The stability of metal layers on semiconductors is a key issue for the device electrical performances. Therefore, the reliability of SiC/Ti/Pt/Au system was investigated using storage steady-stress testing, AES (Auger Electron Spectrometry), and SIMS (Secondary Ions Mass Spectrometry) analysis. The study was conducted on different patterns for gate and interconnection structure to underline the different reliability problems. Auger and SIMS analysis showed important modifications in the three-metal structure without reactions with the SiC substrate. The resistance degradation was assigned to interdiffusion phenomena. It was analyzed with a diffusion-controlled model. Activation energies and mean time to failure (MTF) were calculated for a failure criterion defined as a 10% increase of the resistance. Finally, the different rules of the metallization degradation in MESFET behaviours for interconnections and gate were discussed.  相似文献

The alcoholysis process requires high activity catalysts for biodiesel production. Heterogeneous catalysts have been proven to possess highly active nature and are environment-friendly. The present article emphasizes on various types of solid base catalysts that have been used in the recent past for the production of biodiesel by transesterification of oils. The parameters and conditions affecting the transesterification reaction and biodiesel yield have also been mentioned in the article. Heterogeneous catalysts have the capability to be recycled for many runs in the process without greatly abating the biodiesel yield. Also, such catalysts possess noncorrosive nature, thus making the biodiesel safe to be used in engine without any damage. The exploitation of waste materials as catalysts would reduce the overall production cost of biodiesel. Calcium-based catalysts in the reviewed literature have shown promising outcomes for the future use and would make the process economical for large-scale industrial applications.  相似文献

In this paper, reduced nonlinear refinery models are developed by generating and using input-output data from a process simulator. In particular, rigorous process models of continuous catalytic reformer (CCR) and naphtha splitter units are used for generating the data. To deal with complexity associated with large amounts of data, that is usually available in the refineries, a disaggregation-aggregation based approach is presented. The data is split (disaggregation) into smaller subsets and reduced artificial neural network (ANN) models are obtained for each of the subset. These ANN models are then combined (aggregation) to obtain an ANN model which represents all the data originally generated. The disaggregation step can be carried out within a parallel computing platform. Refinery optimization studies are carried out to demonstrate the applicability and the usefulness of the proposed model reduction approach.  相似文献

Soil aquifer treatment (SAT) using primary effluent (PE) is an attractive option for wastewater treatment and reuse in many developing countries with no or minimal wastewater treatment. One of the main limitations of SAT of PE is rapid clogging of the infiltration basin due to high suspended solid concentrations. Some pre-treatment of PE before infiltration is likely to reduce this limitation, improve performance of SAT and help to implement this technology effectively. The effects of three pre-treatment options namely sedimentation (SED), coagulation (COAG) and horizontal roughing filtration (HRF) on SAT were analyzed by conducting laboratory-scale batch and soil column experiments. The sedimentation and coagulation pre-treatments led to less head loss development and reduction of clogging effect. The head loss development in soil column using PE + COAG and PE + SED was reduced by 85 and 72%, respectively, compared to PE alone without any pretreatment. The overall dissolved organic carbon (DOC) removal of pre-treatments and soil column collectively were 34, 44, 51 and 43.5% for PE without any pre-treatment, PE + SED, PE + COAG and PE + HRF, respectively. Coagulation pre-treatment of PE was found to be the most effective option in terms of suspended solids, DOC and nitrogen removal. Sedimentation pre-treatment of PE could be attractive where land is relatively less expensive for the construction of sedimentation basins.  相似文献

We investigate self-excited lateral vibration of a pipe due to an internal flow. The stability boundary of fluid velocity is expressed in terms of the system parameters, such as, pipe material density and rigidity, and fluid density, etc. To maximize the fluid transport efficiency, it is necessary to maximize the flow velocity while minimizing the lateral vibration of the pipe. We use the integral minimum principle of Pontryagin to find the optimum flow velocity for minimum pipe vibration. The results are illustrated by numerical simulation.  相似文献

