The effects of garlic extract and three organosulphur compounds of garlic on intestinal immune responses in mice were investigated. Peyer’s patch (PP) cells were isolated from mice orally administered with garlic extracts or one of three organosulphur compounds (alliin, allicin, diallyl disulphide (DADS)). PP cells isolated from mice that had been orally injected with ethanol extract significantly produced interferon (IFN)-γ and interleukin (IL)-4. IL-2 production in PP cells was significantly reduced by hot-water and ethanol extracts from garlic. PP cells from mice administered with two organosulphur compounds, alliin or DADS (5 mg/kg/day), could produce IL-2, IFN-γ and IL-4, whereas allicin showed moderate activity. The enhancement activity of IL-2 and IFN-γ productions in PP cells by DADS was higher than those obtained by administration of alliin or allicin. Comprehensive analyses of genetic profiles in PP tissue from mice administered with ethanolic extracts, allicin or alliin revealed that oral administration of samples increased 68–144 genes and decreased 50–52 genes by ?1.8-fold. Analyses of clustering profiles of microarrays indicated that ethanol extract and alliin upregulated the expression of IFN-γ. These data showed that garlic and its organosulphur compounds stimulate de novo IFN-γ biosynthesis in PP cells, thereby promoting ileal immune responses.  相似文献

Two problems are discussed in this paper. In the first, the effect of the deposition of fibres in open-end-spinning systems on the yarn irregularity produced is considered.

The drafting operations are divided into two types, that is, System I and System II. System I is the type in which fibres are accelerated when the leading ends arrive at a point or a specified area, and System II is the type in which the trailing ends are accelerated in the same way as those of System I. System II is more profitable if the fibres have non-uniform length, and the leading-fibre-end-density function contains most of the irregularity. The rotating-drum spinning method is also considered from the viewpoint of yarn irregularity, and the range of wavelengths that should be decreased by this method is calculated. The conclusion is that the total draft must be smaller than 2πR/[lbar], where R is the inner radius of the drum and [lbar] is the mean fibre length.

The second problem concerns the separation draft. Open-end drafting systems require very high drafts for separating the fibres. The problem is to determine what value of draft is needed. The conclusion reached is that perfect separation is impossible because of the random arrangement of fibres. The probability of separation is presented and calculated theoretically.  相似文献

Organic thin‐film transistors (OTFTs) can be fabricated via a wet process and have exceptionally high flexibility. Therefore, production using the roll‐to‐roll (RtoR) method is expected. We succeeded in developing a new OTFT wet fabrication process adaptable to the RtoR process. Utilizing the electroless plating method for wiring formation, all materials can be formed in a wet process and can be patterned using the photolithography process. In addition, we succeeded in fabricating OTFT on an A4‐type flexible substrate using RtoR direct imaging exposure system.  相似文献

Surge arresters are sometimes damaged by lightning strokes with high energy, in spite of installation of conventional protection methods. In order to reduce the number of failures of surge arresters, we should consider another protection method, such as an increase in the withstand capability of surge arresters and installation of additional overhead ground wires. However, quantitative comparison of these methods for preventing damage to surge arresters against lightning strokes with high energy has never been performed. This paper describes the effects of additional overhead ground wires for preventing damage to surge arresters. The main results are: (1) The failure rate of surge arresters on a distribution line with two overhead ground wires is about one third of that with an overhead ground wire. (2) Installation of a second overhead ground wire six to eight spans from the end of a line reduces the failure rate of a surge arrester at the end as effectively as increasing the withstand capability by a factor of two. © 1998 Scripta Technica. This paper proposes a method of maintaining the stability of robotic manipulators with network connection which are doing cooperative tasks. Such robotic manipulator systems have many possibilities, but they sometimes fall into unstable states due to double connection, that is, mechanical and informational connection. A line of mice has been developed which are transgenic for an 8.2-kilobase (kb) genomic clone of the rat vasopressin (VP) gene. Using a polymerase chain reaction technique, the rat VP (rVP) transgene was shown to have tissue-specific mRNA expression in the hypothalamus, temporal lobe, parietal cerebral cortex, cerebellum, and posterior pituitary, similar to the tissue distribution of endogenous mouse and rat VP expression. Expression of transgenic rVP mRNA was also found in the lung and pancreas of the transgenic mice, sites of known ectopic expression of VP. Using two methods, Northern blot analysis with species-specific cRNA probes and a quantitative polymerase chain reaction technique, the quantity of rVP transgene mRNA was shown to regulate appropriately in response to an osmotic stimulus. After 72 h of water deprivation, the quantity of transgenic rVP mRNA increased 6.8 +/- 3.0-fold. This was not significantly different than the fold increase in mouse VP mRNA quantity seen in nontransgenic mice (4.8 +/- 1.5) but was significantly different (P < 0.05) than the 1.2 +/- 0.03-fold increase in rat VP mRNA seen in normal rats after water deprivation. In the rat hypothalamus, VP mRNA poly(A) tail length increases with osmotic stimulation, while in the mouse it does not. The poly(A) tail of transgenic rVP mRNA expressed in mouse hypothalamus did not increase in length after osmotic stimulation.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)  相似文献

