In this study, the behavior of carbon steel and galvanized steel in nontropical coastal marine environments was evaluated. Evaluation was carried out with specimens with dimensions of 10 cm × 10 cm × 0.3 cm. These specimens were exposed to four testing stations (Iquique, Mejillones, Los Vilos, and San Vicente), where racks were installed both at ground level (ground), as well as in the upper zone of electrical transmission towers (tower). In each station, 24 specimens of A36 carbon steel and galvanized steel were placed (12 each). The corrosivity of the environment was measured using the ISO 9223, 9225, and 9226 standards. The specimens were evaluated on-site, monthly, through visual inspection and photographic record. Once withdrawn, the corrosion rate was determined and the corrosion products were analyzed through Raman and Fourier-transform infrared. The results show that, in all cases, the corrosion rate is greater in the tower than on the ground. However, even though the Los Vilos station is located farther from the sea (3,500 vs. ≈500 m), the corrosion rate of steel in the tower is the highest. This is caused by the generation of HCl from the transformation of lepidocrocite into goethite, in the presence of low chloride content, which acidifies the steel/corrosion product interface. In the case of galvanized steel, the corrosion rate is a function of the chloride content in the atmosphere, obtaining an excellent correlation between both parameters.  相似文献

While nature has optimized its antifouling strategies over millions of years, synthetic antifouling coatings have not yet reached technological maturity. For an antifouling coating to become technically feasible, it should fulfill many requirements: high effectiveness, long‐term stability, durability, ecofriendliness, large‐scale applicability, and more. It is therefore not surprising that the search for the perfect antifouling coating has been going on for decades. With the discovery of metal‐based antifouling paints in the 1970s, fouling was thought to be a problem of the past, yet its untargeted toxicity led to serious ecological concern, and its use became prohibited. As a response, research shifted focus toward a biocompatible alternative: polymer‐based antifouling coatings. This has resulted in numerous advanced and innovative antifouling strategies, including fouling‐resistant, fouling‐release, and fouling‐degrading coatings. Here, these novel and exciting discoveries are highlighted while simultaneously assessing their antifouling performance and practical feasibility.  相似文献

Bathymetry estimated from optical satellite imagery has been increasingly implemented as an alternative to traditional bathymetric survey techniques. The availability of new sensors such as Sentinel-2 with improved spatial and temporal resolution, in comparison with previous optical sensors, offers innovative capabilities for bathymetry derivation. This study presents an assessment of the fit between satellite data and the underlying models in the most widely used empirical algorithms: the linear band model and the log-transformed band ratio model using Sentinel-2A data. Both models were tested in two study areas of the Irish coast with different morphological and environmental conditions. Results showed that the linear band model fitted better than the log-transformed band ratio model providing coefficient of determination values, R2, between 0.83 and 0.88 (0 m–10 m) for the five images considered in the study. The closest fit was found in the depth range 2 m–6 m. Atmospheric correction, bottom type influence, and water column conditions proved to be key factors in the bathymetric derivation using these satellite datasets.  相似文献

This study aims at identifying the best object-based fusion strategy that takes advantage of the complementarity of several heterogeneous airborne data sources for improving the classification of 15 tree species in an urban area (Toulouse, France). The airborne data sources are: hyperspectral Visible Near-Infrared (160 spectral bands, spatial resolution of 0.4 m) and Short-Wavelength Infrared (256 spectral bands, 1.6 m), panchromatic (14 cm), and a normalized Digital Surface Model (12.5 cm). Object-based feature and decision level fusion strategies are proposed and compared when applied to a reference site where the species are previously identified during ground truth collection. This allows the best fusion strategy to be selected with a view to introducing the method in an automatic process (tree crown delineation and species classification) on a test site, independent of the reference site used for learning. In particular, a decision level fusion is selected: based on the Support Vector Machine algorithm, Visible Near-Infrared and Short-Wavelength Infrared classifications use Minimum Noise Fraction components at the original spatial resolution, whereas panchromatic and normalized Digital Surface Model classifications use, respectively, Haralick’s and structural features computed at the object scale. After the computation of a decision profile for each source at the object level based on the classification algorithms’ membership probabilities, these decision profiles are combined and a decision rule is applied to predict the species. Focusing on the reference site, the Visible Near-Infrared exhibits the best performances with F-score values higher than 60% for 13 species out of 15. The Short-Wavelength Infrared is the most powerful for three species with F-score greater than 60% for seven common species with the Visible Near-Infrared. The panchromatic and normalized Digital Surface Model contribute marginally. The best fusion strategy (decision fusion) does not improve significantly the overall accuracy with 77% (kappa = 74%) against 75% (kappa = 72%) for the Visible Near-Infrared but in general, it improves the results for cases where complementarities have been observed. When applied to the test site and assessed for the two majority species (Tilia tomentosa and Platanus x hispanica), the selected approach gives consistent results with an overall accuracy of 63% against 55% for the Visible Near-Infrared.  相似文献

