution' and `intensity' in the use of the control variable in a one-state one-control dynamic stochastic quadratic linear optimization problem with discount factor. It studies the effects that changes in uncertainty of the control parameter have on the optimal first period response of the control variable, showing that the trade-off between `caution' and `intensity' depends on the timing of the uncertainty. Given an increase in current uncertainty and an equal increase in future uncertainty, caution will always prevail over intensity. Moreover, the prevalence of caution will be enlarged as the increase in future uncertainty moves farther away into the future, while this prevalence will be reduced as the increase in future uncertainty expands into the future. Finally, for the infinite horizon case, caution is the optimal policy response.  相似文献

Treatment of prostate cancer patients with antiandrogens is initially successful, though the therapy often becomes refractory over the time. This mechanism is not fully understood, but the presence of androgen receptor (AR) mutant forms which are activated by antiandrogens and other endogenous ligands, and overexpression of the receptor have been suggested. In an attempt to explain the molecular basis for agonicity and antagonicity in the androgen receptor, and the changes on biological activity of subtle modifications at the ligand and receptor (mutations) level, molecular dynamics simulations were performed on the androgen receptor wild type (WT), and T877A and W741 mutant forms, complexed with several non-steroidal androgens. The stabilizing role of residues from helices 3, 5, 11 and 12 was observed in non-steroidal androgens R-3, S-1, and R-bicalutamide and hydroxyflutamide in resistant mutations. In the AR WT antiandrogen R-bicalutamide complex, destabilization of M895 by both W741 and the sulfonyl linkage of the ligand may be responsible for reported antagonism. Changes in the ligand or mutations alleviating this effect were observed to stabilize the receptor in the active conformation, thus developing resistance to R-bicalutamide. The results presented provide a plausible explanation for the molecular basis of agonicity and antagonicity in the androgen receptor, and complement previous studies using static crystal structures, incorporating for the first time protein dynamics into the analysis. Thus, our results provide a valuable framework for the structure-based design of improved antiandrogens.  相似文献

As the amount of streaming audio and video available to World Wide Web users grows, tools for analyzing and indexing this content will become increasingly important. Frequently, knowledge management applications and information portals synthesize unstructured text information from the Web, intranets and partner sites. Given this context, we crawl a statistically significant number of Web pages, detect those that contain streaming media links, crawl the media links to extract associated meta-data, then use the crawl data to build a resource list for Web media. This study reports on the development and validation of measurement scales to study the different roles fulfilled by ICT coordinators. Based on a review of the literature, a 24 item questionnaire was constructed and administered to a sample of 177 Flemish ICT coordinators working in primary education. Exploratory factor analysis revealed a four-factor solution: the ICT coordinator as a planner, a budgeter, a technician, and an educationalist. Qualitative data corroborated these roles. This study provides a quantitative measure of the different roles assumed by ICT coordinators in practice. The implications of our findings for schools, researchers and policy makers are discussed.  相似文献
