The physicochemical properties of starches of six different root and tuber crop species grown mainly in Sri Lanka showed significant differences among the tested crop species and varieties. The median granule size of starch of tested root and tuber crop species varied from 33.5 to 10.2 μm. The largest granule size and the highest blue value were given by the canna, Buthsarana, and yam species, in that order. The amylose content of cassava was higher than those of sweet potato and many yams. High peak viscosities, high breakdown, and high final viscosities were observed in yams, and, generally, such starch showed a high swelling power. According to the correlation analysis, these pasting properties would mainly be due to their larger starch granule size. Based on the thermal properties, cassava starch showed less energy requirement for gelatinization and thus gelatinized at lower temperatures. Furthermore, a higher susceptibility of raw cassava starch toward fungal glucoamylase was observed. The low enzyme digestibility of raw yam starch would be due to its large granules. Correlation analysis showed that the blue value and starch granule size were important in determining the pasting, thermal, and other properties of starch. 相似文献

Behavior of particle mixtures was investigated in a liquid‐fluidized bed experimentally. In the experiment, two kinds of particles of different diameters, and of the same or different materials, were charged in a fluidization column and fluidized by water. Based on the observation of fluidization, a flow pattern map was proposed using the Archimedes number ratio and the terminal velocity ratio, which classifies the two patterns, that is, separation and homogeneous mix. It has been reported that radon inhalation activates antioxidative functions in liver and has an antioxidative effect against hepatopathy similar to that of the antioxidative effects of ascorbic acid (VC) or α-tocopherol (VE). In this study, we examined the combined effects of radon inhalation and antioxidant vitamin administration on acute alcohol-induced hepatopathy in mice. ICR mice were subjected to intraperitoneal (i.p.) administration of alcohol after pretreating with air only (sham) or radon at a concentration of approximately 2000 Bq/m3 for 24 hours and i.p. administration of VC (300 mg/kg body weight) or VE (300 mg/kg body weight). In mice injected with alcohol, the combined radon and antioxidant vitamins treatment significantly decreased the activities of glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase in serum compared to not only the alcohol-administered group (sham group), but also the radon inhalation with alcohol administration group or the vitamin and alcohol administration group. In addition, radon inhalation significantly increased the antioxidant level, in such as the catalase activity and the total glutathione content in liver compared to the sham group. These results suggested that the combined radon and antioxidant vitamin treatment could effectively inhibit alcohol-induced hepatopathy in mice without any antagonizing action. 相似文献

We developed a robot patient for patient transfer training for simulating a patient’s performance during patient transfer and for enabling nurses to practice their nursing skills on it. To realize the robot patient, we focused on addressing the problems of designing its limb actions to enable it to respond to nurses’ operations. RC servos and electromagnetic brakes were installed in the joints to enable the robot to simulate a patient’s limb actions, such as embracing and remaining standing. To enable the robot to automatically respond to nurses’ operations, an identification method for these operations was developed that used voice commands and the features of the limbs’ posture measured by angle sensors installed in the robot’s joints. The robot patient’s performance was examined by a control test in which four experienced nursing teachers performed patient transfer with the robot patient and a human-simulated patient. The results revealed that the robot patient could successfully simulate the actions of a patient’s limbs according to the nursing teachers’ operations and that it is suitable for nursing skill training. 相似文献

