Ultrafiltration membranes of poly(acrylonitrile-co-sodium styrenesulfonate) [P(AN-co-SSS)] were prepared by casting the copolymer solution into water. The ultrafiltration rate of P(AN-co-SSS) membranes was controlled by adding poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) of various molecular weights to the casting solution. The effect of the PEG addition on the membrane properties was examined. By using the P(AN-co-SSS) membranes, which possess various molecular weight cutoff (MWCO) properties, the permeation behaviors of dextran (D) and dextransulfate (DS) were compared. The P(AN-co-SSS) membranes markedly restricted the permeation of DS, owing to electrostatic barrier of the negatively charged groups in the membrane. The electrostatic sieve separation of DS and D, each having similar molecular size, with the membranes was also investigated. Summary
In this work, a series of 2,3-O-methylcellulose (MC) with different DS value were prepared. Its phase transition behavior in aqueous solution was studied
in terms of DS value, concentration and molecular weight. The the following conclusions were obtained. (1) All the 2,3-O-MC samples show no sol-gel transition in aqueous solution despite the molecular weight. (2) No phase separation was observed
for the 2,3-O-MCs with a DS value lower than 1.0, even when the temperature was raised to 95°C. (3) The precipitation temperature is surprisingly
different between 2,3-O-MCs. and other MCs possessing comparable total DS value. (4) The precipitation temperature of 2,3-O-MCs depends on the molecular weight rather than on the concentration.

Highly accurate thermodynamic property models for binary and ternary hydrocarbon mixtures containing propane, n-butane, and isobutane have been developed. In the present model, reliable equations of state explicit in Helmholtz free energy for these three hydrocarbons that have already been developed by the present authors have been adapted. The excess term used to represent the contribution of mixing was optimized for each binary mixture by using the available experimental thermodynamic property data including PTx, isochoric heat capacity, and saturation properties (bubble-point pressures, mole fractions in the vapor phase, and saturated vapor- and liquid-densities) as input data. A generalized correction for the three binary mixtures, besides the ideal mixing, consists of only four terms in its functional form, the structure of which was determined by simultaneous optimization to the input data for the three binary mixtures by employing a stepwise regression analysis. The bank of terms, that is a matrix of candidate terms applied for the regression, was carefully prepared through detailed observation of the nonideal mixing representation of the experimental data of the three binary mixtures. No additional adjustable parameters were used in the present model for the ternary propane/n-butane/isobutane mixture. Based on comparisons with the available experimental data and values from the developed equations of state, the present models for the three binary and the ternary hydrocarbon mixtures accurately represent most of the reliable experimental data. In addition, the graphical tests of the derived thermodynamic properties show that the models, including that for the ternary mixture, provide a physically sound representation of all the thermodynamic properties over the entire fluid phase. 相似文献

The tocopherol contents and active oxygen method values of nine vegetable oils were determined and compared before and after
the oils were treated under simulated deep-fat frying conditions. The saturated oils, coconut and palm, had much higher initial
active oxygen method values than the unsaturated oils, soybean, safflower, etc., but the treatments caused a much sharper
decrease of the active oxygen method value in saturated oils than in unsaturated ones. The ratio of tocopherol loss after

Slow growth and high seedling mortality limit direct seeding establishment of guayule (Parthenium argentatum G.). This study was conducted to assess seedling growth enhancement by the addition of different rates and forms of N fertilizers and Ca salts. Experiments were conducted in a greenhouse with cultivar 593 under both surface and subirrigated conditions using water low in salts (salinity of 0.8 dSm–1, SAR of 5.0 and 10 mg Ca L–1). Under surface-irrigated conditions, seedling height and fresh plant weight increased with N application to the irrigation water to 70 mg L–1. The best seedling growth was observed when (NH4)2SO4 was added in combination with CaCl2 or CaSO4. Progressively less growth was observed by addition of (NH4)2SO4 alone, CO(NH2)2 plus CaSO4, CO(NH2)2 alone and Ca(NO3)2. When seedlings were subirrigated, however, the best growth was observed with Ca(NO3)2. Intermediate growth was obtained with (NH4)2SO4 plus CaSO4 and lowest growth rates with (NH4)2SO4 alone. These differential responses may be explained by the differences in leaching and volatile characteristics of the N forms. Growth enhancement from N and Ca additions increased with time with significant increases 45 days after seeding. Nitrogen application with Ca may be effective amendment in promoting subsequent growth of direct seeded guayule. 相似文献
