We have synthesized lead and lead sulfide nanoparticles embedded in a natural zeolite (clinoptilolite) matrix by a simple hydrothermal process. The process steps involve the partial removing of the natural cations in clinoptilolite, the ion-exchange process to enclose Pb ions and nanoparticles and finally a sulfuration process at different temperatures to obtain lead sulfide phases in the zeolite matrix. The samples were studied by X-ray diffraction, diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, X-ray photon spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy. The experimental results show the inclusion of three Pb species with different valence states after the Pb ion-exchange step, namely Pb2+, Pb4+, and Pb0. At the end of the process, two simultaneous lead sulfide crystalline phases, PbS (Galena) and PbS2 (tetragonal) were synthesized in the clinoptilolite matrix. The optical absorption spectra of the samples show the exciton absorption peaks typical of colloidal PbS nanoparticles. The average size of the PbS nanoparticles was about 10 nm and their crystalline structure was determined from diffraction electron patterns. The high-pressure phase PbS2 was also identified and its formation was attributed to the influence of the special conditions of clinoptilolite matrix as crystallization media to induce some selective nucleation process of this crystalline phase.  相似文献

This paper studies the hygrothermal behaviour of traditional underground wine cellars in one of the most important wine growing areas of Spain, the Ribera del Duero, paying special attention to the effects of traditional wind vents called zarceras. The purpose is to highlight energy-saving practices that aid the design and renovation of similar constructions. This was carried out by monitoring the temperature and relative humidity inside two wine cellars of similar properties throughout 2007, one with a zarcera and the other without. The results of the analysis show that the existence of the wind vent does not increase the ventilation from May to August. On the other hand, from September to March, the zarcera favours ventilation, affecting both temperature and relative humidity. The interior temperature is more greatly affected by the exterior temperature, giving rise to greater variations, although this difference is of little importance for maturing wine (annual variation 2.5 °C more than the cellar without a zarcera). The interior relative humidity is reduced, reducing the risk of condensation and problems of mould (the cellar without a zarcera reached excessively high values, 97% as an annual average, compared to 91% in the cellar with a zarcera). Thus the existence of zarceras in underground cellars improves the overall hygrothermal behaviour, providing suitable conditions for maturing wine without air conditioning systems, an advisable element in the building of new underground wine cellars.  相似文献

This study aimed to evaluate the antimicrobial and antibiofilm activities of two procyanidins isolated from an ethyl acetate extract of laurel wood against a selection of foodborne pathogens. The analysis of the extract by HPLC–DAD/ESI–MS allowed us to detect the presence of two procyanidins, which were selectively isolated and identified by chromatographic and spectroscopic means as cinnamtannin B‐1 ( 1 ) and procyanidin B‐2 ( 2 ). Procyanidins 1 and 2 exhibited two biological activities: inhibition of bacterial growth at high concentrations and prevention of biofilm formation at lower concentrations. Synergistic effect was also detected when both compounds were tested in combination against Listeria monocytogenes. Significant effects were also detected on disruption of preformed biofilm. The ability of procyanidins to inhibit microbial growth and biofilm formation and to synergistically work with each other may stimulate a market as natural food preservatives, and/or natural sanitisers for processing equipment where foodborne pathogens reside.  相似文献

Legumes are the base´s diet in several countries. They hold a high nutritional value, but other properties related to human health are nowadays being studied. The aim of this work was to study the influence of processes (boiling or germination) on the phenolic composition of dark beans (Phaseolus vulgaris L. c.v. Tolosana) and their effect on their antioxidant, neuroprotective and anticancer ability. Phenolic composition of raw and processed dark beans was analysed by HPLC-PAD and HPLC–ESI/MS. The antioxidant activity was evaluated by ORAC. Astrocytes cultures (U-373) have been used to test their neuroprotective effect. Anticancer activities were evaluated on three different cell lines (renal adenocarcinoma (TK-10), breast adenocarcinoma (MCF-7) and melanoma (UACC-62)) by sulphorhodamine B method. Qualitative and quantitative differences in phenolic composition have been observed between raw and processed dark beans that influence the antioxidant activity, mainly for germinated samples which show a decrease of antioxidant capacity. Although every assayed extracts decreased reactive oxygen species release and exhibited cytotoxicity activities on cancer cell lines, raw beans proved to be the most active in neuroprotective and antitumoral effects; this sample is especially rich in phenolic compounds, mainly anthocyanins. This study further demonstrated that phenolic composition of dark beans is related with cooking process and so with their neuroprotective and anticancer activity; cooking of dark beans improves their digestion and absorption at intestinal level, while maintaining its protective ability on oxidative process at cellular level.  相似文献

This article presents the main regulatory changes that occurred in the Brazilian power sector in 2009, along with the impacts these changes caused on the market, especially related to small hydropower (<30 MW). This study addresses regulatory issues based on inventory studies and records of basic projects, changes related to the compensation of the assured energy of SHPs in the Brazilian energy reallocation market, the socio-economic impact resulting from the construction of SHPs, SHPs in alternative resource auctions and finally the general outlook for the growth scenario for SHPs in Brazil according to the ten-year plan (2010&ndash;2019). The overall conclusions of this investigation were that the 2008/2009 biennium was a period of great changes in the regulation of small hydropower plants in Brazil, and the SHP market has shown maturity. Additionally, despite SHP being a type of technology that is completely dominated by domestic industry, in recent years, they have experienced policy disincentives caused by changes to rules that inhibit their growth.  相似文献

