ABSTRACT

The basic principles of brushless doubly-fed machine (BDFM) synchronous operation are used to establish the essential components of the rotor configuration and alternative types of construction are examined. Certain forms, which appear to be physically realizable only with wound or fabricated rotors, are dismissed in favor of others which may be fabricated or die-cast in a manner similar to the cage rotors of conventional induction machines.

A detailed simulation model is used to predict the performance of a proof-of-concept laboratory machine in a motoring mode which has been correlated with test data. Various developments and options of the rotor configuration are then examined for relative performance at two different speeds using the modeling techniques. The design features considered include (i) alternative interpretations of the nested-loop configuration requirement, (ii) number of rotor loops per nest, (iii) location (span) of rotor loops, and (iv) conductor section of specific rotor bars and end rings.  相似文献

In this work, we study metal droplets on a semiconductor surface that are the initial stage for both droplet epitaxy and local droplet etching. The distributions of droplet geometrical parameters such as height, radius and volume help to understand the droplet formation that strongly influences subsequent nanohole etching. To investigate the etching and intermixing processes, we offer a new method of wetting angle analysis. The aspect ratio that is defined as the ratio of the height to radius was used as an estimation of wetting angle which depends on the droplet material. The investigation of the wetting angle and the estimation of indium content revealed significant materials intermixing during the deposition time. AFM measurements reveal the presence of two droplet groups that is in agreement with nanohole investigations. To explain this observation, we consider arsenic evaporation and consequent change in the initial substrate. On the basis of our analysis, we suggest the model of droplet evolution and the formation of two droplet groups.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE: To examine the associations of diet and other lifestyle factors with body mass index (BMI) using data from the Oxford Vegetarian Study. SUBJECTS: 1914 male and 3378 female non-smokers aged 20-89 y at recruitment to the study. MEASUREMENTS: All subjects completed a diet/lifestyle questionnaire at recruitment giving details of their usual diet and other characteristics including height and weight, smoking and drinking habits, amount of exercise, occupation and reproductive history. Answers to the food frequency questionnaire were used to classify subjects as either meat eaters or non-meat eaters, and to estimate intakes of animal fat and dietary fibre. Subjects were further classified according to their alcohol consumption, exercise level, social class, past smoking habits and parity. RESULTS: Mean BMI was lower in non-meat eaters than in meat eaters in all age groups for both men and women. Overall age-adjusted mean BMIs in kg/m2 were 23.18 and 22.05 for male meat eaters and non-meat eaters respectively (P < 0.0001) and 22.32 and 21.32 for female meat eaters and non-meat eaters respectively (P < 0.0001). In addition to meat consumption, dietary fibre intake, animal fat intake, social class and past smoking were all independently associated with BMI in both men and women; alcohol consumption was independently associated with BMI in men, and parity was independently associated with BMI in women. After adjusting for these factors, the differences in mean BMI between meat eaters and non-meat eaters were reduced by 36% in men and 31% in women. CONCLUSIONS: Non-meat eaters are thinner than meat eaters. This may be partly due to a higher intake of dietary fibre, a lower intake of animal fat, and only in men a lower intake of alcohol.  相似文献

In order to gain a better understanding of how auditory nonlinear phenomena vary as a function of location along the cochlea, several psychophysical measures of nonlinearity were examined as a function of signal frequency. Six normal-hearing individuals completed three experiments, each designed to measure one aspect of nonlinear behavior: (1) the effects of level on frequency selectivity in simultaneous masking, measured using notched-noise maskers at spectrum levels of 30 and 50 dB, (2) two-tone suppression, measured using forward maskers at the signal frequency (fs) and suppressor tones above fs, and (3) growth of masking, measured using forward maskers below fs at a signal/masker frequency ratio of 1.44. Four signal frequencies (375, 750, 1500, and 3000 Hz) were tested to sample the nonlinear behavior at different locations along the basilar membrane, in order to test the hypothesis that the apical (low-frequency) region of the cochlea behaves more linearly than the basal (high-frequency) region. In general, all three measures revealed a progressive increase in nonlinear behavior as signal frequency increased, with little or no nonlinearity at the lowest frequency, consistent with the hypothesis.  相似文献

We describe 6 newborns evaluated for hypotonia, later diagnosed with Prader-Willi syndrome despite the absence of the classical neonatal features of this syndrome. Specific genetic testing for Prader-Willi syndrome should be considered for all neonates with undiagnosed central hypotonia even in the absence of the other major features of this syndrome.  相似文献

We have investigated the role of the small GTP-binding protein Rho in cytokinesis by microinjecting an inhibitor, C3 ribosyltransferase, into cultured cells. Microinjection of C3 into prometaphase or metaphase normal rat kidney epithelial cells induced immediate and global cortical movement of actin toward the metaphase plate, without an apparent effect on the mitotic spindle. During anaphase, concentrated cortical actin filaments migrated with separating chromosomes, leaving no apparent concentration of actin filaments along the equator. Myosin II in injected epithelial cells showed a diffuse distribution throughout cell division. All treated, well-adherent cells underwent cleavage-like activities and most of them divided successfully. However, cytokinesis became abnormal, generating irregular ingressions and ectopic cleavage sites even when mitosis was blocked with nocodazole. The effects of C3 appeared to be dependent on cell adhesion; less adherent 3T3 fibroblasts exhibited irregular cortical ingression only when cells started to increase attachment during respreading, but managed to complete cytokinesis. Poorly adherent HeLa cells showed neither ectopic cleavage nor completion of cytokinesis. Our results indicate that Rho does not simply activate actin-myosin II interactions during cytokinesis, but regulates the spatial pattern of cortical activities and completion of cytokinesis possibly through modulating the mechanical strength of the cortex.  相似文献

In addition to its role in receptor binding, the envelope glycoprotein of certain human immunodeficiency virus type 2 (HIV-2) isolates, including ROD10, exhibits a biological activity that enhances the release of HIV-2, HIV-1, and simian immunodeficiency virus particles from infected cells. The present study aims at better defining the functional domains involved in this biological activity. To this end, we have characterized the envelope protein of the ROD14 isolate of HIV-2, which, despite 95% homology with the ROD10 envelope at the amino acid level, is unable to enhance viral particle release. Site-directed mutagenesis showed that the presence of a truncation in the cytoplasmic tail of the ROD14 envelope was not responsible for the lack of activity, as previously reported for the HIV-2 ST isolate (G. D. Ritter, Jr., G. Yamshchikov, S. J. Cohen, and M. J. Mulligan, J. Virol. 70:2669-2673, 1996). Similarly, several modifications of the length of the ROD10 envelope cytoplasmic tail did not impair its ability to enhance particle release, suggesting that, in the case of the HIV-2 ROD isolate, particle release activity is not regulated by the length of the cytoplasmic tail.  相似文献

A retrospective analysis of seven patients with clinically severe trigonocephaly was performed, including a review of preoperative and postoperative computed tomography scans. A method of analyzing the trigonocephalic deformity was developed. This is based on determination of the angular severity of the forehead (110 +/- 4 degrees) and the length of half of the supraorbital bar (40 +/- 3 mm). This central angle was found to be relatively constant in this population. Using simple trigonometric relationships, a rationale for the alternative method of reconstruction used in these patients is presented. This technique is based on transverse expansion of the supraorbital bar, transposition of the lateral orbital rim, expansion of the temporal fossa, and recontouring the orbital aperture. As a separate consideration and step, the bony interorbital distance is widened.  相似文献
