Many community- and hospital-based group treatment programs have an open enrolment, that is, a rolling admissions structure, in which a group member who drops out or successfully completes therapy is replaced by another individual. Although practically efficient and perhaps clinically useful, the interdependence of these group participants' data may result in incorrect inferences drawn from the data analyses if this interdependence is not accounted for. We present an analytic strategy that uses time varying covariates in multilevel models to illustrate a methodology to address these data analysis problems. Participants were adults with eating disorders (N = 229) who attended an average of 12 weeks of a rolling admissions group-based day hospital program during an 8-year period, and who completed a group therapy alliance measure weekly. Individual alliance to the group increased from week to week, and this growth remained significant even after controlling for the time varying level of other group members' alliance to the group. Further, the level of an individual's alliance score during any given week was positively related to the group's alliance during that week. The multilevel time varying covariate models presented here add to a very small but emerging set of analytic strategies available for researchers to address some of the hurdles to correctly analyze data from rolling admissions group-based treatment programs. Results from this study provide evidence that a group's culture is passed on and affects an individual's alliance to the group despite changes in group membership. Femtosecond pulses from a Ti:Sapphire laser were used to irradiate specimens of yttria-stabilised (35% mol) tetragonal zirconia (Y-TZP) with the purpose of studying the effects of the irradiations on their surface properties and morphology after ageing. Zirconia disks were divided into eight groups (n = 32) according to their surface treatment and subsequent ageing: Control: no treatment; sandblasting: Al2O3 sandblasting 50 μm; and ultrashort laser pulses irradiation with 25 μJ pulses, considering two different scanning steps based on the width between two grooves. These groups were duplicated and submitted to ageing. The surfaces were analysed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and X-ray diffraction. A finite element analysis, a biaxial flexure test, as well as fractographic and Weibull analyses, were performed. The strengths of the disks were statistically different for the treatment factor, and the principal stresses seemed to be concentrated at the centre of the specimens, as predicted by the computer simulations. Ageing decreased the strengths for all groups and increased the Weibull modulus for the laser group with the 40 μm-width between two grooves. The sandblasting group presented the highest monoclinic phase peak. Although the most significant strength was found within the sandblasting group, the phase transformation was favourable to the laser groups. The Weibull modulus was higher for the laser group with the 60 μm-width between two grooves, confirming the highest homogeneity of its failure distribution. Regardless of the surface treatment, strength was decreased with ageing in all groups. The femtosecond Ti:Sa ultra-short pulse laser irradiation can be suggested as an alternative to the gold standard sandblasting in long-term Y-TZP zirconia rehabilitations, such as crowns and veneers.  相似文献

Current research on dental implants has mainly focused on the influence of surface roughness on the rate of osseointegration, while studies on the development of surfaces to also improve the interaction of peri-implant soft tissues are lacking. To this end, the first purpose of this study was to evaluate the response of human gingival fibroblasts (hGDFs) to titanium implant discs (Implacil De Bortoli, Brazil) having different micro and nano-topography: machined (Ti-M) versus sandblasted/double-etched (Ti-S). The secondary aim was to investigate the effect of the macrogeometry of the discs on cells: linear-like (Ti-L) versus wave-like (Ti-W) surfaces. The atomic force microscopy (AFM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis showed that the Ti-S surfaces were characterized by a significantly higher micro and nano roughness and showed the 3D macrotopography of Ti-L and Ti-W surfaces. For in vitro analyses, the hGDFs were seeded into titanium discs and analyzed at 1, 3, and 5 days for adhesion and morphology (SEM) viability and proliferation (Cck-8 and MTT assays). The results showed that all tested surfaces were not cytotoxic for the hGDFs, rather the nano-micro and macro topography favored their proliferation in a time-dependent manner. Especially, at 3 and 5 days, the number of cells on Ti-L was higher than on other surfaces, including Ti-W surfaces. In conclusion, although further studies are needed, our in vitro data proved that the use of implant discs with Ti-S surfaces promotes the adhesion and proliferation of gingival fibroblasts, suggesting their use for in vivo applications.  相似文献

Plasma fatty acid (FA) composition is known to be an indicator of dietary fat quality, but the associations of other dietary factors with plasma FA composition remain unknown in children. We investigated the cross-sectional associations of food consumption with the proportions of FA and estimated desaturase activities in plasma cholesteryl esters (CE) and phospholipids (PL) among children. The subjects were a population sample of 423 children aged 6–8 years examined at baseline of The Physical Activity and Nutrition in Children (PANIC) Study. We assessed food consumption by food records and plasma FA composition by gas chromatography. We used linear regression models adjusted for age, sex, physical activity and total energy intake to analyze the associations. A higher consumption of vegetable oil-based margarine (fat 60–80 %) was associated with a higher proportion of linoleic and α-linolenic acids in plasma CE and PL. A higher consumption of high-fiber grain products was related to a lower proportion of oleic acid in CE and PL. The consumption of candy was directly associated with the proportion of palmitoleic and oleic acid in plasma CE. The consumption of vegetable oil-based margarine was inversely associated with estimated stearoyl-CoA-desaturase activity in plasma CE and PL and the consumption of candy was directly related to it in plasma CE. The results of our study suggest that plasma FA composition is not only a biomarker for dietary fat quality but also reflects the consumption of high-fiber grain products and foods high in sugar among children.  相似文献