Eleven allelochemicals (ferulic acid, cinnamic acid, 4-hydroxybenzoic acid, hydroxycinnamic acid, methyl propionate, oxalic acid, methylmalonic acid, p-anisic acid, butyric acid, 3-hydroxybutyric acid, and azulene) were identified in the exudate of Cistus ladanifer L. We studied the effect of each on germination, cotyledon emergence, root length, and cotyledon length of Rumex crispus. Three groups were distinguished with respect to phytotoxic activity: compounds with low activity (ferulic acid, 4-hydroxybenzoic acid, oxalic acid, methylmalonic acid, p-anisic acid, hydroxybutyric acid, and azulene), with intermediate activity (cinnamic acid and hydroxycinnamic acid), and with high activity (methyl propionate and butyric acid). The effect of the interaction of the compounds was studied. When acting conjointly, all combinations tested produced a more negative effect on both germination and seedling growth than when acting alone. The interaction affected cotyledon emergence and root length more negatively than germination and cotyledon length. When hydroxycinnamic acid and cinnamic acid were added to these mixtures there was an enhancement in the phytotoxic activity, accentuating the effect of the other allelochemicals.  相似文献

In this work, the effect of germination of lupin seeds (Lupinus angustifolius L., c.v. Zapatón) on bioactive phenolic compounds as well as on the antioxidant activity was studied. Phenolic compounds were analysed by HPLC-PAD-ESI/MS. The antioxidant activity was determined by spectrophotometry, evaluating the free radical scavenging activity of the samples. Germination produced significant changes in flavonoids and non-flavonoid phenolic compounds. In the analysed samples, isoflavones, flavones and dihydroflavonols in free and conjugated forms were identified. The results obtained indicate that germination modifies the quantitative and qualitative polyphenolic composition of lupin (Lupinus angustifolius L.) seeds during the different days of the process, with a significant increase of flavonoids. An increase in the antioxidant activity was also observed as a consequence of the process. Germination was shown to be a good process to increase the phenolic content of lupin seeds as well as their antioxidant activity.  相似文献

The purification of a peptidic fraction with angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitory activity from sunflower protein hydrolysates by affinity chromatography was recently described. We now describe that reverse-phase HPLC fractionation of this product yields several fractions with IC50 one order of magnitude higher than those previously purified by reverse-phase HPLC following gel filtration chromatography, showing that affinity chromatography is much more effective than gel filtration chromatography as a first step for purification of ACE inhibitory peptides. The amino acid composition of these fractions is presented, but attempts to determine their amino acid sequence failed, showing that these fractions contained more than one peptide.  相似文献

White cabbage (Brassica oleracea L. var. capitata cv. Bronco) was fermented, at 0.5% and 1.5% NaCl, using Lactobacillus plantarum or Leuconostoc mesenteroides as starter cultures and, subsequently, sauerkraut was stored at 4 °C for 3 months. Microbial populations and six biogenic amines (putrescine, cadaverine, histamine, tyramine, spermine and spermidine) were investigated. Fermentation and storage increased aerobic mesophilic bacteria and LAB populations in sauerkrauts, and this was accompanied by a rise in biogenic amine content. L. plantarum sauerkrauts produced with 0.5% NaCl had the highest microbial counts, whilst no differences between salt contents were found with L. mesenteroides. Total biogenic amine amount was lower at 0.5% NaCl than at 1.5% in both induced fermentations and L. mesenteroides produced a lower content than did L. plantarum. Spermidine was the major contributor to the total biogenic amine content, followed by putrescine, whilst histamine was present at the lowest level. The individual and total biogenic amine levels in the experimental sauerkrauts stored at 4 °C for 3 months were below the upper limits reported in the literature for fermented products, indicating good quality and safety of the sauerkrauts. L. mesenteroides starter and 0.5% NaCl were the optimal fermentation conditions for producing sauerkrauts with the lowest biogenic amine contents.  相似文献

The effect of cow or goat milk-based diets, either normal or Fe-overloaded, on DNA stability was studied in control and anaemic rats for 30 or 50 days of chronic Fe repletion. DNA damage was assessed using the alkaline comet assay. Background DNA damage in lymphocytes of peripheral blood was much lower in control and anaemic rats, given the normal or Fe-overloaded goat milk-based diet after 30 and 50 days versus cow milk-based diet. Chronic Fe-overload had no adverse effect on DNA stability in control and anaemic fed the goat milk-based diet versus the same diet with normal-Fe content at the end of the study. The quality of goat milk fat, together with the high levels of bioavailable Mg and Zn may be responsible for its protective effect on DNA of peripheral blood lymphocytes under the different experimental conditions, even during chronic Fe-overload.  相似文献
