This paper describes the applicability of a modified polyol process in conjunction with a transmetallation reaction in synthesis of CoyAg100?y nanocrystallites of a core–shell structure. The substitution Co → Ag is varied as 20 ≤ y ≤ 95 by tuning the microstructure with functional magnetic and giant magneto resistance properties. The existence of core–shell structures was confirmed through transmission electron microscope and the size of Co-core increased from 8 to 50 nm with decrease in Ag-content of the sample. The magnetic behaviour of the sample changed from a pseudo-superparamagnetic nature to ferromagnetic with increase in Co-core size. Normalised saturation magnetisation values increased from 89.5 to 128.6 emu/g with increase in size of Co-core; however, none of the ferromagnetic samples exhibited any magneto resistance (MR). A value of 2.0% MR was observed in case of Co20.6Ag79.4 which increased to a maximum of 3.6% MR for Co36.6Ag63.4 sample when measured at 5 K. 相似文献

A Computational study to investigate the heat loss due to radiation and steady laminar natural convection flow in a trapezoidal cavity having eight absorber tubes for a Linear Fresnel Reflector (LFR) solar thermal system with uniformly heated tubes and adiabatic top wall and side walls has been performed. The losses due to convection and radiation were considered from the bottom glass cover. The results are validated with experimental data. Radiative component of losses from the cavity was found to be dominant which contributes around 80–90%. Heat loss characteristics have been studied for cavities of different depths. Simulations have been carried out for various values of heat transfer coefficient based on the wind speed below the glass surface. Effect of emissivities of the tubes on the heat loss has also been simulated. Flow pattern and isotherms inside the cavity for various depths have been analyzed. Finally, the correlation between the total average Nusselt number and its influencing parameters has been obtained for the proposed cavity. 相似文献

Petroleum sourced fuels is now widely known as non-renewable due to fossil fuel depletion and environmental degradation. Renewable, carbon neutral, transport fuels are necessary for environmental and economic sustainability. Biodiesel derived from oil crops is a potential renewable and carbon neutral alternative to petroleum fuels. Chemically, biodiesel is monoalkyl esters of long chain fatty acids derived from renewable feed stock like vegetable oils and animal fats. It is produced by transesterification in which, oil or fat is reacted with a monohydric alcohol in presence of a catalyst. The process of transesterification is affected by the mode of reaction condition, molar ratio of alcohol to oil, type of alcohol, type and amount of catalysts, reaction time and temperature and purity of reactants. In the present paper various methods of preparation of biodiesel from non-edible filtered Jatropha (Jatropha curcas), Karanja (Pongamia pinnata) and Polanga (Calophyllum inophyllum) oil have been described. Mono esters (biodiesel) produced and blended with diesel were evaluated. Achievement of good surface quality remains a concern during the micro-drilling of printed circuit board (PCB). Although a great deal of work is reported on the micro-drilling of PCB, information on the effect of drilling parameters like feed rate on different characteristics of hole quality is relatively scarce. It is known that stresses during micro-drilling of PCBs are critical issues. However, their correlation with hole quality is yet to be reported. The current work utilizes finite element analysis (FEA)-based simulation of deformation and stresses to explain various parameters of hole quality such as diameter, delamination factor and burr thickness. Effect of feed rate on these parameters has also been established. Results indicated that stresses play a vital role in influencing the hole quality of PCB. Increase in feed rate resulted in a reduction in hole diameter, whereas delamination factor and mean burr thickness increased with feed rate. The study is, therefore, expected to be of help in the proper selection of feed rate in order to achieve acceptable hole quality after micro-drilling of PCB. 相似文献

The change in surface behavior of natural quartz stone before and after heat treatment with metal oxides such as: cobalt oxide (Co3O4) and copper oxide (Cu2O) under vacuum and open atmosphere has been investigated. The surface feature, bulk density and hardness value of quartz changed after heat treatment, converting to a high value product. Difference in crystallinity of quartz, pre- and post-heat treatment was obtained through X-ray diffraction (XRD) study. The electron probe microanalysis results clearly explicated the diffusion of metal ion in quartz matrix exposed under vacuum atmosphere but as coating on the surface under open atmosphere. The structural transformation of quartz after heat treatment has been observed from the XRD data and well corroborated with the nanoindentation results. Durability of such quartz to chemical hazardous environment was observed. Thus, this communication demonstrates the change in physical and chemical characteristics of natural quartz stone after heat treatment under different atmosphere. 相似文献

Thin film gauges (TFGs) are a promising candidate for measuring transient heat fluxes in the applications involving very short duration of heating environment. They are basically resistance temperature detectors (RTDs) having the capability of responding in the range of few microseconds. In the present study, a silver thin film gauge (STFG) is fabricated and calibrated in-house with a view to assess the performance of STFGs in dynamic environment. Convective heat load is supplied by a hot-air gun where the heated air jet strikes the gauge and its response is obtained through voltage signal. Subsequently, the surface heat fluxes are estimated by using one dimensional heat conduction modeling. The similar experimental environment is studied to obtain the flow behavior of hot-air jet emanating into atmosphere by using numerical simulations. The self-similar velocities are plotted as well as the interference of outer domain into the experiment parameters has been studied. Ultimately, the surface heat fluxes obtained from various methods are compared to analyse the performance of this hand-made STFG. This study reveals the ability of STFGs to be used in practical short duration transient situations. 相似文献
