Different synthetic products currently available and which find wide application as lubricants, are described, and their merits and demerits compared with the mineral based lubricants are outlined. Some of the major synthetic lubricants used in Indian industries are identified. The Indian chemical industry's potential to meet some of the requirements of synthetic lubricants is discussed and the need to create additional facilities in India for the manufacture of certain critical products, is described.  相似文献

Starch from sal seeds cake was isolated, bleached and purified. Scanning electron microscopy of the starch showed round to oval shaped granules of the size 3.5 to 12.3 μm. The starch has more nitrogen, phosphorus, lipids, amylose and water binding capacity in comparison to the other starches of forest origin. Despite its low and seemingly restricted swelling, the sal starch is much more soluble at any particular degree of swelling. Paste viscosity curve showed no drop in viscosity after full gelatinisation had taken place, i. e. the paste is stable on continued cooking.  相似文献

Practical application of aligned carbon nanotubes (ACNTs) would have to be determined by a matter of its economical and large-scale preparation. In this study, neem oil (also named Margoaa oil, extracted from the seeds of the neem--Azadirachta indica) was used as carbon source to fabricate the bundles of ACNTs. ACNTs have been synthesized by spray pyrolysis of neem oil and ferrocene mixture at 825°C. The major components of neem oil are hydrocarbon with less amount of oxygen, which provided the precursor species in spray pyrolysis growth of CNTs. The bundles of ACNTs have been grown directly inside the quartz tube. The as-grown ACNTs have been characterized through Raman spectroscopy, scanning and transmission electron microscopic (SEM/TEM) techniques. SEM images reveal that the bundles of ACNTs are densely packed and are of several microns in length. High-resolution TEM analysis reveals these nanotubes to be multi-walled CNTs. These multi-walled CNTs were found to have inner diameter between 15 and 30 nm. It was found that present technique gives high yield with high density of bundles of ACNTs.  相似文献

A novel polymer bearing coumarin pendants of 4‐allyloxy‐2H‐chromen‐2‐one (ACO) was synthesized by atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) in toluene at 110°C using 2‐Bromoisobutyryl bromide (BIBB), Cu (I) Br, and 2,2′‐bipyridyl (bpy) as initiator, catalyst, and ligand, respectively. The most appropriate molar concentration ratio of [ACO] : [BIBB] : [Cu (I) Br] : [bpy] was found to be 40 : 1 : 1 : 2 for controlled polymerization. Successful chain extension polymerization of poly (4‐allyloxy‐2H‐chromen‐2‐one) (PACO) confirms the livingness of the process. The activation energy (Ea) (76.26 kJ mol?1) and enthalpy of activation (ΔH?) (73.07 kJ mol?1) were in good agreement to each other proving the feasibility of the reaction and negative value of entropy of activation (ΔS?) (?320 J mol?1 K?1) supported the highly restricted movement of reacting species in transition state during polymerization. Initial polymer decomposition temperature of PACO was found to be 130°C. SEM analysis revealed that polymer surface is not smooth with pointed rod like shapes. The polymer/Ag nanocomposite was synthesized and examined in view of antibacterial effect against Enterococcus faecalis, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Proteus mirabilis, and Klebsiella pneumonae. PACO and its Ag nanocomposite (PACON) have been found to be active selectively against bacterial pathogen E. fecalis with minimum inhibitory concentration of 50 and 32 μg mL?1, respectively. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We have synthesized pure nanocrystalline CeO2 powders of nearly spherical shape using high-energy attritor ball mill. Milling parameters such as the milling speed of 400 rpm, ball to powder ratio (40:1), milling time (30 h) and water cooled media were determined to be suitable for synthesizing nanosize (~10 nm) powders of CeO2. The powders after milling for various durations (up-to 50 h) were characterized by X-ray Diffraction, Scanning Electron Microscopy, Energy-dispersive X-ray Spectrometry and Transmission Electron Microscopy. An average particle size of 10 nm was obtained at 30 h milling, after which the particle agglomeration started, and a mixture of nanocrystalline and amorphous phase was observed after 50 h milling.  相似文献

A facile and eco-friendly synthesis of polypyrrole from monomer pyrrole using nominal amount of ferric chloride hexahydrate (FeCl3.6H2O) oxidant in aqueous solution by chemically oxidative polymerization method has been reported. The use of aqueous solvent and ferric chloride hexahydrate salt in polypyrrole synthesis have an eco-friendly route favorable for the production of polypyrrole in large quantities. The synthesized polypyrrole samples exhibit good electrical conductivity (2 S/cm) and yield of 80% for reaction time of 8 hr at 5°C. Quality and properties of polypyrrole samples have been thoroughly investigated with varying reaction time and temperature while other synthesis parameters like molar ratio of oxidant to monomer, oxidant concentration, and solvent were kept constant. X-ray diffraction analysis of polypyrrole with a shorter reaction time shows the presence of iron oxide (Fe2O3) peaks. The complete reaction may not occur at shorter reaction times due to which residual ferric ions converted into Fe2O3. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy measurement of polypyrrole also confirms the formation of Fe2O3. Appropriate selection of reaction time and temperature produced pure phase polypyrrole with high yield and good conductivity. Synthesized polypyrrole by our eco-friendly and cost-effective technique exhibits prominent electromagnetic shielding effectiveness value of 30 dB in the X-band (8–12 GHz).  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Nano-composite polymer gel electrolytes (NPGEs) based on polymer poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene) PVdF-HFP, ionic liquid, 1-butyl-3- methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide BMIMTFSI, Li-salt along with the addition of SiO2 nanoparticles have been synthesized and characterized by various techniques. Prepared NPGEs show high room temperature ionic conductivity (~10?3 S/cm) and have a wide electrochemical window (ECW) (~3.3–3.5 V). The galvanostatic charge/discharge profile was studied by sandwiching best performing NPGEs between a LiFePO4 cathode and lithium metal anode. The specific discharge capacity of the cell (Li/NPGE/LiFePO4) room temperature at 0.1C rate is found to be 138 mAh/g.  相似文献

Metal phthalocyanine complexes (MPc; M = Cu2+, Co2+, Ni2+ and Al3+) encapsulated in zeolite-Y exhibit high catalytic activity for the cycloaddition of CO2 to epichlorohydrin and propylene oxide yielding the corresponding cyclic carbonates. The catalysts could be separated easily from the reaction mixture and reused with little loss in activity. These environmentally benign catalysts are also more efficient than either the neat complexes or those obtained by supporting them on solids like silica.  相似文献

Ethylene vinyl acetate rubber (45% vinyl acetate content, EVA‐45) and organomodified clay (12Me‐MMT) composites were prepared by solution blending of the rubber and the clay. A combination of X‐ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and transmission electron microscopy studies showed that the composites obtained are on the nanometer scale. The measurements of the dynamic mechanical properties for different compositions over a temperature range (?100 to +100°C) showed that the storage moduli of these rubber–clay nanocomposites are higher above the glass to rubber transition temperature compared to the neat rubber.
