Sensor nodes equipped with solar cells and rechargeable batteries are useful in many outdoor, long-lasting applications. In these sensor nodes, the cycles of energy harvesting and battery recharge need to be managed appropriately in order to avoid sensor node unavailability due to energy shortages. To this purpose, we suggest sensor nodes to be programmed with alternative scheduling plans, each corresponding to a given energy requirement and meeting a given quality level. Thus, sensor nodes can select the scheduling plan that best suits to the expected energy production and the residual battery charge, in order to avoid sensor nodes' unavailability. We then propose an algorithm for the selection of the scheduling plan that aims at keeping the overall energy consumption neutral and that can sustain the sensor nodes’ activities uninterruptedly.  相似文献

The character of Merlot wines after the treatments of micro-oxygenation and subsequent chips addition, as regards the colour-related phenolics, volatile composition and sensory characteristics, was studied. An increase in the degree of polymerisation of red pigments and a decrease in the value of the red component of the colour (a*) and the degree of co-pigmentation were observed. The concentrations of monomeric anthocyanins and anthocyanin-derived pigments, such as hydroxyphenyl-pyranoanthocyanins and anthocyanin-ethyl-flavan-3-ol adducts, significantly decreased. With regard to the wine aroma, the micro-oxygenation produced a decrease of some esters, alcohols and benzenic compounds and increased some terpenes and C13-norisoprenoids. With regard to sensorial analysis, micro-oxygenation treatment resulted in higher scores for the red fruit and spicy attributes and caused the presence of new attributes (nutty and sweet fruit). This technique produces a lower level of the typical oak chip aromas (vanilla and woody) in Merlot wines.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

This article assesses the main problems facing the Spanish Tagus River basin, and the management that has caused (or allowed) them. It examines the economic, social, environmental and political-institutional dimensions of Tagus River management in terms of sustainable development. We find that the institutions responsible for designing and implementing water policy in the Tagus basin have been unsuccessful in balancing the three classic dimensions of sustainability, resulting in systematic and recurrent failure to comply with the European Water Framework Directive and the principles of sustainable development.  相似文献

A miniaturised pressurised liquid technique has been applied to the extraction of volatile compounds present in oak wood samples used in making wine. The solvent extraction performed at high pressure and temperature has allowed the detection of a large number of compounds some of which present sensory and antioxidant properties. The effect of the main process variables on the efficiency of extraction has been studied: the composition of the extracted fraction depended mainly on the polarity of the solvent and the extraction temperature had a high influence on the extracted amount, while the effect of static extraction time and pressure were almost negligible. The highest recoveries were obtained for dichloromethane, for two static 10-min extraction cycles at 60 °C. Among the solvent extraction techniques, miniaturised pressurised liquid extraction presents several advantages, such as the use of reduced amounts of both sample and solvent and high extraction efficiency.  相似文献

A rotating tray drier was built and controlled for drying of tomato slices at different temperatures (45, 50 and 60 °C) and air velocities (0.6 and 1.2 m s?1) with and without tray rotation. Drying curves were fitted using the Page mathematical model. Effective diffusivities for the different drying conditions correlated well with the chemical composition variables; lycopene, ascorbic acid and total polyphenols (TPP). The effect of drying conditions over quality of dried tomato slices was evaluated by quantifying their contents of lycopene, ascorbic acid and TPP, and measuring their color and rehydration ratio. The best drying conditions were 60 °C drying temperature and 0.6 m s?1 air velocity with the use of tray rotation. These conditions minimized the degradation of lycopene (2.9%), ascorbic acid (17.3%) and TPP (2.1%) during drying. Tray rotation has a contribution on the a* color value, as well as on the lycopene and ascorbic acid concentrations (5% significance level).  相似文献

Decanoic acid reverse micelle-based coacervates were used to provide simple, rapid and almost solventless extraction of bisphenol A (BPA) from canned fatty foods. The procedure involved the extraction of 200–400 mg of homogenised food sample with an aqueous solution containing 20% THF and 200 mg of decanoic acid, conditions under which the coacervate (around 550 µl) formed in situ and instantaneously. The overall sample treatment took about 30 min and several samples could be simultaneously treated using conventional laboratory equipment. No clean-up or solvent evaporation were required before determination of BPA by liquid chromatography and fluorescence detection. Recoveries in samples were between 90 and 99%, with relative standard deviations in the range 2–7%. The limit of quantification ranged 29–15 ng g?1 for 200–400 mg of sample, being far below the current specific migration limit (SML) set by the European Commission (600 ng g?1). The method was successfully applied to the determination of BPA in the solid content of canned fish (from 20 to 129 ng g?1) and meat (from undetected to 37 ng g?1).  相似文献

