The authenticity of food is currently a major issue for researchers, consumers, industries and policy markers at all levels of the production process. Particularly in the meat industry, products from game animals are susceptible targets for fraudulent labeling due to the economic profit that results from selling cheaper meat as meat from more profitable and desirable species. A part from meat species adulteration, illegal poaching of endangered game species may take place contributing to threat of wildlife populations. These reasons have encouraged the development of methods to ensure fair trade and labeling of game meats from production level to consumer use of end products. In the last years, full attention has been turning towards implementation of molecular genetic approaches for meat species identification because of their high sensitivity and specificity, as well as rapid processing time and low cost. This work presents an overview of the main PCR-based techniques applied to date to verify the authenticity of meat and meat products from game species.  相似文献

Chromate sorption on pyridine strong base anion exchangers with different functional groups (methyl, ethyl, and butyl groups), at the quaternary nitrogen atoms, was studied as a function of various initial concentrations (100–1500 mg Cr/L) and counterion type. The studied resins in the Cl?[ form have higher Cr(VI)‐retention capacities than those in the SO form. The pyridine strong base anion exchangers showed a selectivity reversal for the sulfate and chromate anions compared to that of the commercial resins. The alkyl substituent length of the quaternary nitrogen atoms exerted a substantial influence on the Cr(VI)‐retention capacity values for the resins in the Cl? form; the chromate anions preferred resins with methyl functional groups, that is, resins with a greater hydrophilic structure. For the resins in the SO form the length of the substituent at the quaternary nitrogen atom had only a negligible influence on their Cr(VI)‐retention values. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Highly thermostable low-k polymer films with potential applications as dielectric materials in microelectronic industry were synthesized starting from 9,9-bis[4-(3,4-dicarboxyphenoxy)phenyl]fluorene dianhydride and various diamines. A polyetherimide/silica nanocomposite film was obtained using methyltriethoxysilane as precursor of inorganic phase. The chemical structure was confirmed by FTIR and 1H NMR spectroscopy. Water vapor's sorption capacity, thermal stability, glass transition temperature, thermal diffusivity, specific heat, thermal conductivity, and dielectric characteristics of the films were determined. All the films exhibited excellent thermal stability, with an initial decomposition temperature in the range of 500–530°C. They showed low dielectric constant of 1.98–2.86 and low dielectric loss of 0.0037–0.011, at a frequency of 1 Hz and room temperature. The subglass γ- and β-relaxations, primary α-relaxation, and conductivity relaxation processes were discussed according to the chemical structure of the samples. Quantitative structure–property relationship (QSPR) study was conducted, and linear regression models were formulated to describe the causal relationships between different parameters and polyetherimide properties.  相似文献

Epoxy/clay nanocomposites (NC) have become a very interesting topic among researchers in the past two decades because nanoclays have a positive effect on the mechanical, thermal and especially barrier and anticorrosive performances of the polymers. In this study epoxy NCs and NC-based epoxy coatings were prepared by the solution intercalation method using Cloisite 30B as nanoclay. WAXD and SEM analyses revealed that a mainly exfoliated structure was obtained in epoxy NC with 1 wt% clay content, while higher clay loadings reduced the number of exfoliated clay nanolayers and produced a mainly intercalated structure. EIS, TGA and DMA analyses showed that epoxy NCs with clay content below 5 wt% exhibited increased corrosion stability, thermal stability, glass transition temperature (Tg) and storage modulus (G′), in both glassy and rubbery states due to the nanoscale dispersion of Cloisite 30B and the barrier effect of individual nanolayers. Enhanced mechanical properties were also noticed at higher clay loadings, but the rate of improvement was lower. The highest extent of exfoliation and the most homogeneous macromolecular network was found for NC with 1 wt% of clay, leading to the highest improvement of thermal and anticorrosive properties. The salt spray test results showed that anticorrosive properties of epoxy coatings in the presence of 3 wt% and especially 1 wt% of Cloisite 30B were significantly better, thus indicating that nanoclay efficiently modifies the commercial epoxy coatings.  相似文献

In this paper, we present PyPANCG, a Python library-interface that implements both the conjugate gradient method and the preconditioned conjugate gradient method for solving nonlinear systems. We describe the use of the library and its advantages in order to get fast development. The aim of this library is to develop high performance scientific codes for high-end computers hiding many of the underlying low-level programming complexities from users with the use of a high-level Python interface. The library has been designed for adapting to different stages of the design process, depending on whether the purpose is computational performance or fast development. Experimental results report the performance of our approach on different parallel computers.  相似文献

Derivatives of tirapazamine and other heteroaromatic N-oxides (ArN→O) exhibit tumoricidal, antibacterial, and antiprotozoal activities, which are typically attributed to bioreductive activation and free radical generation. In this work, we aimed to clarify the role of NAD(P)H:quinone oxidoreductase (NQO1) in ArN→O aerobic cytotoxicity. We synthesized 9 representatives of ArN→O with uncharacterized redox properties and examined their single-electron reduction by rat NADPH:cytochrome P-450 reductase (P-450R) and Plasmodium falciparum ferredoxin:NADP+ oxidoreductase (PfFNR), and by rat NQO1. NQO1 catalyzed both redox cycling and the formation of stable reduction products of ArN→O. The reactivity of ArN→O in NQO1-catalyzed reactions did not correlate with the geometric average of their activity towards P-450R- and PfFNR, which was taken for the parameter of their redox cycling efficacy. The cytotoxicity of compounds in murine hepatoma MH22a cells was decreased by antioxidants and the inhibitor of NQO1, dicoumarol. The multiparameter regression analysis of the data of this and a previous study (DOI: 10.3390/ijms20184602) shows that the cytotoxicity of ArN→O (n = 18) in MH22a and human colon carcinoma HCT-116 cells increases with the geometric average of their reactivity towards P-450R and PfFNR, and with their reactivity towards NQO1. These data demonstrate that NQO1 is a potentially important target of action of heteroaromatic N-oxides.  相似文献

Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF-MS) as a new valuable technique has been used for qualitative screening of anthocyanins in wine and grape samples from Vranec and Merlot variety. For that purpose, different MALDI matrices have been tested, such as α-cyano-4-hydroxycinnamic acid, sinapic acid, 2,5-dihydroxybenzoic acid (2,5-DHB), and C70 fullerene. It was observed that 2,5-DHB was superior with respect to all the matrices used in the study. Furthermore, fullerene was, for the first time, tested and used as a possible matrix for MALDI-TOF-MS identification of anthocyanins in wine and grape samples. The results obtained showed identification of aglycone forms of anthocyanins only, since the higher laser energy applied for ionization of the fullerene molecules led to great deal of fragmentation of the sugar moiety from glucosides, acetylglucoside, and p-coumaroylglucoside groups from the corresponding anthocyanin molecules. Additionally, liquid chromatography/electrospray ionization mass spectrometry has also been applied for anthocyanin characterization.  相似文献

Salt-induced hypertension has been demonstrated in a variety of species including rats, monkeys, chimpanzees and humans. Until recently, the multiple phases of this blood pressure increase due to high salt intake had not been closely studied. This work builds upon a recent study, which developed a grey-box multi-component model of salt-induced hypertension in the Dahl-S rat. The previous 3-component model has been extended here to include additional model dynamics to improve the model fit and add new important elements to the model response. The model was optimised using numerical techniques with experimental data from 4 different protocols with Dahl-S, Dahl-R and FF2 hybrid rats. Results show a marked improvement over the previous model and confirm the merit of the 5-component model structure. A comparison between the model dynamics for different rat strains has also been included.  相似文献