Rainfall measurement is a very important topic to society and for the understanding of the weather and climate, therefore needs to be calculated as accurately as possible. Counteracting the problem of the high temporal and spatial variability of precipitation, geostationary satellites sensors have been proved an excellent tool to this task, providing scans with high temporal resolution and detecting the growth and decay of rain cells. Using infra-red (IR) images obtained from the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellites (GOES), the Hydro-Estimator (HYDRO) algorithm produces instantaneous precipitation estimates with 30 min temporal resolution and 4 km spatial resolution with a very low latency compared with other more sophisticated methodologies (i.e. passive microwave-based algorithms). However, the IR algorithm has some limitations to estimate precipitation on some cloud systems. In order to overcome this problem, the main objective of this study is to develop a light and fast algorithm, based on the histogram matching (HM) technique, to combine the superior sampling and low latency of the HYDRO IR product with more accurate active microwave-based products over Brazil. The adjusted HYDRO (AHYDRO) product was validated against Brazil rain gauge network for two years (2016–2017) and the performance was assessed by using standard statistical metrics and categorical indices. Results show that the HM technique is able to minimize the large variability and discrepancies among HYDRO and observed precipitation over Brazil. At same time, is able to generate a better bias performance while maintaining the same correlation levels before the adjustment.  相似文献

This review presents the results of a conference on ikat textiles organized in the context of the exhibition Striking Patterns: Global Traces in Local Ikat Fashion at the Museum der Kulturen Basel, Switzerland (October 2016 to March 2017). Academics and professional experts, some of them working for NGOs, debated often neglected potentialities as well as the future of contemporary ikat design and other intricately patterned handwoven textiles: the significance of new patterns; intellectual property rights; and educational encouragement. The general focus lay on the controversially perceived innovation of textile patterns in Indonesia and Timor-Leste. Zusammenfassung Das Lösungsvermögen des Anionendetergents Na-dodecylsulfat (SDS) in Gegenwart disulfidbrückenspaltender Reagentien auf native und auf hitzedenaturierte Proteine wird an Fleisch-und Kartoffelproteinen mit Hilfe elektrophoretischer Methoden untersucht. Die zur Resolubilisierung notwendige Menge an SDS und die erforderliche Incubationszeit werden für die verschiedenen Proben ermittelt. Die Proteine des Skeletmuskels von Rind, Schwein, Huhn und Pute einerseits und die Proteine der europäischen Kartoffelsorten und der südamerikanischen Primitivkultivare andererseits zeigen in der SDS-PAGE ein sehr ähnliches Bandenmuster, das speziesdifferenzierend kaum ausgewertet werden kann, aber ein gutes Charakteristikum für Muskel-bzw. Kartoffelproteine ist.
Solubility and electrophoretic patterns of heat-denaturated proteins (including samples containing starch) after treatment with SDS (sodiumdodecylsulfat)
Summary The ability of the anionic detergent SDS (sodium-dodecylsulfate) to solubilize native and heat-denaturated proteins of meat and potatoes in presence of disulphide reducing agents was checked by electrophoretic methods. Skeletal muscle proteins of beef, pork, chicken and turkey have shown very similar patterns in SDS-gelelectrophoresis, which could hardly be used for species identification but they are characteristic for fresh or boiled muscles. Proteins of European potato cultivars and primitive cultivars from South America have almost identical SDS-patterns even if taken from boiled potatoes. Their patterns are different from the proteins of other European crops plants and may serve for detection of the presence of potatoes in food mixtures.
