The problem of finding the optimal correspondence between two sets of geometric entities or features is known to be NP-hard in the worst case. This problem appears in many real scenarios such as fingerprint comparisons, image matching and global localization of mobile robots. The inherent complexity of the problem can be avoided by suboptimal solutions, but these could fail with high noise or corrupted data. The correspondence problem has an interesting equivalent formulation in finding a maximum clique in an association graph. We have developed a novel algorithm to solve the correspondence problem between two sets of features based on an efficient solution to the Maximum Clique Problem using bit parallelism. It outperforms an equivalent non bit parallel algorithm in a number of experiments with simulated and real data from two different correspondence problems. This article validates for the first time, to the best of our knowledge, that bit parallel optimization techniques can greatly reduce computational cost, thus making feasible the use of an exact solution in real correspondence search problems despite their inherent NP computational complexity.  相似文献

To apply the isotope dilution (ID) technique, it is necessary to grow the N2-fixing crop in a soil where the mineral N is labelled with15N. Normally the N2-fixing crop and a suitable non-N2-fixing control crop are grown in the same labelled soil and the15N enrichment of the control crop is assumed to be equal to the15N enrichment of the nitrogen (N) derived from the soil in the N2-fixing crop. In this case the proportion of unlabelled N being derived from the air via biological N2 fixation (BNF) in the N2-fixing crop will be proportional to the dilution of the enrichment of the N derived from the labelled soil.To label the soil, the technique most often used is to add a single addition of15N-labelled N fertilizer shortly before, at, or shortly after, the planting of the crops. Data in the literature clearly show that this technique results in a rapid fall in the15N enrichment of soil mineral N with time. Under these conditions, if the control and the N2-fixing crops have different patterns of N uptake from the soil they will inevitably obtain different15N enrichments in the soil-derived N. In this case the isotope dilution technique cannot be applied, or if it is, there will be an error introduced into, the estimate of the contribution of N derived from BNF.Several experiments are described which explore different strategies of application of the ID technique to attempt to attenuate the errors involved. The results suggest that it is wise to use slow-release forms of labelled N, or in some cases, multiple additions, to diminish temporal changes in the15N enrichment of soil mineral N. The use of several control crops produces a range of different estimates of the BNF contributions to the N2-fixing crops, and the extent of this range gives a measure of the accuracy of the estimates. Likewise the use of more than one15N enrichment technique in the same experiment will also give a range of estimates which can be treated similarly. The potential of other techniques, such as sequential harvesting of both control and test crops, are also discussed.  相似文献

Many, but not all, legumes of tropical origin, transport fixed N from the nodules to the shoot tissue in the form of ureides, and the mineral N absorbed from the soil is principally transported in the form of nitrate. The analysis of stem xylem sap, or hot-water extracts of stem tissue, for ureide and nitrate has been used successfully to quantify BNF contributions to several grain legumes and more recently to some shrub and forage legumes. The objective of this study was to investigate the application of this technique to the quantification of the contribution of BNF to the forage legume Desmodium ovalifolium by comparing the relative ureide abundance (RUA) of stem extracts of this plant with simultaneous estimates of BNF obtained using the 15N isotope dilution technique. The first experiment was performed in pots of soil, taken from a grazing study, amended with 15N-labelled organic matter at four different application rates. The ureide concentration in the stem extracts reflected the changes in BNF activity during plant growth and the RUA was closely correlated with the proportion of N derived from BNF as determined from the 15N technique (r 2 = 0.86 and 0.88 for inoculated and non-inoculated plants, respectively). The use of a calibration curve derived from a previous study where the same legume was fed increasing concentrations of 15N labelled nitrate in sand/vermiculite culture, resulted in an over-estimation of the BNF contribution which may have been due to a significant uptake of ammonium from this acidic soil. The second experiment was performed in field plots and a good agreement was found between the estimates of BNF derived from using the ureide and 15N dilution techniques at two harvests six months apart. The uptake of soil N by the D. ovalifoliumand two forage grasses (Brachiaria humidicola and Panicum maximum) was estimated using an in situ soil core technique, and, while the uptake of N by the grasses was successfully estimated, this technique underestimated the N derived from the soil by the legume as determined by the ureide and 15N dilution techniques.  相似文献

