Porous MgAl2O4 ceramics designated as THERMOSCATTTM have diffuse reflectance based on the Mie theory. The reflectance greatly suppresses radiation heat transfer and has low emissivity at 1–5 μm wavelengths. Their thermal conductivity has been measured as less than 0.3 W/(m K) at 1500°C. Furthermore, porous MgAl2O4 ceramics have near-zero hemispherical spectral emissivity values at 0.35–5 μm wavelengths. High heat resistance and low emissivity materials in the atmosphere are useful for the innermost layer of industrial furnaces to confine energy efficiently. Additionally, this material is useful as a radiation reflectors, such as in stand-off thermal protection systems. This study elucidated the suppression of radiation transfer in porous MgAl2O4 ceramics attributable to low thermal emissivity. Therefore, the thermal insulation performance under radiation heating in vacuum, the emissivity validity evaluation of low-emissivity porous materials using finite element analysis, and microstructure effects on radiation heating performance and mechanical properties were investigated. 相似文献

This paper presents results of the feasibility of carbon/epoxy composites (CFRP) as a future helicopter flexbeam material. Torsional behaviors of unidirectional CFRP and glass/epoxy composites (GFRP) with the same resin matrix were investigated. The initial torsional rigidity of CFRP was almost identical to that of GFRP. The torsional rigidities calculated using finite element analyses (FEA) agreed with the experimental results: the torsional rigidities are governed mainly by the material’s shear stiffness. Torsion fatigue tests were also conducted by controlling the angle of twist of the sinusoidal wave under a constant tensile axial load. No catastrophic failure occurred with either GFRP or CFRP, although decreased amplitudes of torque and torsional rigidities were observed according to the number of cycles. Results of X-ray CT inspections and numerical calculation by FEA revealed that degradation of a torsional rigidity is caused mainly by splitting crack propagation along the fiber direction. The torsion fatigue life of CFRP was superior to that of GFRP. Consequently, results confirmed that CFRP exhibits excellent properties as a torsional element of a helicopter flexbeam in terms of torsional rigidity and tension–torsion fatigue behaviors. 相似文献

In this study, we examined the protective effect of lactoferrin against DNA damage induced by various hydroxyl radical generation systems. Lactoferrin (LF) was examined with regard to its potential role as a scavenger against radical oxygen species using bovine milk LF. Native LF, iron-saturated LF (holo-LF), and apolactoferrin (apo-LF) effectively suppressed strand breaks in plasmid DNA due to hydroxyl radicals produced by the Fenton reaction. In addition, both native LF and holo-LF clearly protected calf thymus DNA from fragmentation due to ultraviolet irradiation in the presence of H2O2. We also demonstrated a protective effect of all three LF molecules against 8-hydroxydeoxyguanosine (8-OHdG) formation in calf thymus DNA following ultraviolet (UV) irradiation with H2O2. Our results clearly indicate that native LF has reactive oxygen species-scavenging ability, independent of its nature as a masking component for transient metals. We also demonstrated that the protective effect of LF against oxidative DNA damage is due to degradation of LF itself, which is more susceptible to degradation than other bovine milk proteins. 相似文献

From March 2000 to September 2001, 608 samples of retail meat (136 pork, 70 beef, 202 chicken, and 200 ducks) and 110 samples of retail shrimp from six provinces of the Mekong Delta in Vietnam were collected individually and examined for the prevalence of Salmonella. Of the 718 samples examined, 243 (33.8%) were Salmonella positive. Salmonella was isolated from 69.9% of the pork samples, 48.6% of the beef samples, 21.0% of the chicken meat samples, 22.3% of the duck meat samples, and 24.5% of the shrimp samples. From 261 Salmonella isolates, 24 different serovars were identified. The predominant serovars of the isolates were Salmonella Derby, Salmonella Weltevreden, and Salmonella London in pork; Salmonella Weltevreden, Salmonella London, and Salmonella Dessau in beef; Salmonella Emek, Salmonella Typhimurium, and Salmonella Dessau in chicken meat; Salmonella Lexington, Salmonella Derby, and Salmonella Dessau in duck meat; and Salmonella Weltevreden, Salmonella Tennessee, and Salmonella Dessau in shrimps. Salmonella Bovismorbificans, Salmonella Derby, Salmonella Dessau, and Salmonella Weltevreden were the most common serovars in all the samples examined. The magnetic stability of a dynamically stabilized Nb----Ti or Nb3Sn strip conductor has been analysed theoretically when the external field is applied perpendicular to the wide plane of the conductor. Under the condition that the conductor is face-cooled, an expression of the limiting current density of stability Jc has been derived as a function of the pertinent parameters of the conductor and the heat transfer of the coolant. It should be noted that Jc is independent of the width of the strip conductor. An average critical current density as high as 300 A mm-2 can be attained without magnetic instability. Even if the structural member is introduced in the winding, overall current density in excess of 100 A mm-2 is expected to be achieved in large-scale magnets. 相似文献

Calcium pyrophosphate dihydrate (CPPD) crystals are formed locally within the joints, leading to pseudogout. Although the mobilization of local granulocytes can be observed in joints where pseudogout has manifested, the mechanism of this activity remains poorly understood. In this study, CPPD crystals were administered to mice, and the dynamics of splenic and peripheral blood myeloid cells were analyzed. As a result, levels of both granulocytes and monocytes were found to increase following CPPD crystal administration in a concentration-dependent manner, with a concomitant decrease in lymphocytes in the peripheral blood. In contrast, the levels of other cells, such as dendritic cell subsets, T-cells, and B-cells, remained unchanged in the spleen, following CPPD crystal administration. Furthermore, an increase in granulocytes/monocyte progenitors (GMPs) and a decrease in megakaryocyte/erythrocyte progenitors (MEPs) were also observed in the bone marrow. In addition, CPPD administration induced production of IL-1β, which acts on hematopoietic stem cells and hematopoietic progenitors and promotes myeloid cell differentiation and expansion. These results suggest that CPPD crystals act as a “danger signal” to induce IL-1β production, resulting in changes in course of hematopoietic progenitor cell differentiation and in increased granulocyte/monocyte levels, and contributing to the development of gout. 相似文献

Controlling the differentiation potential of adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs) is attracting attention as a new strategy for the prevention and treatment of obesity. Here, we aimed to observe the effect of exercise training (TR) and high-fat diet (HFD) on the metabolic profiles of ADSCs-derived adipocytes. The rats were divided into four groups: normal diet (ND)-fed control (ND-SED), ND-fed TR (ND-TR), HFD-fed control (HFD-SED), and HFD-fed TR (HFD-TR). After 9 weeks of intervention, ADSCs of epididymal and inguinal adipose tissues were differentiated into adipocytes. In the metabolome analysis of adipocytes after isoproterenol stimulation, 116 metabolites were detected. The principal component analysis demonstrated that ADSCs-derived adipocytes segregated into four clusters in each fat pad. Amino acid accumulation was greater in epididymal ADSCs-derived adipocytes of ND-TR and HFD-TR, but lower in inguinal ADSCs-derived adipocytes of ND-TR, than in the respective controls. HFD accumulated several metabolites including amino acids in inguinal ADSCs-derived adipocytes and more other metabolites in epididymal ones. Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes enrichment analysis revealed that TR mainly affected the pathways related to amino acid metabolism, except in inguinal ADSCs-derived adipocytes of HFD-TR rats.
