The latest developments and in particular important synthetic aspects for the preparation of modern poly(styrene‐divinylbenzene) (PS‐DVB) based liquid chromatography (LC) supports are reviewed. In this context, the chemistry of particular porous and nonporous, functionalized, monolithic, coated silica and more specialized mixed organic PS‐DVB media is covered. Special consideration is given to modern approaches such as micro‐(μ)‐HPLC and coating techniques and their most important applications. A set of six coals ranging in rank from lignite to hvA bituminous was swollen with a series of alkyl-substituted pyridines and a smaller set of 4-alkylanilines. The size and branching of the alkyl groups was varied and the effect of this variation on the dissolution of the amines in the coal and the resulting coal swelling was measured volumetrically. In a few cases, substituents which hindered the amine nitrogen were studied. The lignite and subbituminous coal have a much higher tolerance to branched, bulky groups than do the bituminous coals. The presence of tertiary groups in a solute strongly inhibits their dissolution in bituminous coals. Bituminous coals behave as if extensive parallel packing of structures occurs. Often, they can accept very large planar groups but have a low capacity for branched groups.  相似文献

The effect on ambient aerosols of exposure to the conditions of the respiratory system was determined by sampling simultaneously through two dichotomous samplers in parallel. In one of the samplers the aerosol was brought to 37°C and near 100% relative humidity before passing through the virtual impactor. The results show that, as a result of humidification, about 10–15% by mass of the aerosol which would normally been collected in the fine (less than 2.5 μm aerodynamic diameter) fraction of the sample grows sufficiently when humidified to be collected with the coarse fraction. It is suggested that the direct application to inhalation studies of dichotomous sampler results should be approached with some caution.  相似文献

We present measurements of the electron, positive ion, and photon emission accompanying the fracture in vacuum of poly-crystalline 95/5 lead zirconate-titanate. The intensities of the charged-particle components of this fractoemission are shown to depend strongly on the direction (relative to the direction of fracture) and magnitude of polarization. The most intense emission is observed when the fracture surfaces are perpendicular to the polarization direction. The emission intensity increases monotonically with polarization. These results are interpreted in terms of a model involving charge separation on the fracture surfaces leading to a microdischarge during fracture. Implications to the interpretation of triboluminesence effects are discussed.  相似文献

When a phase-separated glass is leached, stresses develop because of release of thermal stresses, creation of surface area, ion exchange, and hydration. Analyses are presented for the thermal stresses, including the portion that develops on cooling from the heat-treatment temperature to the setting temperature of the less viscous phase. During leaching, the interfacial energy of the residual phase increases, so that phase tends to contract. A more important effect is the contraction caused by removal of alkali and B2O3 from the residual phase during leaching. The extent of removal of B2O2 decreases with heat-treatment time, tH , because the scale of the microstructure increases as t1/3H. The change in residual B2O2 content with tH is shown to be consistent with diffusion-controlled ion exchange. The dependence of stress on tH in partially leached glasses, measured by Drexhage and Gupta, results principally from the change in extent of ion exchange; the reduction in surface area with increasing tH also has a significant effect on the stresses.  相似文献

The RPE (recursive prediction error) method in state-space form is developed in the nonlinear systems and extended to include the exact form of a nonlinearity, thus enabling structure preservation for certain classes of nonlinear systems. Some of the options for optical technology within the local loop environment are examined. In particular, passive shared access networks have been considered in some detail. These networks show great promise for delivering existing telephone services to small to medium business customers (4-30 lines) economically by the early 1990s. Extending fiber to the home will also be possible by virtue of a similar passive network infrastructure for customers requiring new broadband services beyond the single telephone line. For one-line plain old telephone service (POTS) customers, an intermediate approach of terminating the fiber network at the final network distribution point, with copper retained for the final leg, may be used prior to the provision of broadband services. A key feature of the passive optical network architecture is the use of wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) as an upgrade strategy, allowing graceful upgrading from telephone services to multichannel high-definition television (HDTV) on gigabit/second bearers and full two-way switched broadband services employing wavelength routing across the network  相似文献

Lack of uniqueness of the kinematic solution of structures, analyzed as an assemblage of discretized elements assuming nonholonomic linearly-elastic/perfectly-plastic behaviour and a linearized yield surface, is studied. The occurrence of an elastoplastic mechanism leads to nonuniqueness; an elastoplastic mechanism is defined as a kinematically-admissible strain rate field made up of an admissible elastoplastic solution of the governing conditions and an add-on variable component consisting of a linear combination of plastic (collapse) mechanisms. The scalar multipliers of this linear combination are bounded, except at plastic collapse in which case the elastoplastic mechanism degenerates to a plastic mechanism. In the space of loads, the load paths that could coexist with nonuniqueness are restricted to a hyperplane or a crease of intersection of hyperplanes, defined by the equilibrium equations arising from the associated plastic mechanisms of the elastoplastic mechanism. The difference between any two competing displacement vectors would be normal to that hyperplane or crease, in the same manner plastic strain rates are to the yield surface according to the flow rule.  相似文献
