(137)Cs activity concentrations were studied in the sediment profiles collected at five locations in the Middle and South Adriatic. In the sediment profiles collected from the South Adriatic Pit, the deepest part of the Adriatic Sea, two (137)Cs peaks were identified. The peak in the deeper layer was attributed to the period of intensive atmospheric nuclear weapon tests (early 1960s), and the other to the Chernobyl nuclear accident (1986). Those peaks could be used to estimate sedimentation rates by relating them to the respective time periods. Grain-size analysis showed no changes in vertical distribution through the depth of the sediment profile, and these results indicate uniform sedimentation, as is expected in deeper marine environments. It was not possible to identify respective peaks on more shallow locations due to disturbance of the seabed either by trawlers (locations Palagru?a and Jabuka) or by river sediment (location Albania). The highest sedimentation rates were found in Albania (~4 mm y(-1)) and Jabuka (3.1 mm y(-1)). For Palagru?a, the sedimentation rate was estimated to be 1.8 mm y(-1), similar to the South Adriatic Pit where the sedimentation rate was estimated to be 1.8±0.5 mm y(-1). Low sedimentation rates found for the Middle and South Adriatic Sea are consistent with previously reported results for the rest of the Mediterranean. 相似文献

The social aspect is very important in sustainability assessment of waste treatment technique, as well as making decision on their application and planning. In recent years, it is becoming evident that a waste treatment technique, which ignores social aspects, is doomed to failure. The most commonly used social indicators are: number of jobs created, level of social acceptance, public knowledge, public health etc. The most of them are qualitative and measuring the sustainability and quantifying the social dimension of sustainability are difficult tasks. This paper presents the application of fuzzy logic for evaluating the social indicator—level of social acceptance. The fuzzy set theory and fuzzy logic were used to develop a model for the evaluation of level of social acceptance, due to the lack of data, uncertainties, and qualitative character of indicators and also to provide effective way to include knowledge and gained experience on the process. A questionnaire was applied as instrument for data collection. The fuzzy model was verified using the city of Ni? as a case study. The results obtained using the developed fuzzy model, shows that the highest level of social acceptance in the city of Ni? is for recycling (57.47 %) and the lowest level of social acceptance is for incineration (17.74 %). The presented study suggests an innovative methodology for evaluation of level of social acceptance of certain waste treatment based on fuzzy logic approach and can be used for ranking of waste management scenarios in the sustainability assessment. 相似文献

This work considers structural and compression mechanical properties of three Ti3Al-based alloys processed by powder metallurgy. Mechanically alloyed powders were compacted by hot-pressing to non-porous

dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) and X-ray diffraction analysis. Fracture topography was examined by SEM. The Ti3Al-Nb alloy exhibits the highest ductility in the whole temperature range, whereas addition of Mo to Ti3Al-Nb alloy yields the highest ultimate compression strength. Several tablets are prepared with two forms of an active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) of which one (less than 1% w/w) is considered undesirable. The presence of this component is tested for by Raman microscopy in a series of mapping experiments. These experiments are conducted with a statistically based sampling routine in which the number of spectra to collect across the whole surface of a tablet is set so as to theoretically ensure spectral detection of the low-concentration form. Such experiments are then repeated a number of times to achieve approximately 95% confidence that the strictly limited number of sampling points suffice to detect the low-concentration form and that Raman microscopy is technically a reliable method for analytical analysis of this type. 相似文献

An innovative method was developed for production of alginate hydrogel microbeads incorporated with silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) based on electrochemical synthesis followed by electrostatic extrusion. AgNPs were synthesized galvanostatically at different values of AgNO3 concentration in the initial solution (0.5–3.9 mM), current density (5–50 mA cm−2), and implementation time (0.5–10 min). Increase in all of these parameters increased the concentration of AgNPs in alginate solution and was confirmed by TEM analysis and UV–vis spectroscopy. Cyclic voltammetry studies and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy proved the alginate to be a good capping agent for the electrochemical synthesis of silver nanoparticles, due to coordination bonding between hydroxyl and ether groups, as well as ring oxygen atoms in uronic acid residues of alginate molecules, and Ag nanoparticles. Ag/alginate colloid solution was used for production of uniform hydrogel microbeads (with diameter of 487.75 ± 16.5 μm) by electrostatic extrusion technique. UV–vis spectroscopy confirmed retention and entrapment of AgNPs in microbeads during the production process. Alginate microbeads incorporated with AgNPs are attractive as biocompatible carriers and/or efficient donors of AgNPs as active components especially for potential biomedical applications, which was demonstrated by the antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus. 相似文献

The performance of line-mapping and global illumination Raman systems for two pharmaceutical tablets and a powder blend are assessed in this study. The chemical images were obtained from the placebo, real tablets, and powder blend by using x20, x50, and x100 objectives, as well as via the (pseudo) confocal set-up. The chemical images were produced via univariate wavenumbers and as re-folded principal component (PC) scores (known as score images). In most cases it was easy to image two or three major components of the tablets directly, while the minor components were only imaged via PC scores. The active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) were located relatively easily even if present in quite low concentrations (less than 1%) owing to the high Raman scattering coefficients of these materials. The strength of the Raman signal of the API makes it almost ubiquitous in the chemical images of real tablets. Thorough discussion is given on the strategies used to produce chemical images, the prospects of making composite images of all components present in the tablets, and the effects of packing density with relation to the diffusion of the excitation laser light inside the sample. The strengths and weaknesses of the Raman imaging techniques used are emphasized and suggestions are given regarding which instrument is preferable with respect to the goal of the experiment and material under study. For example, mapping technology is preferred for analyzing minor components, while the global illumination approach is recommended for imaging of spatially isolated strong Raman scatterers. 相似文献

This study was concerned with the possibility of oil separation from two heavily polluted wastewater types: formation water and wastewater from hardening shop, using bed a newly developed coalescer. Experiments were carried out using original wastewaters and an artificial model wastewater. Results obtained for seven samples of formation water of very different quality showed that the water properties had no significant effect on bed coalescence efficiency. In contrast to this, crude oil properties strongly influenced steady-state bed coalescence. In the treatment of hardening oily wastewater in situ during a 4-month period oil concentration in the effluent was less than 20mg/l in all experiments. It appeared that oil concentration and water quality had no effect on bed separation efficiency. Special design of the coalescer and use of two filter materials ensured its good performance. Namely, the pipe-in-pipe construction provided the water orientation change several times while passing through the unit, making inertia one of dominant separation mechanisms. 相似文献

Among the 57 monoclonal antibodies analyzed within the T-cell group of the Second International Swine CD Workshop, one mAb fell within cluster T14a that included the CD6 standard a38b2 (No. 175). The new mAb MIL8 (No. 082) and a38b2 both precipitated from activated T-cells a 150 kDa monomeric protein. Staining patterns on the various cell types were similar. This work deals with the effect of build orientation and of allowance for machining on DMLS‐produced Maraging Steel MS1. The experimental results, arranged by tools of Design of Experiment, have been statistically processed and compared. The outcomes were that, probably due to effect of the thermal treatment, machining, and material properties, the aforementioned factors do not have a significant impact on the fatigue response. This made it possible to work out a global curve that accounts for all the results, consisting in a high amount of data points. This can be regarded as one of the most complete and reliable fatigue models in the current literature. Fractographic and micrographic studies have been performed as well, to individuate the crack initiation points, usually located at subsurface porosities, and to investigate the location of internal inclusions and the actual martensitic microstructure along the stacking direction and on the build plane. 相似文献