Nitro‐fatty acids (NO2‐FA) have been widely studied with regard to their identification, structural characterization, and biological actions. NO2‐FA could also be present endogenously esterified to phospholipids (PL), and NO2‐PL were already detected in cardiac mitochondria from diabetic rats and cardiomyoblasts subjected to starvation. However, the biological actions of NO2‐PL have been overlooked. In this study, we evaluate the antioxidant and anti‐inflammatory potential of the nitrated 1‐palmitoyl‐2‐oleoyl‐sn‐glycero‐3‐phosphocholine (POPC) formed in vitro by incubation with NO2BF4, in a well‐recognized mimetic model of nitroxidative stress. Nitrated POPC showed anti‐radical ability to reduce both 2,2‐diphenyl‐1‐picrylhydrazyl radical (DPPH?) (IC20 = 225 ± 4 μg/mL; Trolox equivalent (TE) = 86 ± 6 μmol Trolox/g lipid) and 2,2′‐azino‐bis‐3‐ethylbenzothiazoline‐6‐sulfonic acid radical cation (ABTS?+) (IC50 = 124 ± 2 μg/mL; TE = 152 ± 9 μmol Trolox/g lipid). Also, higher lag times were achieved in oxygen radical absorbance capacity (ORAC) assay for nitrated POPC, indicating a faster reaction with oxygen‐derived radicals (TE = 1.03 ± 0.22 and TE = 1.30 ± 0.16 mmol Trolox/g lipid for nonmodified and nitrated POPC, respectively). Nitrated POPC showed the ability to inhibit lipid oxidation induced by the hydroxyl radical generated under Fenton reaction conditions, monitored by electrospray ionization (ESI) mass spectrometry (MS) using phosphatidylcholine (PtdCho) liposomes as a model of cell membrane. Nitrated POPC showed anti‐inflammatory potential, as assessed by the inhibition of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) expression in RAW 264.7 macrophages activated by the Toll‐like receptor 4 (TLR4) agonist lipopolysaccharide (LPS) in a well‐described in vitro model of inflammation. Altogether, this study provides new clues regarding the antioxidant and anti‐inflammatory potential of nitrated POPC, which should be explored in depth.  相似文献

This paper reports on a system developed to support medical experts in the process of updating clinical guidelines by automatically suggesting new articles suitable to the domain under consideration. It follows a comprehensive process based on several consecutive steps in order to (i) identify which articles from the current guideline are eligible to be updated; (ii) retrieve and filter new related articles from medline; and (iii) select the most relevant resulting articles by applying a scoring algorithm. Extensive validation is based on a set of experiments on 40 guidelines from multiple medical domains. The analysis of results shows a promising prospect as indicated by recall values greater than 90%.  相似文献

A detailed analysis of the impact of a hysteretic quantizer on a multibit, Sigma-Delta modulator has been carried out in this paper. Both discrete-time and continuous-time modulators have been considered. A qualitative modeling of the hysteretic quantizer based on a hysteretic block followed by an ideal quantizer was proposed. Due to the hysteresis effect, the quantizer output signal is delayed and distorted with respect to the quantizer input signal, where the delay causes a phase-shift independent on the signal frequency. Yet, the effect of the hysteresis depends on the input signal amplitude. This model was validated by using system-level simulations for a second order, 3-bit, discrete-time Sigma-Delta modulator. A linear model for hysteresis was derived by assuming a narrow hysteresis cycle. The quantizer input signal plays a fundamental role in the discussion. In order to include this signal into the linear analysis some approximations are proposed. The quantizer output signal is decomposed by the use of the Fourier series analysis only into the in-phase and quadrature components (with respect to the input signal) whose Fourier series coefficients can be analytically calculated. A quantitative analysis for both a second order, 3-bit, DT and CT Sigma-Delta modulators including a hysteretic quantizer was carried out. For the CT modulator, finite GBW in amplifiers, excess loop delay, and a hysteretic quantizer were considered separately and combined. A good agreement with both system-level simulations and experimental results is found, despite the approximations considered for the quantizer input signal.  相似文献

