A SiC fiber-reinforced composite containing a SiC-ZrB2 mixed matrix (SiCf/(SiC-ZrB2)) with high density and enhanced mechanical properties was fabricated. ZrB2 at 5 or 40?vol% was added to a (SiC + C) slurry to be infiltrated into the voids of 2D woven Tyranno?-SA grade-3 fabrics by electrophoretic deposition. Subsequent hot pressing at 1300?°C and 10?MPa for 1?h, followed by liquid silicon infiltration (LSI) at 1600?°C for 5?h in an Ar atmosphere resulted in the formation of the reaction-bonded SiC matrix, which revealed a composite density close to 97%. SiCf/(SiC-ZrB2) having open porosities of 0.2–0.6% showed peak strengths of 398 and 320?MPa for 5 and 40?vol% ZrB2 addition, respectively. The large mismatch in the coefficient of thermal expansion and Young's modulus between the SiC and ZrB2 phases was attributed to a reverse trend in the strength of composites. Brittle behavior of the composites in flexure can be explained by the strong bonding between the matrix and fibers formed by the reaction of interphase with molten Si during LSI. Strength retention after oxidation at 1000 and 1400?°C for 2?h was also compared in terms of ZrB2 amount contained in the composites.  相似文献

The aims of this study were to investigate the effects of Lactobacillus plantarum DR7 isolated from bovine milk against upper respiratory tract infections (URTI) and elucidate the possible mechanisms underlying immunomodulatory properties. The DR7 strain (9 log cfu/d) was administered for 12 wk in a randomized, double-blind, and placebo-controlled human study involving 109 adults (DR7, n = 56; placebo, n = 53). Subjects were assessed for health conditions monthly via questionnaires, and blood samples were evaluated for cytokine concentrations, peroxidation and oxidative stress, and gene expression in T cells and natural killer (NK) cells. The administration of DR7 reduced the duration of nasal symptoms (mean difference 5.09 d; 95% CI: 0.42–9.75) and the frequency of URTI (mean difference 0.32; 95% CI: 0.01–0.63) after 12 and 4 wk, respectively, compared with the placebo. The DR7 treatment suppressed plasma proinflammatory cytokines (IFN-γ, TNF-α) in middle-aged adults (30 to 60 yr old), while enhancing anti-inflammatory cytokines (IL-4, IL-10) in young adults (<30 yr old), accompanied by reduced plasma peroxidation and oxidative stress levels compared with the placebo. Young adults who received DR7 showed higher expression of plasma CD44 and CD117 by 4.50- and 2.22-fold, respectively, compared with the placebo. Meanwhile, middle-aged adults showed lower expression of plasma CD4 and CD8 by 11.26- and 1.80-fold, respectively, compared with the placebo, indicating less T-cell activation. In contrast, both young and middle-aged adults who received DR7 showed enhanced presence of nonresting and mature NK cells compared with those who received the placebo. We postulate that DR7 alleviated the symptoms of URTI by improving inflammatory parameters and enhancing immunomodulatory properties.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: The aim of this work was to investigate the effect of the maturation process of the olive fruit on oil content, phenolic profile and antioxidant activity of four Tunisian cultivars (Zelmati, Chemchali, Chemlali and Chétoui). RESULTS: The average oil content of the studied varieties ranged between 17.50% and 20.25% at the first stage of maturation and from 30.20% to 35% in the last harvest. Qualitative and quantitative analysis of phenolic compounds were carried out using HPLC and LC‐MS/MS. Twenty‐six biophenolic compounds were identified. In all samples, hydroxytyrosol and oleuropein were the major compounds identified while rutin and luteolin 7‐O‐glucoside were the two main flavonoids. The total phenolic content varied from 3.46 to 4.30 g kg?1 at the first stage of maturation and from 8.71 to 11.52 g kg?1 of fruit fresh weight at the last maturation phase. Total flavonoid content reached 432.80 mg kg?1. The antioxidant activity of the extract was evaluated by DPPH and ABTS assays. The IC50 values of the olive extracts ranged from 2.69 to 10.96 µg L?1 and from 2.15 to 3.03 mmol L?1 trolox equivalent at the last stage of maturation. CONCLUSION: A relationship between the changes in phenolic content and the physicochemical changes in Tunisian olive fruit during maturation was established. These findings could be used for controlling the production processes and correlating the oil sensorial characteristics to the polyphenolic pattern. Exoelectrogens are catalytic microorganisms competent to shuttle electrons exogenously to the electrode surface without utilizing artificial mediators. Diverse microorganisms acting as exoelectrogens in the fluctuating ambience of microbial fuel cells (MFCs) propose unalike metabolic pathways and incompatible, specific proteins or genes for their inevitable performance toward bioelectricity generation. A pivotal mechanism known as quorum sensing allows bacterial population to communicate and regulates the expression of biofilm‐related genes. Moreover, it has been found that setting the anode potential affects the metabolism of the exoelectrogens and hence the output of MFCs. Microscopic, spectrometry investigations and gene deletion studies have confirmed the expression of certain genes for outer‐membrane multiheme cytochromes and conductive pili, and their potential roles in the exoelectrogenic activity. Further, cyclic voltammetry has suggested the role of multifarious redox‐active compounds secreted by the exoelectrogens in direct electron transport mechanisms. Besides, it also explores the various mechanisms of exoelectrogens with genetic and molecular approaches, such as biofilm formation, microbial metabolism, bioelectrogenesis, and electron transfer mechanisms from inside the exoelectrogens to the electrodes and vice versa. In the present article we present computational and experimental investigations of a turbulent asymmetric vortex flame. Such flame was created in a novel asymmetric combustor, which is described for the first time in this article. The three dimensional isothermal and reacting flow fields have been described using a computational methodology that impalements the Rε/k − ε and the eddy dissipation turbulence and combustion models, respectively. The computational model is validated for both isothermal and reacting flows. Additionally, the visible flame structure was captured by direct photography at a wide range of equivalence ratios in order to emphasize the exceptional stability of such flame. The mechanism of flame stability and interaction with the forced vortex field is preliminarily discussed. Finally, the basic characteristics of the asymmetric vortex flames are concluded.  相似文献

An experimental investigation is carried out to study the effects on joint conductance of progressive loading and unloading, cyclic loading and overloading to a predetermined value. The test pair used is AISI 304 stainless steel, bead blasted to an effective rms surface roughness of 7.55 μm and a slope of 0.36 rad. In all cases a hysteresis loop is seen to exist for the loading unloading cycle and is seen to decrease with increasing number of cycles. The conductance values eventually appear to settle down to values higher than those obtained during first loading. Enhancement of contact conductance by cyclic loading is found to be rather small. On the other hand overloading the test pairs to a predetermined contact pressure is found to be promising.  相似文献

The main objective of the study was to determine the kinetics of the polyphenol oxidation reaction in cocoa beans during air drying at various air temperatures and humidities. The temperatures used were between 40 and 60 °C and the relative humidities were between 50 and 80%. The higher the temperature and relative humidity of the drying air, the lower the amount of polyphenol residue in the cocoa beans, because of enzymatic oxidation of polyphenols. At higher drying temperatures, non‐enzymatic oxidation of polyphenols could also occur. Computer simulation results gave rate constants for the polyphenol oxidation reaction (k1) and the condensation reaction (k2), at various air conditions, in the range of 0.055–0.200 and 0.136–0.155 h?1 respectively. The activation energies obtained for the polyphenol oxidation reaction were in the range of 27 800–30 312 J K?1 mol?1. The reaction kinetics of the enzymatic browning reaction fitted a pseudo first‐order reaction.  相似文献