Simple, high-yield concentration of DNA is important for high-throughput genetic analysis and disease diagnosis. Glass-based microfilters are popular but the process requires centrifugation steps with cumbersome chemical processes. As an alternative, a concentration method using an electric field has been explored previously, but with limited efficiency. In this paper, electric field-induced concentration and capture of DNA are studied by using high-aspect-ratio microtips coated with a gold layer. The microtips are immersed longitudinally into a solution of 100???L containing ??-phage DNA. After DNA concentration using an electric field, the microtips are withdrawn from the solution. Under AC- and biased AC fields, DNA is concentrated by electrophoresis (EP), dielectrophoresis (DEP), and electroosmotic flow (EOF). To reduce capillary effects in the withdrawal process, the microtips are coated with positively charged poly-l-lysine (PLL). The pattern of captured DNA is analyzed by fluorescence microscopy. DEP attracts DNA molecules at the edges of microtips, where the highest gradient of electric field exists. EP attracts DNA onto the surface of microtips following the vectors of an electric field. EOF generates vortexes that deliver DNA onto microtips. Using this method, 85% of DNA is captured on the PLL-coated microtips after three sequential captures. The concentration mechanism can potentially facilitate rapid and simple preparation of DNA for downstream analysis.  相似文献

Electron trapping behavior at the interface between N,N′-ditridecyl-3,4,9,10-perylene tetracarboxylic diimide (PTCDI-C13) film and thermal SiO2 was investigated by utilizing ultrathin poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) gate passivation layers. From the capacitance–voltage analysis for the PTCDI-C13/PMMA/SiO2 interface, it is found that the electron tunneling appeared with PMMA thinner than 0.8 nm, and that the thickness of the gate passivation layer should be at least 1 nm for preventing injection-type hysteresis in the capacitance–voltage curve. The effective electron mobility of organic thin-film transistors (OTFTs) based on PTCDI-C13 with SiO2 gate insulator was increased by suppressing shallow-level interface traps on SiO2 with the PMMA layer, which can be partially accounted for by the multiple trap and release model. In this work, the thickness and the density of the PMMA layers were precisely controlled with a simple spin-coating process. Even 1.3-nm thick PMMA layer caused the improvements of the electron mobility and the air stability of the n-channel conduction.  相似文献

Poly(2,7-carbazole) derivatives have been synthesized because they have more extended conjugation lengths and lower energy bandgaps than poly(3,6-carbazole)s; however, few studies regarding electrochemical synthesis of poly(2,7-carbazole)s have been reported. Here, a series of N-alkylated-2,7-di(2-furyl)carbazoles, N-butyl-2,7-di(2-thienyl)carbazole, and N-butyl-2,7-di(2-(3,4-ethylenedioxthienyl))carbazole, were synthesized to obtain electroactive films of poly(2,7-carbazole) derivatives by electrochemical polymerization. Cyclic voltammetry revealed that these monomers have excellent polymerization activity, due to their low oxidation potentials (<0.57 V vs. ferrocene (Fc/Fc+)), and the corresponding polymers exhibit good redox properties. The energy bandgaps of the polymers obtained from optical absorption spectra range from 2.1 to 2.3 eV. Among the polymers, poly[N-butyl-2,7-di(2-(3,4-ethylenedioxthienyl))carbazole] shows the lowest bandgap energy of 2.1 eV, which is lower than that of previously reported poly(3,6-carbazole) analogues (2.4 eV). This polymer exhibits a significant color change from red in the oxidized state to blue in the reduced state during an electrochemical redox process. The electrochemical and optical properties of the monomers are dependent on external heteroaromatic rings attached to the 2 and 7 positions of the carbazole unit.  相似文献

We have investigated the ↑χ(3)(−3ω; ω, ω, ω)↑ spectra of polysilane films by means of third-harmonic generation. The fundamental photon energy is scanned from 0.56 to 2.2 eV. The ↑χ(3)↑ spectra show three structures, which are assigned to three- and two-photon excitonic resonances. These features indicate that the predominant excited states involved in the non-linear optical response of polysilanes are composed of three levels: the lowest one-photon allowed exciton, a one-photon forbidden exciton, and another higher-lying one-photon allowed state.  相似文献