Self-assembly, the process by which supramolecular solvents (SUPRAS) with an ordered structure are produced, provides unique opportunities to obtain tailored solvents with advanced functional features. In this work, environment-responsive (C(7)-C(14)) alkanol-based SUPRAS were synthesized and their potential for analytical extractions was assessed. The global composition of the solvent, the size of the coacervate droplets that form it, and the aqueous cavities of the inverted hexagonal arrangement of the alkanols can be tailored by controlling the environment [specifically, the tetrahydrofuran (THF):water ratio in the bulk solution] for alkanol self-assembly. Interestingly, supramolecular solvents are highly adaptive and the previous features can all be reversed by modifying the environment. The spontaneous self-assembly of these solvents followed predictable routes, and their composition and volume can be accurately predicted from equations derived in this work. The solvents were structurally elucidated by light and cryo-scanning electron microscopy. Extractive applications exploiting the molecular size-based restricted access properties of SUPRAS were developed and their ability to engage in mixed-mode mechanisms for solute solubilization was established. Thus, solutes of increasing molecular weight were extracted from food and environmental samples with recoveries dependent on vacuole size in the SUPRAS, while macromolecules such as proteins, carbohydrates, and humic acids were excluded. The ability of SUPRAS to establish hydrogen-bonding and dispersion interactions was exploited to extract carcinogenic chlorophenols (CCPs) from environmental waters, and a simple and fast method was developed with quantitation limits (e.g., 0.21-0.23 μg·L(-1)) low enough to comply with legislation (e.g., maximum permitted levels for pentachlorophenol are in the range 0.4-1 μg·L(-1)).  相似文献

In this article, a traffic radar verification system based on the GPS–Doppler technology is described. An speedometer boarded in the target vehicle estimates its speed from the Doppler variation of the GPS satellites signals, and transmits it via radio to the police vehicle, where the radar to verify is located. In order to automate the procedure and be more effective, the detailed system applies artificial vision techniques in recognition of the radar display indication. The GPS–Doppler verifier has been tested operating simultaneously with the previous verification system that is based on the Doppler shift of the radar signal reflected by the target vehicle, which is slower and less precise. The results demonstrate that the new verification system is completely compatible with the previous one.  相似文献

The design and planning of an integrated ethanol and gasoline supply chain is addressed, and is composed of harvesting and production sites for ethanol, petroleum refineries, distribution centers where blending takes place, and the retail gas stations where blends of gasoline and ethanol are sold. We postulate a superstructure that combines all the components of the supply chain and different means of transportation, and model this multiscale design problem as a multiperiod MILP model. In order to identify regions where investments are needed and the optimal configuration of the network, a strategic planning model is considered in which gasoline stations are aggregated in different regions. A detailed formulation is considered where regions are disaggregated into gas stations to determine the retrofit projects for the selection of blending pumps over their expected life. Coccinellid beetles contain a variety of defensive alkaloids that render them unpalatable to predators. Epilachna paenulata (Coleoptera: Coccinellidae) is a South American ladybird beetle that feeds on plants of the Cucurbitaceae family. The defensive chemistry of E. paenulata has been characterized as a mixture of systemic piperidine, homotropane, and pyrrolidine alkaloids. Whole body extracts of adult beetles contain four major alkaloids: 2-(2′-oxopropyl)-6-methylpiperidine (1); 1-(6-methyl-2,3,4,5-tetrahydro-pyridin-2-yl)-propan-2-one (2); 1-methyl-9-azabicyclo[3.3.1]nonan-3-one (3); and 1-(2″-hydroxyethyl)-2-(12′-aminotridecyl)-pyrrolidine (4). Comparative studies of the defensive chemistry of eggs, larvae, pupae, and adults showed differences in alkaloid composition and concentration among life stages. While adults contained mainly the homotropane 1-methyl-9-azabicyclo[3.3.1]nonan-3-one (3), eggs showed the highest concentration of the piperidine 2-(2′-oxopropyl)-6-methylpiperidine (1). We studied the origin of this alkaloid in the eggs by feeding newly emerged, virgin adult beetles with [2-13C]-labeled acetate, and by performing crosses between 13C-fed and unlabeled males and females. GC-MS analysis of alkaloids from 13C-fed males and females showed high incorporation of 13C into the alkaloids, as evidenced from a 20–30% increase of isotopic peaks in diagnostic fragment ions, confirming the expected endogenous origin of these alkaloids. In addition, analyses of eggs from different crosses showed that labeled alkaloids from both parents are incorporated into eggs, indicating that E. paenulata males transfer alkaloids to the females at mating. Biparental endowment of chemical defenses into eggs has been shown previously in insects that acquire defensive compounds from dietary sources. To our knowledge, this is the first report of biparental egg endowment of endogenous defenses.
