The study investigates how experienced computer users take advantage of the availability of graphic user interfaces in a word processing task. Performance time and actions were compared in three groups of subjects working respectively with WordPerfect 5.1, WordPerfect for Windows, or WordPerfect V2.00 for the Macintosh. The three groups did not differ in efficiency: they performed the word processing task at the same speed. Very few WordPerfect 5.1 users worked with the pull-down menus; the great majority preferred using the function key shortcuts. No significant difference in menu use was noted between the two graphical user interface word processors (Windows and Macintosh). Windows users did not apply shortcuts to move text, but used menus or the button bar instead. There was no difference in the use of the mouse between the Windows and Macintosh groups. While better task satisfaction is often reported with the availability of graphical user interfaces, our findings are in agreement with other studies suggesting that experienced users don't perform more efficiently with such a computer environment. 相似文献

N-[1-(2-Hydroxy-2-phenylethyl)-3-methyl-4-piperidyl]-N-phenylpropanamide (ohmefentanyl,1) is an extremely potent analgesic agent with high affinity and selectivity for opioid mu receptors. There are three chiral carbons in 1, so eight optically active isomers are possible. Respective reaction of optically active 3-methyl-N-phenyl-4 -piperidinamines (5a-d) with (R)- or (S)-styrene oxide produced eight optically active intermediates which were subsequently converted to eight optically active isomers of 1 (1a-h). The absolute configurations of 1a-h were determined by X-ray analysis of (3R,4S,2'R)-(-)-cis-1a and (3R,4R,2'S)-(-)-trans-1g. The analgesic activity (mice, ip, hot plate) revealed their extreme stereodifferences; the ED50 values of (3R,4S,2'R)-(-)-cis-1a and (3R,4S,2'S)-(+)-cis-1b, which are the most potent isomers among eight isomers, were 0.004 65 (2990 times that of morphine) and 0.001 06 mg/kg (13 100 times that of morphine), respectively, while the corresponding antipodes 1d,c were the least potent compounds among the eight isomers. In agreement with pharmacological results, both 1a,b also had the highest receptor affinity and selectivity for the opioid mu receptor. The ratio of K(i)(DPDPE)&K(i)(DAMGO) was 22 800 for 1a and 22 500 for 1b. All isomers except 1c,d strongly inhibited the electrically evoked smooth muscle contraction of GPI and MVD but not that of RVD, and the inhibitory effects could be reversed by naloxone, which indicated that these compounds were potent mu agonists in GPI and MVD. There was a good linear correlation between the analgesic potencies (ED50) and the receptor affinities (K(i)(DAMGO)) or inhibitory effects (IC50) to GPI and MVD. These results suggested that the analgesic effects of ohmefentanyl are mediated by interaction between the agents and opioid mu receptors in the central nervous system and the 3R,4S configuration at the piperidine 3- and 4-carbon atoms and the S configuration at the phenylethyl 2-carbon atom are beneficial for analgesic potency and inhibitory effects in GPI and MVD and the same for an S or R configuration at the phenylethyl 2-carbon atom besides the 3R,4S configuration for receptor mu affinity and selectivity. 相似文献

Ettringite, Ca6Al2(SO4)3(OH)12.26H2O, or C6A3H32 as it is known in cement chemistry notation, is a major phase of interest in cement science as an hydration product and in polluted soil treatment since its structure can accommodate with many hazardous cations. Beyond those anthropogenic features, ettringite is first of all a naturally occurring mineral (although rare). An example of its behaviour under the scanning electron microscope and during energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) qualitative analysis is presented, based on the study of natural ettringite crystals from the N'Chwaning mine in South Africa. Monte Carlo modelling of the electron‐matter interaction zone at various voltages is presented and confronted with actual, observed beam damage on crystals, which burst at the analysis spot. Finally, theoretical energy dispersive spectroscopy spectra for all the ettringite group minerals have been computed as well as Monte Carlo modelling of the electron‐matter interaction zone. The knowledge of the estimation of the size of this zone may thus be helpful for the understanding of energy dispersive spectroscopy analysis in cement pastes or ettringite‐remediated soils. 相似文献

Seed coat mucilages are mainly polysaccharides covering the outer layer of the seeds to facilitate seed hydration and germination, thereby improving seedling emergence and reducing seedling mortality. Four types of polysaccharides are found in mucilages including xylan, pectin, glucomannan, and cellulose. Recently, mucilages from flaxseed, yellow mustard seed, chia seed, and so on, have been used extensively in the areas of food, pharmaceutical, and cosmetics contributing to stability, texture, and appearance. This review, for the first time, addresses the similarities and differences in physicochemical properties, molecular structure, and functional/bioactive properties of mucilages among different sources; highlights their structure and function relationships; and systematically summarizes the related genetic information, aiming with the intent to explore the potential functions thereby extending their future industrial applications. 相似文献

ABSTRACT: Whey protein isolate (WPI)-based edible biopolymer films were prepared using a film-forming stage designed to provide heat-induced gelation. Effects of whey-protein ratios, calcium, glycerol (plasticizer), and emulsion droplet incorporation on film tensile and barrier properties were investigated. Protein ratios had less influence on tensile strength, elongation, and water vapor permeability than glycerol and calcium ion concentrations. Semitransparent films with reasonably high tensile and UV-light barrier properties and moderate water vapor barrier properties were prepared from WPI:20% glycerol:10 mM calcium solutions. Microstructure analysis revealed the influence of glycerol and calcium concentrations on gel networks, which could be related to film tensile properties. 相似文献

Cellular agriculture is a rapidly emerging field, within which cultured meat has attracted the majority of media attention in recent years. An equally promising area of cellular agriculture, and one that has produced far more actual food ingredients that have been incorporated into commercially available products, is the use of cellular hosts to produce soluble proteins, herein referred to as precision cellular agriculture (PCAg). In PCAg, specific animal- or plant-sourced proteins are expressed recombinantly in unicellular hosts—the majority of which are yeast—and harvested for food use. The numerous advantages of PCAg over traditional agriculture, including a smaller carbon footprint and more consistent products, have led to extensive research on its utility. This review is the first to survey proteins currently being expressed using PCAg for food purposes. A growing number of viable expression hosts and recent advances for increased protein yields and process optimization have led to its application for producing milk, egg, and muscle proteins; plant hemoglobin; sweet-tasting plant proteins; and ice-binding proteins. Current knowledge gaps present research opportunities for optimizing expression hosts, tailoring posttranslational modifications, and expanding the scope of proteins produced. Considerations for the expansion of PCAg and its implications on food regulation, society, ethics, and the environment are also discussed. Considering the current trajectory of PCAg, food proteins from any biological source can likely be expressed recombinantly and used as purified food ingredients to create novel and tailored food products. 相似文献