BACKGROUND/AIMS: During the healing of corneal epithelial wounds with limbal involvement, conjunctival epithelium often migrates across the denuded limbus to cover the corneal surface. It is believed that, over a period of time, conjunctival epithelium covering the cornea assumes characteristics of corneal epithelium by a process referred to as conjunctival transdifferentiation. The purpose of this study was to examine, clinically, the fate of conjunctival epithelial cells covering the cornea and to assess the healing of corneal epithelial wounds when the conjunctival epithelium was removed or actively prevented from crossing the limbus and extending onto the cornea. METHODS: 10 patients with conjunctivalisation of the cornea were followed for an average of 7.5 months. Five patients in this group had their conjunctival epithelium removed from the corneal surface and allowed to heal from the remaining intact corneal epithelium. In another four patients with corneal epithelial defects, the conjunctival epithelium was actively prevented from crossing the limbus by mechanically scraping it off. RESULTS: The area of cornea covered by conjunctival epithelium appeared thin, irregular, attracted new vessels and was prone to recurrent erosions. Conjunctivalisation of the visual axis affected vision. Removal of conjunctival epithelium from the cornea allowed cells of corneal epithelial phenotype to cover the denuded area with alleviation of symptoms and improvement of vision. It was also established that migration of conjunctival epithelium onto corneal surface could be anticipated by close monitoring of the healing of corneal epithelial wounds, and prevented by scraping off conjunctival epithelium before it reached the limbus. CONCLUSION: This study shows that there is little clinical evidence to support the concept that conjunctival transdifferentiation per se, occurs in humans. "Replacement" of conjunctival epithelium by corneal epithelial cells may be an important mechanism by which conjunctival "transdifferentiation" may occur. In patients with partial stem cell deficiency this approach can be a useful and effective alternative to partial limbal transplantation, as is currently practised.  相似文献

The wind and solar energy are omnipresent, freely available, and environmental friendly. The wind energy systems may not be technically viable at all sites because of low wind speeds and being more unpredictable than solar energy. The combined utilization of these renewable energy sources are therefore becoming increasingly attractive and are being widely used as alternative of oil-produced energy. Economic aspects of these renewable energy technologies are sufficiently promising to include them for rising power generation capability in developing countries. A renewable hybrid energy system consists of two or more energy sources, a power conditioning equipment, a controller and an optional energy storage system. These hybrid energy systems are becoming popular in remote area power generation applications due to advancements in renewable energy technologies and substantial rise in prices of petroleum products. Research and development efforts in solar, wind, and other renewable energy technologies are required to continue for, improving their performance, establishing techniques for accurately predicting their output and reliably integrating them with other conventional generating sources. The aim of this paper is to review the current state of the design, operation and control requirement of the stand-alone PV solar–wind hybrid energy systems with conventional backup source i.e. diesel or grid. This Paper also highlights the future developments, which have the potential to increase the economic attractiveness of such systems and their acceptance by the user.  相似文献

Abstract—In this article, a firefly algorithm is proposed for load frequency control of multi-area power systems. Initially a two equal area non-reheat thermal system is considered and the optimum gains of the proportional integral/proportional integral derivative controller are optimized employing the firefly algorithm technique. The superiority of the proposed approach is demonstrated by comparing the results with some recently published techniques such as genetic algorithm, bacteria foraging optimization algorithm, differential evolution, particle swarm optimization, hybrid bacteria foraging optimization algorithm-particle swarm optimization, and Ziegler–Nichols-based controllers for the same interconnected power system. Further, the proposed approach is extended to a three-unequal-area thermal system considering generation rate constraint and governor dead-band. Investigations reveal on comparison that proportional integral derivative controller provides much better response compared to integral and proportional integral controllers. Additionally, robustness analysis is carried out by varying the operating load condition and time constants of speed governor, turbine, and inertia constant in the range of +50 to –50% from their nominal values as well as the size and position of step load perturbation to demonstrate the robustness of the proposed firefly algorithm optimized proportional integral derivative controller.  相似文献

The paper discusses the experimental optimisation of both chemical and mechanical cleaning procedures for a flat-sheet submerged membrane bioreactor fed with municipal wastewater. Fouling was evaluated by means of the critical flux concept, which was experimentally measured by short-term flux-stepping tests. By keeping constant most important parameters of the biological process (MLSS, sludge age), two different chemical cleaning protocols (2,000 mg L(-1) NaOCl and 200 mg L(-1) NaOCl) were applied with different frequency and, after approximately 9 months of operation, the criticality threshold was determined under different values of SAD(m) (specific aeration demand per unit of membrane surface area). The weaker and more frequent chemical cleaning regime (200 mg L(-1), monthly) proved much more effective than the stronger and less frequent strategy (2,000 mg L(-1), once every three months). The improvement of performances was quantified by two TMP-based parameters, the fouling rate and the DeltaTMP (difference between TMP values during the increasing and decreasing phase of hysteresis). The best performing configuration was then checked over a longer period by running four long-term trials showing an exponential trend of the sub-critical fouling rate with the imposed flux.  相似文献
