Following development of deep‐fried carrot chips, a high provitamin A carotenoid‐snack, consumer acceptances for color, uniformity, overall appearance, odor, saltiness, sweetness, overall flavor, crispiness, oiliness, overall texture, and overall acceptability of the product were evaluated. Eighty‐nine consumer panelists consisting of Americans from the Plains states of the United States (n = 45) and Southeast Asians (n = 44), males and females,19–45 years, participated in this study. Color, uniformity, and odor were rated as good. Saltiness and sweetness were rated as nearly about right. Crispiness was rated as good, and oiliness as slightly oily. Generally, the product was acceptable to both types of consumer panelists, American and Southeast Asian, as shown by their ratings on overall appearance, overall flavor, overall texture, and overall acceptability. Using specific dystrophin antibodies directed against a conserved C-terminal sequence, we demonstrated that dystrophin of fish white muscle was quickly degraded by 50% within 24h and by 100% within 2 days, in parallel with titin cleavage and alpha-actinin release from Z-disks. These changes were accompanied by sarcolemma detachment from the myofibers in costameres (the structures containing dystrophin) and Z-disks weakening. For muscle stored during 2 to 6 mo before thawing, total dystrophin disappearance was observed at 4°C in <8h. The COVERT job shop dispatching rule was tested extensively twenty years ago with impressive results, however, since then it has been included in only one comparative analysis with other sequencing rules, and, reported instances of its application have been infrequent. In this paper, the COVERT rule is examined in detail relative to its applicability, its sensitivity to various operating parameters and performance measures, and its performance compared to several other sequencing rules including truncated SPT rules, dynamic slack rules and modified duedate rules. The performance of COVERT is examined for a variety of tardiness measures. The examination is conducted within the context of a simulation model of a machine-constrained job shop with serial jobs and random routings. The results indicate that COVERT performs well as a sequencing rule and in most instances was superior to the other sequencing rules tested both directly and across varying degrees of due-date tightness. 相似文献

In this paper, we examine and quantify the effects of introducing new processing flexibility in the rapidly changing environment of printed circuit board (PCB) assembly. Specifically, we perform experiments designed to establish the benefits and determine the limitations associated with the introduction of routeing flexibility. We examine system behaviour as batch sizes are reduced in an environment characterized by moderate set-up requirements. We further demonstrate that the performance of flexible routeing policies in this environment is adversely affected by larger batch sizes and that the introduction of routeing flexibility leads to improved system performance in small batch assembly. 相似文献

Five spring cultivars and one winter barley cultivar have been assessed for aspects of malting quality following four different steeping regimes. There were significant effects of cultivar and steeping regime for all characters and cultivar X steeping regime interaction for germination rate and hot water extract. Moisture content after steep was the best guide to the optimum steeping regime. Malting quality was best predicted, in genotypes which germinated rapidly, by determining grain hardness following steeping and 24 hrs germination. 相似文献
