A New Approach for Restoration of Eddy Current Images   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Eddy current images of defects are blurred due to convolution of point spread function of eddy current probe with defects. Disturbing variables such as lift-off, surface roughness, and material property variations influence the eddy current images. In order to restore the length, width, depth, and orientation of surface-breaking defects in the presence of disturbing variables, a new and comprehensive approach has been developed. This approach uses artificial neural network and image processing methods. Studies on austenitic steel plates confirm that through this approach it is possible to restore the spatial information of surface-breaking defects of uniform or slowly varying depth and also to form their accurate three-dimensional pictures. This approach is fast as well as amenable for automation.  相似文献

Pure zirconium oxide powders with particle size 2–33 nm are synthesized by reactive plasma processing. Transmission electron microscopy investigation of these particles revealed size dependent behavior for their phase stabilization. The monoclinic phase is found to be stable when particle size is ≥20 nm; Tetragonal is found to be stabilized in the range of 7–20 nm and as the particle size decreases to 6 nm and less, the cubic phase is stabilized.  相似文献

In-service inspection (ISI) plays a major role in monitoring the condition of nuclear power plant structures and components. Based on the information gathered during inspection and the studies carried out, it is possible to assess the extent of damage and take corrective measures to keep effects of ageing under control. In nuclear power plants comprehensive ISI is dictated by issues of increased safety to personnel and equipment, and efficiently enhances the plant life. A special emphasis has been laid on the development of robotic devices for the ISI of the indigenous Indian 500 MWe Prototype Fast Breeder Reactor (FBR) components. This paper traces the experiments and simulations in the key developments of a robotic device, for the ISI of main vessel and safety vessel of FBRs, carried out at Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research, India.  相似文献

Osteoblasts are integral to the development, growth, function, repair and maintenance of bone. The osteoblast forms organic, non-mineralized bone matrix and is involved in complex interactions with a variety of factors, mediators and cell types. Degeneration, pathology, and trauma cause disruption and destruction of the normal skeletal environment and may lead to bone loss. There is a rise in active populations involved in trauma, elderly patients with fragility fractures and an overall increase in primary, revision and reconstructive bone and joint surgery. Despite the rapid evolution of implant technologies and bone grafting techniques, there is still a great demand for novel bone replacement strategies. Bone tissue engineering is the state of the art science with the potential to regenerate bone with natural form and function. This review presents the biology of osteoblasts and their current applications in bone tissue engineering biotechnologies and role in stem cell, bioactive factor, recombinant signalling molecule and gene therapy research.  相似文献

Helically coiled heat exchangers, where one of the working fluids is flowing through helical coil, are used in various process industries due to better heat transfer characteristics and the resulting compact layout. Out of these, process requirements make some of the heat exchangers to operate in air–water two-phase region. Even though the characteristics of their operation with single-phase working fluids are well documented, it is not so for the case of two-phase flows. There do exist few experimental results on hydrodynamics of air–water flow through helical pipes. However numerical investigation, which can give much insight into the physics of the problem, is lacking and this is the subject matter of this paper.  相似文献

Antibiotic resistance of microorganisms is one of the major problems faced in the field of wound care and management resulting in complications like infection and delayed wound healing. Currently a lot of research is focused on developing newer antimicrobials to treat wounds infected with antibiotic resistant microorganisms. Silver has been used as an antimicrobial agent for a long time in the form of metallic silver and silver sulfadiazine ointments. Recently silver nanoparticles have come up as a potent antimicrobial agent and are finding diverse medical applications ranging from silver based dressings to silver coated medical devices. Chitin is a natural biopolymer with properties like biocompatibility and biodegradability. It is widely used as a scaffold for tissue engineering applications. In this work, we developed and characterized novel chitin/nanosilver composite scaffolds for wound healing applications. The antibacterial, blood clotting and cytotoxicity of the prepared composite scaffolds were also studied. These chitin/nanosilver composite scaffolds were found to be bactericidal against S. aureus and E. coli and good blood clotting ability. These results suggested that these chitin/nanosilver composite scaffolds could be used for wound healing applications.  相似文献
