Layered double hydroxides (LDH) are a class of readily synthesizable layered crystals that can be used as an alternative to the commonly used silicate crystals for the preparation of polymeric nanocomposites. In this work layered double hydroxide/polyamide 6 nanocomposites (LDH/PA6) were prepared from organo-modified LDH by melt processing. The anionic exchange capacity of LDH was varied in order to investigate its influence on the degree of exfoliation. LDH were dispersed by a twin screw micro-extruder at a variety of processing conditions. The nanocomposites were characterized by wide-angle X-ray diffraction (WAXD), small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS), transmission electron microscopy, dynamic scanning calorimetry, and thermogravimetric analysis. It was found that exfoliated nanocomposites were successfully prepared by melt processing with a low exchange capacity LDH, whereas residue tactoids were observed with a high exchange capacity LDH. Shear, together with the exchange capacity, seems to be the key factor for the delamination in LDH/PA6. No major change in the crystalline phase or in the rate of crystallization was observed in the nanocomposite as compared to the neat polymer. A reduction in the onset of thermal decomposition temperature was observed in PA6/LDH compared to neat PA6, likely due to a nucleophilic attack mechanism. The properties of this nanocomposite system are discussed with connections to the current understanding within the broader nanocomposite field. 相似文献

With the increased interest in thermoset resin nanocomposites, it is important to understand the effects of the material on nanoscale characteristics. In this study, a curing reaction of an epoxy resin, which contained 0.25, 0.50, or 1.00 wt % of multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs), at different heating rates was monitored by differential scanning calorimetry; cure kinetics were also evaluated to establish a relationship between crosslinking (network formation) and mechanical properties. MWCNT concentrations above 0.25 wt % favored crosslinking formation and decreased the activation energy (Ea) in the curing reaction. Examination of the kinetic mechanism suggests that the MWCNT locally restricted the spatial volume and favored the formation of nodular morphology in the resin, especially for high MWCNT concentrations. The influence of alkali metals on the Lewis acid sites of gamma-alumina has been studied with NMR and IR of adsorbed CO. The physical properties of the alumina are slightly changed by the addition of low alkali metal concentrations. Li and K are adsorbed selectively on tetrahedral Lewis Al3+ sites of the alumina surface. These effects on the tetrahedral cations are more marked with increasing molar concentration and ionic radius of the alkali metal added to alumina. This article presents an 8-channel system for capturing bioelectric signals and transmitting them by the ZigBee protocol. It is a small, portable system with optimised power supply so that it can be battery fed. One of its main advantages is its versatility, since it enables each channel to be configured, in a dynamic and individualised way. Proteomes are intricate. Typically, thousands of proteins interact through physical association and post-translational modifications (PTMs) to give rise to the emergent functions of cells. Understanding these functions requires one to study proteomes as "systems" rather than collections of individual protein molecules. The abstraction of the interacting proteome to "protein networks" has recently gained much attention, as networks are effective representations, that lose specific molecular details, but provide the ability to see the proteome as a whole. Mostly two aspects of the proteome have been represented by network models: proteome-wide physical protein-protein-binding interactions organized into Protein Interaction Networks (PINs), and proteome-wide PTM relations organized into Protein Signaling Networks (PSNs). Mass spectrometry (MS) techniques have been shown to be essential to reveal both of these aspects on a proteome-wide scale. Techniques such as affinity purification followed by MS have been used to elucidate protein-protein interactions, and MS-based quantitative phosphoproteomics is critical to understand the structure and dynamics of signaling through the proteome. We here review the current state-of-the-art MS-based analytical pipelines for the purpose to characterize proteome-scale networks. 相似文献

The ejection force of injection-moulded thermoplastics depends on the contact conditions at the moment of ejection. Replication of the polymer part surface occurs onto the mould surface during injection of the melt. Ejection takes place in a very short time, hence the static coefficient of friction must be considered for modelling the ejection process. To understand the contribution of the mechanisms involved in the friction during the ejection stage, a mixed approach was followed: analytical simulation of the ploughing, numerical simulation of the deformation, and experimental inference of the adhesion.
