The up-link bandwidth in satellite networks and in advanced traffic wireless information system is very limited. A server broadcasts data files provided by different independent providers and accessed by many clients in a round-robin manner. The clients who access these files may have different patterns of access. Some clients may wish to access several files in any order (AND), some wish to access one out of several files (OR), and some clients may access a second file only after accessing another file (IMPLY). The goal of the server is to order the files in a way that minimizes the access time of the clients given some a priori knowledge of their access patterns. An appropriate clients–servers model was recently proposed by Bay-Noy, Naor and Schieber. They formulated three separate problems and proposed an algorithm that evaluates certain number of random permutations and chooses the one whose access time is minimized. In this paper, we formulate a combined AOI (AND-OR-IMPLY) problem, and propose to apply a parallel hill climbing algorithm (to each of the four problems), which begins from certain number of random permutations, and then applies hill climbing technique on each of them until there is no more improvement. The evaluation time of neighboring permutations generated in hill climbing process is optimized, so that it requires O(n) time per permutation instead of O(n
2) time required for evaluating access time of a random permutation, where n is the number of files the server broadcasts. Experiments indicate that the parallel hill climbing algorithm is O(n) times faster that random permutations method, both in terms of time needed to evaluate the same number of permutations, and time needed to provide a high quality solution. Materials with broad absorption bands are highly desirable for electromagnetic filtering and processing applications, especially if the absorption can be externally controlled. Here, a new class of broadband‐absorption materials is introduced. Namely, layered metamagnets exhibit an electromagnetic excitation continuum in the magnetic‐field‐induced mixed ferro‐ and antiferromagnetic phase. Employing a series of complementary experimental techniques involving neutron scattering, muon spin relaxation, specific heat, ac and dc magnetization measurements, and electron magnetic resonance, a detailed magnetic phase diagram of Cu3Bi(SeO3)2O2Br is determined and it is found that the excitations in the mixed phase extend over at least ten decades of frequency. The results, which reveal a new dynamical aspect of the mixed phase in metamagnets, open up a novel approach to controllable microwave filtering. 相似文献

The chemical quantitative composition, phase constitution, and crystal structure of doped with In lead telluride films on Si (1 0 0) or SiO2/Si (1 0 0) substrates have been studied in this work. By EPMA and atomic absorption measurements, it has been found that the concentration of In atoms yIn varied from 0.0011 to 0.045 in these deposited Pb1−yInyTe films. The results of EPMA, SEM, and X-ray diffraction (XRD) measurements show that formation of In solid solutions in lead telluride matrix revealed not only in PbTe–InTe cross-section, but in PbTe–In2Te3 pseudobinary system also. The results of XRD show that the lattice parameter aPbTe of PbTeIn/Si and PbTeIn/SiO2/Si heterostructures is described by nonmonotone function and does not obey the Vegard's law within concentration interval 0.0011yIn0.045. 相似文献

Thin organic films find expanding applications in electronic and optoelectronic devices, biotechnology, food packing, and for many other purposes. Among other factors, the stability of films with a thickness below a micrometer is determined by the zero-point and thermal fluctuations of the electromagnetic field. These fluctuations result in the van der Waals and Casimir free energy and forces between a film and a substrate. The fluctuation-induced force may be both attractive and repulsive making the film either more or less stable, respectively. Here, we review recently obtained results for the Casimir free energy of both freestanding and deposited on the metallic and dielectric substrates peptide films. We also perform computations for the free energy of the peptide films deposited on a silica glass substrate in the region of parameters where this free energy vanishes. The problem of non-stationary interference suppression in direct sequence spread-spectrum (DS-SS) systems is considered. The phase of interference is approximated by a polynomial within the considered interval. According to the local polynomial Fourier transform (LPFT) principle, the received signal is dechirped by using the obtained phase approximation and the interference is, in turn, suppressed by excising the corrupted low-pass frequency band. For the estimation of polynomial coefficients, we use the product high-order ambiguity function (PHAF), known for its capability to successfully resolve components of a multicomponent polynomial-phase signal (PPS). The proposed method can suppress interferences with both polynomial and non-polynomial phase. In addition, it can suppress both monocomponent and multicomponent interferences. The simulations show that the proposed method outperforms time-frequency (TF) methods, that successfully deal with multicomponent interferences, in terms of the error probability and computational complexity. 相似文献

Theory and simulation of a thermally matched micromachined thermopile in a wearable energy harvester
In this paper, a new theoretical concept in the thermoelectric theory is discussed, which is important for design optimization of a thermoelectric energy harvester. The general conditions are defined, which are required to make a thermoelectric converter effective in energy harvester application. The necessity of the work has been prompted by the fact that while modeling the harvesters neither a constant temperature difference nor a constant heat flow can be assumed. It is shown that the proposed equations allow thermal optimization of energy harvesters to reach their top performance characteristics. The example of thermal optimization in case of MEMS thermopiles is discussed then. It is shown that the knowledge of thermal properties of the environment, i.e., those of a heat source and a heat sink, play the key role in the optimization procedure. 相似文献

Theoretical and experimental results of an investigation into a new resonant system have been obtained. This system is named the sphere-corner-echelette open resonator (SCEOR) due to the employment of a mirror that was formed by two echelettes at the angles of 45° to the resonator axis. It turns ont that this resonator is excited on the specific modes not unique to others oscillating systems. There are presented the results of the experimental research of the orotron oscillator with the SCEOR. The spectrum of this device contains only the fundamental modes such as theT E M 006,T E M 007,T E M 008. The efficiency of the orotron is improved, when all other factors are the same the orotron with a much used sphere-cylindrical open resonator. 相似文献
