Water–ethanol permselectivity was investigated by pervaporation through composite membranes which were prepared by coating photocrosslinkable poly(vinyl alcohol) containing pendant styrylpyridinium group (0.86–3.93 mol %) on porous films. These membranes were water-permselective, and the selectivity was dependent on the state of membranes; namely, incorporation ratio of styrylpyridinium group on poly(vinyl alcohol), molecular weight of the base polymer, coating thickness of a photopolymer, etc. Photocrosslinkable styrylpyridinium group showed, of course, the ionic character by a pyridinium moiety to work on permseparation of water effectively as well as preventing the dissolution of membranes by crosslinking. Membranes based on the higher molecular weight poly(vinyl alcohol) (P = 1700) gave the higher permselectivity of water in general than those of lower molecular weight (P = 500) one. Swelling of the polymers reached 160%, and permeation rate through the membranes increased with the increase of swelling. Selective diffusion of water was found to take place in swelling, and to play a part in the water-permseparation through the membranes.  相似文献

Recent findings of extremely small diameter carbon nanotube and nanowire in the core of a multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) have attracted interests from broad range of researchers. Direct observation of carbon nanotube is usually done using a transmission electron microscope (TEM). When nanotubes become smaller, it becomes harder to correctly understand the TEM images, not only because of the weak scattering, but also due to the artifact that starts to appear because of the interference effect and the inappropriate defocus condition.In this study, we have shown that the artifact such as ghost fringes due to inappropriate defocus conditions of the TEM appear in the core of an MWCNT, and can be misinterpreted as either carbon nanowire or small carbon nanotube. It is also shown that, in the TEM image, it is hard to distinguish a single-walled nanotube bundle from a double-walled carbon nanotube bundle. Finally, we propose that the cross-sectional observation is necessary for the correct characterization of single- and double-walled carbon nanotube bundles.  相似文献

A systematic surface fluorination of high-density polyethylene was carried out using CF4, CF3H, CF3Cl, and CF3Br, in a radio-frequency glow discharge. Based on ESCA and wettability measurements, all of these compounds provided a fluorocarbon layer on high-density polyethylene surface, but the fluorine to carbon ratio and extractability of the films were strongly dependent on the starting materials and the location of the sample specimen in the reactor chamber as well as the duration of the reaction. The results with vertically held, CF3H-treated samples showed a high level of nonextractable surface fluorination and very little change in wetting properties before and after extraction with CF2ClCFCl2.  相似文献

Electrospray characteristics were studied using a pure room-temperature molten salt (i.e., an ionic liquid) at pressures around 10?5 Pa as well as at atmospheric pressure. The ionic liquid N,N-diethyl-N-methyl-N-(2-methoxyethyl)ammonium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide was tested, which has negligible vapor pressure and high conductivity. During electrospray, the ionic liquid was introduced at a constant flow rate into a stainless-steel capillary (i.d. 30 μm). It was demonstrated that stable electrosprayed currents exceeding ±1 μΑ were continuously produced in both positive and negative modes. The electrosprayed currents in a high vacuum were twice those at atmospheric pressure. It was found that gas pressure rose slightly with increasing electrosprayed currents. Residual gas analysis revealed that gas component at negative mode was different from that at positive mode. Experimental results indicate that vacuum electrospray of pure ionic liquids is applicable to a massive-cluster beam source for SIMS.  相似文献

Multimedia communication systems must handle two types of messages, one is data type and the other is voice type. Data type messages can tolerate longer delay but voice type ones cannot. Though communication systems with huge capacity by optical fibers and ATM switches have little problem for multimedia communication, most of the present LANs cannot handle messages, especially voice type ones, satisfactorily because of their poor capacity. In this paper we propose a new protocol for LANs, CSMA/CD‐DRC (Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Collision Detection and Dynamic Retransmission Control). This protocol is for the multimedia communication systems which must handle those two types of messages but do not have enough channel capacity, and controls retransmission rates dynamically to achieve higher throughput and shorter delay for voice type message. Moreover, we analyze the protocol in order to confirm its performance. In analysis we derive Laplace–Stieltjes transform (LST) of the probability distribution function (PDF) of the performance measures. Through LSTs, we can calculate not only averages but also higher moments of performance measures as well as coefficients of variation. We also present some numerical results, from which we find the proposed protocol can improve the system performance. Random mutagenesis on thermophilic 3-isopropylmalate dehydrogenases(IPMDH; EC 1.1.1.85) produced mutant enzymes which adapt tolow temperatures. These mutants had higher activity at lowertemperatures than the wild-type enzyme without losing high thermostability.Here we report three structures of the mutants of Thermus thermophilusIPMDH determined by X-ray diffraction which was adapted to alow-temperature environment. Two of them have unstable coenzymebinding states and the other one probably has a stable substratebinding state. The present research suggests that the adaptationis correlated with the binding of either coenzyme or the substrate.  相似文献

This paper aims to develop a systematized theory on the thinking process at the ‘very early stage of design.’ Here, ‘very’ is used to exaggerate the beginning of design, which includes the time just prior to or the precise beginning of the so-called conceptual design. First, concept generation is segregated into two phases—the problem-driven phase and the inner sense-driven phase. With regard to theoretical approach, the concept generation process is discussed by comparing metaphor, abduction, and general design theory from the perspective of similarities and dissimilarities. In addition, property mapping, concept blending, and concept integration in thematic relation are explained methodologically. So far, these theories and methods have been discussed independently, and the relations among them have not been clarified. As a result, it was found that the concept generation process could be categorized into two types: first-order concept generation and high-order concept generation. Furthermore, it was shown that high-order concept generation is related to the inner sense-driven phase, whereas first-order concept generation is related to the problem-driven phase.  相似文献

Predictions for oxidation behavior of Ni-base superalloys become more difficult than before because of the complex alloy composition. In this study, we focus on the initial oxidation behavior of Ni-base superalloys, and we suggest a new diagram to predict the initial oxide morphology of Ni-base superalloys with 63 binary, ternary, and multicomponent Ni-base single-crystal superalloys at 1373 K (1100 °C). As a comparison of observed and calculated weight changes after one cycle at 1373 K (1100 °C) obtained by a regression analysis, 63 alloys demonstrated two distinct behaviors, which are divided heretofore into group A and group B. Microstructural observation revealed that an oxide layer in the group A alloys consists of Al2O3 and/or spinel or complex oxide, whereas an oxide layer in the group B alloys consists of a thick NiO layer with an Al2O3 internal subscale. Thermodynamic properties can reflect more effects of alloy elements in Ni-base superalloys, and Al and Cr activities, calculated by Thermo-Calc, were used as factors to predict initial oxidation morphology. Groups A and B alloys can clearly be divided according to Al and Cr activities. This was suggested as a new diagram to predict the initial oxide morphology of Ni-base superalloys, and possibly it can apply for any generation of Ni-base superalloys.  相似文献
