Cellulosic materials are the major components of fibrous biomass produced as a result of photosynthesis and are considered as a reservoir of solar energy and organic materials. In order to cope with the problems of food and energy shortages expected in the near future, biotechnologists are encouraged to develop new technologies for the more effective utilization of the world's sustainable resources, i.e., biomass. One way is to engineer microorganisms and animals with the capability of digesting and utilizing cellulosic materials, and plants which can be easily degraded by cellulolytic enzymes. In this article, we summarize recent studies on the molecular breeding of cellulolytic organisms for biomass utilization along with some considerations regarding cellulolytic enzymes. 相似文献

Porous polymer composite columns having porous structure were prepared by radiation cast-polymerization of hydrophilic monomers at low temperature and their characteristics were studied. The porosity of the polymer increased with decreasing monomer concentration. The elution time of water in the polymer column increased with increasing monomer concentration and with decreasing irradiation temperature. The elution time was dependent on the degree of hydration of the polymer. The polymer with a degree of hydration of 0.2 to 0.4 gave the minimum elution time. The elution time decreased with the addition of porous inorganic substances. 相似文献

We report on our prototype experiment that uses a 4-m detuned resonant sideband extraction interferometer with suspended mirrors, which has almost the same configuration as the next-generation, gravitational-wave detectors. We have developed a new control scheme and have succeeded in the operation of such an interferometer with suspended mirrors for the first time ever as far as we know. We believe that this is the first such instrument that can see the radiation pressure signal enhancement, which can improve the sensitivity of next-generation gravitational-wave detectors. 相似文献

Excess micromotion of trapped calcium ions was detected and compensated in our linear Paul trap apparatus for trace isotope analysis. The micromotion was detected by Charge-coupled device (CCD). camera and radio frequency (rf) correlation method. We found that 230 and 2280 V of compensation voltages were needed for x- and y-axis compensation in our apparatus, respectively. The z-axis micromotion was confirmed by the experiment and its cause was investigated by finding a shape of z-axis confinement field. The confinement field was indeed distorted in our apparatus and it gave rise to the trapped ion to shift from potential center. And the micromotion of r-direction was transferred to the z-axis by the distorted confinement field. The z-axis micromotion was suppressed by increasing cap voltage of trap. 相似文献

Measurements of the V–I characteristics of a solid polymer electrolytic (SPE) dehumidifier were done using a modified SPE dehumidifier with four electrodes which included two electrodes to carry the main current and the other two electrodes to measure the voltages applied to the electrical double layer, which are the boundary voltages between the electrodes and the SPE membrane. The measured results were analyzed using the Butler-Volmer equation to examine the validity of the measurements. The current flowing in the dehumidifier is produced by the decomposition of water near the anode. Therefore, under a steady-state condition, the current should be proportional to the supply rate of water to the anode. On the other hand, a two-layer model for the SPE dehumidifier presented in our previous article showed that the current flowing in the dehumidifier was roughly proportional to the water content in the vicinity of the anode. These results were introduced for interpretation of the V–I measurements of the SPE dehumidifier. It was concluded that the dehumidifier current was expressed in the form of a Butler-Volmer equation as a function of the electrode boundary voltages which were the voltages across the boundary between the electrodes and the SPE membrane. An experimental formula for the current under a steady-state condition was developed as a function of the water content near the anode and the boundary voltages. 相似文献

The annealing effect on the optical and magnetic properties of the GaDyN layers was studied. The PL intensities of yellow and green bands as well as the intra-4f orbital transition of Dy3+ ions were found to decrease for the samples annealed at 900 and 1000 °C. It is supposed that the intra-4f orbital transition is related to the broad peak luminescence coming from defects. Increasing the annealing temperature, the magnetization becomes smaller. It is considerable that the number of electrons coming from defects was reduced by the annealing treatments and that the ferromagnetism in GaDyN is attributed as carrier induced ferromagnetism. 相似文献

The overall aim was to investtgate the effect of highly active husk ash (RHA) produced by an industrial furnace on some properties of concrete. The strength, pore volume and pore distribution of concrete and the Ca(OH)2 content in concrete were investigated by JIS A 1108 ( Method of test for compressive strength of concrete), a mercury instrument porosimeter, and the thermogravimetric analysis, respectively. The results show that, with RHA replacement of cement , the compressive strength of concrete is increased evidently;the average pore radius of concrete is greatly decreased, especially the portion of the pores greater than 20nm in radius is decreased while the amount, of smaller pores is increased, and the more the RHA replacement, the less the amount of Ca(OH)2 in concrete. The latter two results are the main reasons for the strength enhancement of concrete. 相似文献

We have developed a novel sensor that enables us to measure the relative story displacement of a building structure in real time. This lateral displacement sensor (LDS) is composed of a light‐emitting diode (LED) array, which is fixed on the ceiling, and a position‐sensitive detector (PSD) unit, which is placed on the floor. We optimized the LDS to achieve high accuracy in lateral displacement measurement. The accuracy was evaluated to be 60 µm by conducting shaking table tests. Two LDSs were implemented in an actual building equipped with an active variable stiffness (AVS) system, and the building was vibrated with seismic waveforms by an exciter placed on the rooftop. The seismic displacement of the second floor relative to the first floor was measured using the LDS. Furthermore, the inclination angle of the second floor could be measured using the LDS during the seismic vibration. Using the AVS system, we realized the residual displacement of the second floor without inducing damage to the building, and succeeded in real‐time residual displacement measurement for the first time. Although a programmable logic controller (PLC) has been widely adopted for the sequence control of industrial machinery, its performance does not always satisfy the recent requirements in large and highly responsive systems. With the state‐of‐the‐art field programmable gate array (FPGA) technology, it is possible to implement a control program with hard‐wired logic for higher response and reduced implementation cost/space. This approach is also worthwhile for transmigration of legacy PLC software into forthcoming FPGA‐based control hardware. This study presents a systematic method to implement a hard‐wired sequence control from PLC software. PLC instructions are converted into VHDL codes, and then implemented as logic circuit with various peripheral functions. Productive PLC programs were examined with Mitsubishi Electric FX2N PLC and Altera Stratix II FPGA, and were shown to fit into a common FPGA chip. A straightforward Sequential design was estimated to be 184 times faster than PLC, while a performance‐oriented Flat design was estimated to be 44 times faster than Sequential design (i.e., 8050 times faster than PLC). A practical perfect layer winder system was actually built and successfully operated with our FPGA control board, whose logic design was implemented with our tools. © 2011 Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.