Two basic activated carbons (Na+ and Cs+-Norit) have been used as catalysts in the synthesis of N-propargyl imidazole. The effect of the microwave irradiation has been studied. Under the experimental conditions used higher yields and selectivities of N-propargyl imidazole than those obtained using other basic media were reached. The carbons were characterized by thermal analysis, nitrogen adsorption and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Most of the basic sites in the promoted carbons have 13.3≤pKa≤16.5. The order or basicity is Na+-Norit+-Norit. The basicity enhancement is directly connected with the size of the alkaline cation. The yield of the N-propargyl imidazole presents a maximum for 0.04 g of Cs+-Norit at 300 W in only 3 min of microwave irradiation.  相似文献

The role of Nb2O5 and γ-Al2O3 oxide supports on the ammoxidation of propane on supported mixed Sb–V oxide at different Sb+V surface coverages is studied. Sb and V oxide species on alumina and on niobia support show different structural features that reflect in different performance during the ammoxidation of propane to acrylonitrile. Niobia-supported catalysts are much more selective to acrylonitrile than alumina-supported ones. Alumina interacts weakly with the supported oxides while niobia forms new phases through solid state reactions with the supported oxides during catalytic operation that must account for its higher selectivity values towards acrylonitrile and higher specific rate of acrylonitrile formation per vanadium site.  相似文献

Changes of copper location in CuY zeolites induced by preparation methods   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
The location of transition ions in copper- and copper-zinc-loaded Y type zeolites prepared by different procedures has been studied by temperature-programmed reduction, infrared spectroscopy of CO adsorbed on pretreated samples and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Samples outgassed at 673 K showed Cu+ species due likely to reduction of Cu2+ ions under vacuum. Over exchanged CuY zeolites copper species in exchange sites were detected, while an impregnated sample exhibited bands of CO adsorbed on both Cu2+ and Cu+ ions developed at the surface of CuO crystals, and small proportions of Cu+ ions located in accessible exchange sites SII and SnII. Similar findings were observed in Zn- and Cu-exchanged zeolites although the relative proportion of Cu in SI positions was decreased due to competition between Cu2+ and Zn2+ ions. Samples reduced in hydrogen at 523 K showed the appearance of Cu0 species in impregnated samples, whereas Cu+ dominated in the exchanged counterparts. Reduction at 598 K led to substantial changes in Cu-exchanged samples in water. The proportion of Cu+ species decreased by reduction to Cu0 and simultaneously migration to Cu+ to SII sites occurred. While Cu2+ or Cu+ were found on outgassed samples, only Cu0 and intrazeolite Cu+ were observed after H2-reduction at 623 K. Changes in copper exposure as a function of sample pretreatments were also revealed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy.  相似文献

Saturated fatty acids are the most abundant fatty acids in the brain, however, there has been some debate regarding the ability of intact dietary saturated fatty acids to be incorporated into the brain. In the present study, we use compound specific isotope analysis to measure the natural abundance carbon isotopic signature of brain, liver, and blood palmitic acid (PAM) and compare it to the dietary PAM and sugar isotopic signatures to calculate the relative contribution of both the incorporation of intact and endogenously synthesized PAM to these pools. Mice were equilibrated to the study diet, and extracted fatty acids were analyzed with gas chromatography isotope ratio mass spectrometry to determine the carbon isotopic signature of PAM (δ13CPAM). Liver, serum total, and serum unesterified fatty acid δ13CPAM ranged between ?20.6 and ?21.1 mUr and were approximately 8.5 mUr more enriched in 13C when compared to the dietary PAM signature. Brain δ13CPAM was found to be more enriched than liver or blood pools (?16.7 ± 0.2 mUr, mean ± SD). Two end‐member‐mixed modeling using the carbon isotopic signature of dietary PAM and dietary sugars determined the contribution of synthesis to the total tissue PAM pool to range between 44% and 48%. This suggests that endogenous synthesis and dietary PAM are near equal contributors to brain, liver, and blood PAM pools. In conclusion, our data provide evidence that brain PAM levels are maintained by both local endogenous synthesis and through the uptake of intact PAM from the blood.  相似文献
