The challenges for a reliable operation of electrical power system have increased due to the presence of multi‐distributed generation units (DGs) in the distribution systems in order to meet the increase of the load demand. Detection of unintentional islanding situation is very important as non‐detection of islanding situation could result in a cascaded failure of the system. If the islanding situation remains undetected, the instability in the islanded part can lead to a complete failure of the electrical power system. This paper introduces a new passive scheme for islanding detection, which is suitable for multi‐distributed generation units based on rotating machines. The proposed method is based on the measurements of the system voltage and frequency to compute two indices called the islanding index and harmonics index. The islanding index is the main index used to discriminate and identify the islanding situation. However, the harmonics index in conjunction with a strategy called speed reduction strategy assists the islanding index to discriminate between islanding situation in case of a close power match and system disturbances. The simulation studies were conducted in MATLAB/SIMULINK environment, and various cases have been considered, such as normal operation, islanding operation, sudden load change, DG tripping, separation of some DG units, faults, etc. The novelty of the proposed strategy is that it provides fast detection and has zero nondetection zone compared with the existing detection methods. Moreover, the proposed strategy has no effect on the power quality, and the maximum detection time is almost 350 ms at a close power match. The results indicate that the proposed scheme is successful in discrimination of the islanding conditions from other grid disturbances, revealing its great potential to be able to detect islanding events. Finally, the proposed method is applied only for rotating machine based DGs, such as wind turbines. Digital signal processing of electroencephalography (EEG) data is now widely utilized in various applications, including motor imagery classification, seizure detection and prediction, emotion classification, mental task classification, drug impact identification and sleep state classification. With the increasing number of recorded EEG channels, it has become clear that effective channel selection algorithms are required for various applications. Guided Whale Optimization Method (Guided WOA), a suggested feature selection algorithm based on Stochastic Fractal Search (SFS) technique, evaluates the chosen subset of channels. This may be used to select the optimum EEG channels for use in Brain-Computer Interfaces (BCIs), the method for identifying essential and irrelevant characteristics in a dataset, and the complexity to be eliminated. This enables (SFS-Guided WOA) algorithm to choose the most appropriate EEG channels while assisting machine learning classification in its tasks and training the classifier with the dataset. The widespread use of biomaterials to support or replace body parts is increasingly threatened by the risk of implant-associated infections. In the quest for finding novel anti-infective biomaterials, there generally has been a one-sided focus on biomaterials with direct antibacterial properties, which leads to excessive use of antibacterial agents, compromised host responses, and unpredictable effectiveness in vivo. This review sheds light on how host immunomodulation, rather than only targeting bacteria, can endow biomaterials with improved anti-infective properties. How antibacterial surface treatments are at risk to be undermined by biomaterial features that dysregulate the protection normally provided by critical immune cell subsets, namely, neutrophils and macrophages, is discussed. Accordingly, how the precise modification of biomaterial surface biophysical cues, or the incorporation of immunomodulatory drug delivery systems, can render biomaterials with the necessary immune-compatible and immune-protective properties to potentiate the host defense mechanisms is reviewed. Within this context, the protective role of host defense peptides, metallic particles, quorum sensing inhibitors, and therapeutic adjuvants is discussed. The highlighted immunomodulatory strategies may lay a foundation to develop anti-infective biomaterials, while mitigating the increasing threat of antibacterial drug resistance. 相似文献

This work describes the use of a multilevel Plackett-Burman design (PB) for the creation of a calibration set for partial least square regression (PLS). The PB calibration set was compared to a collinear analogue by testing these two PLS models for the analysis of six polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). These compounds were analyzed in micellar media by synchronous fluorescence after determination of the experimental conditions (choice of surfactant, analytical conditions such as deltalambda, step, and scan range). The external validation shows that the collinear set is inappropriate to quantify PAH in real samples, but the PB calibration set affords optimal results. 相似文献

In this paper a multi-scale numerical model for simulating the mechanical behavior of biaxial weft knitted fabrics produced based on 1×1 rib structure is presented. Fabrics were produced on a modern flat knitting machine using polyester as stitch yarns and nylon as straight yarns. A macro constitutive equation was presented to model the fabric mechanical behavior as a continuum material. User defined material subroutines were provided to implement the constitutive behavior in Abaqus software. The constitutive equation needs remarkable tensile tests on the fabric as the inputs. To solve this drawbacks meso scale modeling of the fabric was used to predict stress–strain curves of the fabric in three different directions (course, wale and 45°). In these simulations only the yarn properties are needed. To evaluate the accuracy of the proposed macro and meso models, fabric tensile behavior in 22.5 and 67.5° directions were simulated by the calibrated macro model and compared with experimental results. Spherical deformation was also simulated by the multi scale model and compared with experimental results. The results showed that the multi-scale modeling can successfully predict the tensile and spherical deformation of the biaxial weft knitted fabric with least required experiments. Due to their unique optical properties, diamonds are the most valued gemstones. However, beyond the sparkle, diamonds have a number of unique properties. Their extreme hardness gives them outstanding performance as abrasives and cutting tools. Similar to many materials, their nanometer‐sized form has yet other unique properties. Nanodiamonds are very inert but still can be functionalized on the surface. Additionally, they can be made in very small sizes and a narrow size distribution. Nanodiamonds can also host very stable fluorescent defects. Since they are protected in the crystal lattice, they never bleach. These defects can also be utilized for nanoscale sensing since they change their optical properties, for example, based on temperature or magnetic fields in their surroundings. In this Review, in vivo applications are focused upon. To this end, how different diamond materials are made and how this affects their properties are discussed first. Next, in vivo biocompatibility studies are reviewed. Finally, the reader is introduced to in vivo applications of diamonds.