Excessive intensification of dairy and beef cattle production systems in the industrialised countries has led to serious problems of pollution of water resources and the atmosphere. In order to develop an appropriate alternative, a few studies have been made by various research teams in Brazil, using low fertiliser inputs and modest animal stocking rates. The objective of this present study was to evaluate the effect of different stocking rates of beef cattle, and the introduction of a forage legume (Desmodium ovalifolium (Prain) Wall.), on the long-term sustainability of pastures of Brachiaria humidicola (Rendle) Schweick established in the Atlantic forest region of Brazil in the extreme south of the State of Bahia. Annual maintenance fertilisation was restricted to additions of 11 and 6 kg ha−1 of P and K, respectively (and no N). Live weight gain (LWG) of Zebu steers was evaluated for stocking rates of 2, 3 and 4 head ha−1 during six grazing periods from 1988 to 1997. Forage intake and the proportion of legume in the acquired ration was determined using steers fitted with oesophageal fistulae. The bolus samples were analysed manually in 1988–1989, and using the 13C natural abundance technique in 1995. There was no significant response of LWG to the presence of the legume in the acquired ration. LWG in the final grazing period (1995–1996) was similar to that recorded in 1988–1989 at all stocking rates, suggesting that this management regime resulted in long-term sustainable production even in the absence of the legume or of a N fertiliser input. This was confirmed by the soil fertility analyses for 1988 and 1997, where only levels of P showed a significant decrease. The net aerial primary productivity (NAPP) of the pasture was determined for 1995, the largest component being deposited litter (21–33 Mg DM ha−1 year−1), followed by forage intake (6.4–12.2 Mg DM ha−1 year−1).  相似文献

This paper describes BBMCW, a new efficient exact maximum clique algorithm tailored for large sparse graphs which can be bit-encoded directly into memory without a heavy performance penalty. These graphs occur in real-life problems when some form of locality may be exploited to reduce their scale. One such example is correspondence graphs derived from data association problems. The new algorithm is based on the bit-parallel kernel used by the BBMC family of published exact algorithms. BBMCW employs a new bitstring encoding that we denote ‘watched’, because it is reminiscent of the ‘watched literal’ technique used in satisfiability and other constraint problems. The new encoding reduces the number of spurious operations computed by the BBMC bit-parallel kernel in large sparse graphs. Moreover, BBMCW also improves on bound computation proposed in the literature for bit-parallel solvers. Experimental results show that the new algorithm performs better than prior algorithms over data sets of both real and synthetic sparse graphs. In the real data sets, the improvement in performance averages more than two orders of magnitude with respect to the state-of-the-art exact solver IncMaxCLQ.  相似文献

The zero tillage (ZT) system is used in a large area (>24 Mha) of crop production in Brazil. This management system can contribute to soil C sequestration, but many studies in other countries have registered greater nitrous oxide emissions under ZT compared to conventional tillage (CT), which may reduce greenhouse gas mitigation benefits. The aim of this study was to estimate the emission of N2O from cropping systems under conventional and zero tillage in an 18-year-old experiment conducted on a Rhodic Ferralsol in the South of Brazil. Fluxes of N2O were measured over two years using static-closed chambers in the two tillage systems with three crop rotations. Soil water filled pore space (%WFPS) and soil mineral N were monitored along with rainfall and air temperature. Estimates of N2O emissions were obtained by integrating the fluxes with time and also by applying the IPCC direct emission factor (EF1 = 1%) to the amounts of N added as fertilisers and returned as crop residues. Fluxes of N2O were relatively low, apart from a short period at the beginning of measurements. No relationship between N2O fluxes and %WFPS or mineral N were observed. Nitrous oxide emissions were not influenced either by tillage system or crop rotation. For the crop rotation receiving high rates of N fertiliser in the second year, field-measured N2O emissions were significantly underestimated by the IPCC emission factor 1 (EF1). For the other treatments measured N2O emissions fell within the EF1 uncertainty range, but always considerably lower than the EF1 estimate, which suggests IPCC EF1 overestimates true N2O emissions for the Ferralsol under evaluation.  相似文献