Novel azobenzene-based photo-responsive amorphous molecular materials, 4-[bis(9,9-dimethylfluoren-2-yl)amino]-4′-cyanoazobenzene and 4-[bis(9,9-dimethylfluoren-2-yl)amino]-4′-nitroazobenzene, have been synthesized and the formation of surface relief grating on their amorphous films has been investigated. It was found that a relatively large surface relief grating could be inscribed on both amorphous films upon interference exposure to the writing laser beams. The modulation depth of the surface relief grating inscribed on the amorphous film of the cyano-substituted material was found to be larger than that inscribed on the film of the nitro-substituted one and seemed to be comparable to that inscribed on the amorphous film of the parent material, 4-[bis(9,9-dimethylfluoren-2-yl)amino]azobenzene. The superconducting transition temperature, Tc, in iron-based solids can be enhanced by applied pressure: Tc increases from 8 to 37 K for the 11-type FeSe when the pressure is raised from 0 to 4 GPa. High-pressure studies can elucidate the mechanism of superconductivity in such novel materials. In this paper, we present a high-pressure study of Fe(Se1−xTex) and Fe(Se1−xSx). In the case of Fe(Se1−xTex), the maximum Tc under high pressure did not exceed the Tc of FeSe, which can be attributed to the structural transition to the monoclinic phase. For Fe(Se1−xSx) (0 < x < 0.3), Tc exhibited a significant increase with pressure; however, the maximum Tc under high pressure did not exceed the Tc of FeSe. This may be due to the disorder induced by substituting S for Se, which is similar to the pressure effect on Tc for the 1111-type superconductor Ca(Fe1−xCox)AsF. The Tc of Fe(Se1−xSx) showed a complex behavior below 1 GPa, first decreasing and then increasing with increasing pressure. From high-pressure x-ray diffraction measurements, the Tc (P) curve was correlated with the local structural parameter. 相似文献

Self-organized rhodamine 6G particles prepared by wetting/dewetting process of an ethanol solution on a hydrophilic glass surface exhibits fluorescence without quenching, showing a sharp linewidth of 2nm with a large redshift, which indicates an existence of dye aggregates, similar to J-aggregates, inside the particle. Polarized evanescent field excitation showed that the dye molecule's transition moment along the pi-conjugation was oriented unidirectionally within particles and parallel to the substrate surface. This deduced dye orientation showed correlation between adjacent, but separated, particles and pointed roughly 45 degrees off the dewetting direction. In contrast, the particles of another pi-conjugated NK1420 dye, J-aggregates of which grows easily from an oversaturated solution, showed dye orientation along the dewetting direction preferably, still indicating the effect of self-organization, however based on a different mechanism. An annealing procedure revealed that both aggregates are in quasi-stable states, which is consistent with the rapidness of the dewetting process that may lead to crystallization in nonequilibrium. 相似文献

Ruthenium-oxide nanosheet (RuO2ns) crystallites with thickness less than 1 nm were prepared via chemical exfoliation of a layered potassium ruthenate and deposited onto carbon supported platinum (Pt/C) as a potential co-catalyst for fuel cell anode catalysts. The electrocatalytic activity towards carbon monoxide and methanol oxidation was studied at various temperatures for different RuO2ns loadings. An increase in electrocatalytic activity was evidenced at temperatures above 40 °C, while little enhancement in activity was observed at room temperature. The RuO2ns modified Pt/C catalyst with composition of RuO2:Pt = 0.5:1 (molar ratio) exhibited the highest methanol oxidation activity. CO-stripping voltammetry revealed that RuO2ns promotes oxidation of adsorbed CO on Pt. In addition to the enhanced initial activity, the RuO2ns modified Pt/C catalyst exhibited improved stability compared to pristine Pt/C against consecutive potential cycling tests. 相似文献

A series of fully-acylated dextrin esters (DS = 3) with varying side-chain lengths (C2–12) were synthesized by heterogeneous esterification using trifluoroacetic anhydride/carboxylic acid. The influence of side-chain lengths on structure and properties of dextrin esters were investigated by structural, thermal, mechanical and hydrophobic analysis. The thermal stability of dextrin was enhanced by esterification, presenting ca. 40–60 °C higher decomposition temperatures than that of neat-dextrin. The transition temperatures of melting and crystallization were not observed for all dextrin esters because they were amorphous polymers. The glass transition temperature (Tg) was not observed in dextrin but was observed in dextrin esters. As increasing side-chain length, Tgs of dextrin esters decreased ranged from 162.2 °C (C2) to 49.2 °C (C12). Colorless and transparent dextrin ester films were prepared to measure the film properties. Tensile strength of dextrin ester films tended to decrease with increasing side-chain lengths, whereas the elongation at break increased. And, dextrin ester films showed significantly increased hydrophobicity with a contact angle of up to 102° (C12). 相似文献
