The rôle of saponins in the undesirable sensory properties of the dried pea P sativum is reported. The sensory properties of isolated soyasaponin I are defined and described as bitter, astringent and metallic. The distribution of saponin in various air-classified pea flour fractions shows that the protein-rich fraction may contain sufficient saponin to cause undesirable tastes.  相似文献

In this paper an analytical method for determining the permeability of nonwoven filter fabrics is presented. A technique for fabricating low-loss and polarisation-independent channel waveguides in silicon is reported. Multitrait restricted maximum likelihood methods were used for estimation of heritabilities and genetic and phenotypic correlations between calving ease and calf survival. These analyses examined both direct and maternal effects. Genetic correlation for direct effects between calving ease and calf survival was approximately -.8 in both heifers and cows, indicating favorable associations, whereas phenotypic correlations were -.32 and -.22.  相似文献

A total of six cows, divided into 3 groups, were fed various amounts of rape cake containing 6 g of goitrin/kg over a period of 7 days. The cows were milked twice a day and the goitrin content of the heated milk samples were determined by a HPLC-method within 2 h. When rape cake was fed at 0.39, 1.9 and 3.9% resp. of the total feed this resulted in medium goitrin values of 37, 163 and 707 micrograms/l milk. These values correspond to a transfer of about 0.1% of the original progoitrin content in the feed. 12 h after the last rape feeding the amount of goitrin in the milk was below the detection limit of 7 ppb. The toxicological significance of these findings are dicussed.  相似文献

A dozen CuO samples prepared under various conditions and from different starting materials were evaluated as cathode materials for a primary Li/CuO cell. The “thin electrode” method was used for rapid evaluation of the samples. Both coulombic efficiency and discharge voltage depend considerably on the method of synthesis. No correlation was found between the specific surface area and the resistivity of the samples on the one hand and the cathode performance on the other. Best results were obtained from CuO prepared by the oxidation of Cu2O under controlled temperature and time of oxidation.  相似文献

New spectrophotometric methods for the assay of some antioxidants have been developed using potassium permanganate and metol (p-N-methyl amino phenol). Metol is oxidised at pH 3.0 with potassium permanganate and coupled with antioxidants to give λmax at 560 nm for propyl gallate and gallic acid and 510nm for butylated hydroxy anisole. The method is simple, sensitive, reproducible and accurate within ±1% and applicable to the assay of antioxidants (gallic acid, propyl gallate and butylated hydroxy anisole) in oils and fats.  相似文献

A study was performed to determine if the rat ligated intestinal loop assay could detect Bacillus cereus diarrheagenic toxin. The results obtained indicated that this assay system could be used for such a purpose but it was not as sensitive as the young rabbit ligated ileal loop assay. When rats were used, concentrating the cell free culture filtrate of B. cereus 30- to 40-fold was necessary to detect diarrheagenic toxin activity with the intestinal loop assay.  相似文献

The effect of chelating agents on extracellular proteinase production by Pseudomonas fluorescens 32A was examined. Increasing concentrations of orthophosphate slightly stimulated growth while inhibiting proteinase synthesis. Fifty per cent inhibition was found at 35 and 28 mM-orthophosphate at 5 and 20 degrees C respectively. Extracellular protein concentration was reduced by 30% when cells were grown with 100 mM-orthophosphate. Polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis of the cell-free supernatants suggested that reduced enzyme synthesis had taken place as evidenced by the decrease in staining intensity of the protein band corresponding to the proteinase. Other phosphate compounds could replace orthophosphate as an inhibitor. Extent of inhibition was related to chain length; polyphosphates with 4-6 or 13-18 phosphorus atoms were the most effective inhibitors. EDTA (0.5 mM) completely inhibited proteinase synthesis. This inhibition could be partly reversed by Ca2+ and, to a lesser extent, Mn2+. Proteinase production at 5 degrees C in skim milk was completely inhibited by phosphate glass (P13-P18). Control experiments showed that loss of activity with chelators was not due to inhibition of preformed enzyme. The results suggest a possible role for polyphosphates in controlling proteinase production in stored milk.  相似文献

In order to investigate the galvanic anodic protection (GAP) of ferrous metals (such as 410, 304 and 316 stainless steels) in acid solutions by doped polyaniline (PANi), separate doped PANi powder-pressed electrodes with different surface areas (the area ratio of the PANi electrode to stainless steel is between 1:1 and 1:2) have been prepared. These were coupled with ferrous metal in the following solutions: 5 M sulphuric acid, 5 M phosphoric acid and industrial phosphoric acid (containing 5 M phosphoric acid and 0.05% chloride ion) to construct a galvanic cell, in which PANi is cathode while ferrous metal is anode. The results indicate that a PANi electrode with sufficient area can provide corrosion protection to stainless steel in these acidic solutions. A pilot scale coupling experiment was carried out. The results indicate that PANi is a promising material as an electrode for the anodic protection of ferrous metals in acidic solutions in industrial situations.  相似文献
